Absolutely perfect, the riad itself was so incredibly beautiful and in the perfect location. The hosts could not have been nicer and I’m so so happy I found this property!

Nothing it could not have been better

We felt totally at home here, Hamid & Zara made sure we were comfortable & helped us with things to do & see. Their breakfast is amazing just for 5 euros/50dhms bargain vaue for money & so nourishing. Location of this Riad is perfect away from all the noise of the Souk but only like 2 mins walk from of it, therefore its ideal. Park your car at Bab Parking for 2 euros a day & 5 at night a straight 10 mins walk to the Riad, there are baggage handlers for 5 euros that will take your bags in a trolley to the Riads door.

Great location inside the medina - well worth staying here. The instructions regarding parking were very useful. Staff were friendly.

If you stay longer, it might get difficult to live without a window and fresh air. But it is not that we didn't like it, just you have to have it in mind before booking. 🙂

ideal location in the medina and very friendly and helpful owners. They accommodated us in any way they could - washed our clothes, made us mint tea / coffee and cake and even helped us order in pizza when we were sick. The standard room was a little smaller than we had expected but it was fine, the bigger rooms with private balcony are particularly nice. The view at the top of the road is beautiful and peaceful! recommended and thank you :)

the soap provided was not the best and bathroom became quite wet as no shower curtain

Our King room with Seaview had fantastic bed and bedlinen, good shower, we could see the sea and sit on the little terrace. Although first thing you see is a building works being done and then the sea. The room was spacious, on 2 levels. Staff was helpful but there was some miscommunication due to language barrier.

The accommodation was on 2 levels separated by a steep spiral staircase. Bathroom and sofa on the lower level and bed on the higher one. Going up and down wasn't pleasant, you have to be very careful not to slip or bash your shoulders, which I have done first time going up. Its that narrow.

We loved the kindness of the hosts. They are a really nice couple! They gave us a lot of information about the place, recommendations for restaurants and museums and they treated us very very well. The location is amazing and the riad is very very chill. We slept very well, 12 hours straight because the bed was really nice.

However, the sea view is very ugly (its not worth paying the extra money for it), the room had caracol, dangerous, tiny and uncomfortable stairs! The first floor of the room had the bathroom and the upper floor the bed and balcony, it was tricky to go to the bathroom at midnight. The TV didn't work, it said it didn't get signal and the wifi didn't work either.

We enjoyed the location in the narrow streets of the medina; the cute courtyard of the riad and the very welcoming owners. The room was simple but had everything we needed. The breakfast pastries were still warm when served and absolutely delicious.

Extremely friendly owners made us feel very welcomed like their own family and got out of their way to help us find a good pharmacy and reputable fun and delish restaurants to eat. Clean and beautiful authentic traditional moroccan riad highly recommend visits easy access to beach fort and shops and restaurants excellent location.

Nice hotel, the owner and his wife very attentive. It would be nice howwver to have a room with oceanview.

We selected Riad Zawia because of its location in the Medina, close to the ramparts and about ten minutes walk to the harbour. This was our first nights rest following our overnight flight from Montreal to Casablanca - we took the train to Marrakesh and were just in time for the mid afternoon Supratours bus to Essouira. (We should have let our hosts know our time of arrival but had not yet activated our phone.) The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, the only sounds were of the windows and surf. Architecturally pleasing, the living area and breakfast room form a lovely heart to this riad, its light filtering down from the large skylight three floors above. Our cosy en-suite bathroom with its solar-heated shower was on the first floor up. The bed was very comfortable. Our charming hosts were very attentive and helpful. We would go for a walk before we breakfasting on fresh orange juice with bread and pastries. Nowhere in the old town was more than a 15 minute walk away and it was easy to return for a short rest during the day should it be needed.

There was nothing we did not enjoy, and we found it excellent value.

We stayed for 6 nights at Riad Zawia and had such a wonderful time. Hamid is a fantastic host and such a kind, helpful man. Our room had a sea view and balcony, which I totally recommend, although the roof terrace, which is open to all, offers the very best views. Our bedroom was upstairs and a real haven away from the bustle of the main streets. Great coffee shop next door and a couple of 'corner shops' locally to buy water etc, run by really nice people. Lovely part of the Medina too, with some great places to eat nearby.

The riad is in the perfect location, inside the medina, but in a quiet and peaceful area, in addition to the wonderful inner courtyard, from the rooftop terrace you have a wonderful view of the medina and the sea. The owner of the house and the rest of the staff, are exquisite people available to any request and extremely kind, making the environment warm and making the guests feel speicial. Super recommended!

Lovely traditional Riad in a great location.Our room had an ocean view, the property is in le Medina in a quiet street.The breakfast was excellent & the host is very helpful & welcoming.

Really nice couple that runs the Riad - they are so caring for you, so that as a solo female traveller I've felt welcomed and secure :) Highly recommended!

A very nice riad with kind people. We had a room in two levels with the bathroom downstairs and very steep steps to get up. But the balcony was absolutely wonderful with the best view of the ocean. The breakfast costed 50 dirham and was enormous.

We highly recommend a stay in this beautiful Riad. Liked not only the cosy, very clean room, nice rooftop terrace with view over the ocean or the delicious breakfast but in particular the friendliness of the two owners, Hamid and Zahra. They were incredibly helpful in making our stay in Essaouira a total success (guidance around the city, activity booking, restaurant recommendations, arrangements for airport transportation etc.).

A peaceful riad with a beautiful rooftop terrace overlooking the sea - the perfect place to relax! The place is held by a lovely couple who were incredibly welcoming and always willing to help, be it with recommendations or with bookings. It is centrally located and a stone's throw away from all the major attractions, the beach, and many great restaurants (Triskala down the street was one of our favourites). They are also situated right next to a great coffee shop that sells wonderful pastries. Would rebook again!

We stayed in the room on the ground floor which we accessed through the lounge area. The room was spacious but it did not have windows with natural lighting which made it a bit stuffy. There was, however, a window overlooking the indoor lounge area. This brought in a bit of light and air but meant we had less privacy and could hear people having breakfast in the morning. We did not mind so much because we were rarely in our room, but would recommend you ask for a room on one of the top floors if you decide to book.

no windows in the room and it felt a bit stuffy and clostraphobic at times. No ventilation unless you opened the door window onto the riad. I hardly spent any time in the room so it wasn’t a big problem.

The location of Riad is perfect to reach the sightseeings of Essaouria, and the view from the room was perfect, and was cleaned every day. The owners are great people and very helpfull. I can recommend this Riad for sure!
