Loved the house and location - kids loved the pool, adults loved the hot tub and it's a 5 minute walk to the beach. Enough space for everyone and the kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

This home was located in a perfect location to beach access and for a wonderful ocean view. The pool and hot tub were very enjoyable. The home in itself could use some work. The air conditioning unit I. The second floor was not working when we checked in, however I was answered very quickly and the problem was fixed immediately. The screened in porch in fact only had 2 screens in it, the rest were open and there was no door on it going out. We also found that multiple windows had no screens when we tried to cool the house. We did notice stains on rugs and carpet, as well as none of the sheets fitting the beds. The rental was listed as having TVs in multiple bedrooms and it does not have them, TVs only in the sitting room and living room. While we enjoyed our stay very much, these were some things we saw that could be improved.

This was our second year visiting OBX and staying at The Answer. The house and location are fantastic! It is an easy walk to the beach - perfect for going back more than once per day. Also an easy walk to the Food Lion and Timbuck II shopping and dining areas. Easy access to the bike trails north and south of Corolla meant that we filled our week with different activities. The house itself had all the comforts we could wish for with a pool, hot-tub, and plenty of space indoor and out.

Really enjoyed the set up of this house. The pool was a nice size. The only drawback was small shower in basement and master bed was not too comfy. Otherwise it was close to the beach and had a lot of extras, bikes, chairs and money towards rentals. I would stay at this location again. Thank you for the excellent customer service also.

Pool and hot tub were great. Home was accurately described in description. We had a critical lightbulb out and maintenance was out within 12 hours to replace. It was a solid property for the price, 600 feet to the beach is accurate.

Very clean, close to shops, easy access. Had a couple maintenance problems that were handled very promptly be company.
Would like to see the tree limbs over driveway parking area trimmed. They scrap top of vehicle roof going under them, also need new box spring in upstairs bedroom. Overall, very good. Would stay again.

Met our expectations
Property was as described. Maintenance was very quick to respond to emails. It was nice having the credit towards beachware rental. We enjoyed the pool. We loved the Corolla area. It was nice to be in walking distance to grocery store, restaurants and shops.

Never stay here
The property was dirty. Mildew around 1 shower, another didn't drain, and 3rd had the worse head I've seen since high-school. Property is not treated for spiders or bugs. Spiders EVERYWHERE! Property had screened in porch, but it was open and infested with Spiders and webs. Hot tub did nothing but foam when the jets were on. Upstairs AC wouldn't go below 72°. Broken window blind, windows that barely open, doors that take a body builder to open. One bedroom blanket had red stains in it. There was scattered pieces of scrabble on 2 floors of the house. Nail polish on the floor Upstairs. 2 terrible, small tvs with none in the bedrooms. Dryer takes almost 3 hrs to dry a load. And I could go on and on. And I have some pictures. Whoever owns or maintains this home should be ashamed. Water stains and broken hardware. Could be a really nice place if it was taken care of properly.

The house was lacking basic necessities. Most of the lightbulbs were out. The house was not cleaned well from previous group. The refrigerator barely worked. Will not be staying at this property again.

Lovely cottage
Lovely cottage that is wonderfully stocked. Close to beach entry and grocery store. We had a great time there and would definitely stay there again

False advertised — dirty & moldy — but still a great vacation
We just had one of the best vacations. But it was no thanks to this property.
The advertising was completely false. The house is NOT 600 ft to beach access. It smelt like mold upon entry—there was visible mold On the AC exchange. The dishwasher was rusted and not working properly. Apparently no one called the maintenance company because they sent someone to fix immediately.
The wrap around porch was full of rusty nails and the dinning room table chairs were broken. The beds were the most uncomfortable ever—worse than a bad days in!
The property management company was very responsive!!! We would work with them any day. BUT the owners of the property really probably need to get some things updated after this season.

Good Location but needs upgrades
Make sure you pay close attention to the layout online because the house was very different than it appeared online. There recently painted the exterior of the house and added new decks but the inside needs a lot of attention. The garage door doesn't work - you have to open it manually and it is very heavy. The house is noisy - don't know how else to describe it. You can hear everything that happens on all levels and outside. The bedroom with a king bed in on the middle floor and the slightest movement upstairs sounds like an elephant is walking. The refrigerator wasn't cooling correctly - due to the seals so they had us prop a piece of wood under it. All of the appliances need updated. The dryer took 3 cycles to get clothes dry. The hot tub didn't work and the water inside was very smelly. There are only two tvs in the house - none in the bedrooms and the tv in the living room is really small. The management company was great and any time we had an issue they were very responsive.

Four bikes, none of them rideable. Called, nothing done. Without water two different times, called, finally fixed. Caused us stress. Pool and hot tub supposed to be serviced twice a week. Only services once a week. This house is getting wear and tear and needs some TLC. We were pleased with the kitchen remodel and the upstairs bathroom remodel.

House was pretty much as advertised. Cleaning crew does not clean before you check-in. The kitchen was nasty. The shower curtain in the bathroom attached to the king suite had a moldy shower curtain. There was a leak around a recessed light in the living room and the house smelled musty upon arrival. Code to the door sent in the app was incorrect. The code on the welcome packet was different and worked. No water pressure in showers.

The house is in a awesome location close to the beach within walking distance but it was dirty and a few cosmetic things that needed attention. The boards on the stairs were loose on the deck. The fence on the pool was loose and boards fell off while we stayed. We were also told when we rented the house that the pool heater was in working order but when we arrived and called to have it turned on they told us they would send someone out to turn it on but when the pool guy arrived he said that the pool heater hadn't worked since 2016 and the rental company knew that. We called to tell them and they basically said sorry about your luck. The house really needs cleaned there were crumbs everywhere under the couches and tables beer bottle caps everywhere you looked.

For the first time ever, we had to cut our trip to OBX short. The sleeping arrangement at "The Answer" were a bit too much to bear. After two nights of sleeping in the bedrooms on the second level, we could no longer take the musty, moldy smell of the 1st and 2nd levels. We reported this issue to Shoreline and a specialist came out right away to address the issue but all they did was try and mask the smell by spraying an industrial strength Febreeze. To be perfectly honest, I don't know what they could have done to address this issue, short of ripping out the carpet and gutting the place to the studs and renovating the entire 1st and 2nd floors. So, for the past several nights, a family of 5 with three grown boys slept on the 3rd level on a pull out and a bedroom with a full size bed. Needless to say, this was very uncomfortable and not something one should have to endured during the one week that we look forward to each year. I truly believe that the moldy issue at The Answer is a health concern and should be properly addressed. Contacted the rental agency for a possible refund (prorated), but no reply.

The location is great and so is the large private pool. The house is on the older side for that area. We have stayed at The Answer several times. The decking needs attention as do some of the exterior doors. There was some confusion on the property managers part. We were suppose to get early check in, we ended up getting in the house at 2pm. It looked like to us that the cleaning team had rushed to get the property ready and left the floors, kitchen and dinning room areas dirty. That was the first time that had been an issue. The previous tenants left a lot of items (trash) in the yard and on the deck.

Somewhat tired house. We couldn't get the house we had last year. There was no coffee table or rug in the small living room. Just two small couches and a chair. Beer can and other things left under bed. One roll of TP for 3 bathrooms and no soap. Otherwise close enough to the beach. Kids had fun in pool and hot tub although there was a brown stain around the pool and the floor was ripped. I would not recommend this particular house to a friend.

Check in process was good. Food left in the refrig. Had to call about all screens being torn on screened in porch. Very prompt and sent someone immediately, however not a very good job, and in three days 3 screens were torn again. One sink was clogged and lots of nail pops on decking...hazardous. Kitchen could be better stocked. The property is older and needs some TLC. But a perfect location!

The rental was great in terms of location and convenience. It had everything we needed. Bedrooms were comfy and private. Only downfall were some maintenance issues like loose boards on the deck with nails, the main door couldnt close without some force, screen doors were loose and falling out. Once those issues are fixed, this would get a 5/5 stars!! Great house.

No-Go
was very pleased with the short walking distance to beach. The pool was definitely the main attraction. Didn't use hot tub much. Not happy with the very small charcoal grill. A gas grill should almost be a given. Place was clean enough upon arriving although the key pad to enter the house did not work. Luckily the sliding glass door was open. Layout of house was awkward. Was not happy that both bedrooms had TV's that did not work. It would have been nice to have at least 1 dish towel in kitchen. The bikes in garage were definitely not road ready. We had to do some fixing up of them first. (thank goodness my other half is a handyman). Shower curtain liners were moldy. Broom with no dust pan.
House is obviously one of the older ones on the street and could definitely use some sprucing up outside and especially the stairs leading into the house. We all tripped on uneven boards and nails a few times. Probably would not recommend this rental or use in the future.

First and foremost,as a firefighter,we all know smoke detectors save lives!!!! this place does not have one on any floor and places the renters in grave danger!nobody would have a chance to get out due to this situation. with the extremely dry decking and ocean winds,its a disaster waiting to happen. i believe we could have been in a better place for the price.

The home is located in a quiet neighborhood within close walking distance to a grocery store, shops, restaurants and very easy walk to beach. Pool was clean and the house is equipped with many things that made our trip easier (chairs, boogieboards and beach cart)However some things to be noted - the bikes are barely usable, most toys in the garage should be thrown out, bathrooms were not clean upon arrival, wear shoes on deck due to splinters and nails, outdoor showers are filthy, moldy and plenty of algae and shower caddys rusty. Disappointed with Shoreline's lack of response after complaints were made.

House was well-located and appointed with many convenient ammenities (kitchen utensils, books, movies, beach items). Beds were comfortable, though a little on the firm side. Appliances were mostly up-to-date and relatively easy to operate. Pool was nice and clean. House on the whole was comfortable though it could use some exterior spucing. Negatives were: * Deck was old and nails, splinters popped up causing some foot injuries * AC was inadequate for a couple of afternoons to maitain set-point at 73oF (not sure if this was due to auto-limitation by Utility Company though) * House was advertised as with Gas Grill, but only a charcoal one was found...inconvenient for large Family meals * Kitchen layout not the best for large family meal prep...cant have more than 2 people in kitchen at same time. Overall we would stay at this property again, but with arequest to address some of the maintenance items first.

Perfect house for a vacation with just our immediate family instead of the typical extended family trip. The house had some recent updates that were nice like wood flooring in the main living space and granite countertops in the kitchen. Some disappointments were due to the many maintenance issues that needed to be addressed like indoor and outdoor lightbulbs burnt out. Not a big deal except the one out in the kids' bathroom that had no outside window leaving only the light over the tub which didn't do a good job lighting the sink area. Also, one of the bifold doors to the washer and dryer space was completely off its track which was an accident waiting to happen. Screen doors on all levels had areas of screening coming off the frames. The pool and hot tub were nice and enjoyed by all. There were bikes and a beach cart for beach accessories in the garage that made getting to the beach easier and provided opportunities for bike rides around Whalehead. If the maintenance issues were addressed I'd have no reservations about recommending the house to family and friends.

The house was great. Very clean and well organized. The pool and hot tub were spotless and the owner's had a well stocked garage filled with toys and bikes and boogie boards. It was a quarter mile walk to the beach, but the wheelbarrow/buggy made moving gear down to the beach quite easy. Great views from the decks.
