The location right in front of the beach, literally meters away
The service from staff was great
The property need serious renovation, it is very dated, both rooms and facilities
The air condition isn’t designed to operate in hot summer weather. The room was very hot during the daytime.
The weird smell in the bathroom, probably because of the bad drainage system

Koh Mak resort is a lovely place conveniently located right by the pier which is handy when you arrive or leave or take a boat to neighbouring Koh Kham island . we have found lot of new Thai friends here who made us feel very special . the manager who calls herself Sauce is lovely and very accommodating, helpful and efficient . anything we needed , she assisted promptly and always had a smile on her face . restaurant and bar staff became practically like a family to us on the first day . my daughter took special shine to a barman called Mr Nu and followed him everywhere. he was very attentive and kind to her throughout our stay . they all were . when we were leaving , they walked us to the pier and hugged us and waved goodbye . to be honest we didn’t want to leave and we’re so sad to leave them behind . the resort is lovely and the rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage space . plus they are right on the beautiful beach . Koh Mak Resort also has a little shop on the premises . there is an old lady called Attiya that runs it and she is like a grandma anybody would want . so sweet and always had a kind words for us and my daughter , even gave us some free gifts from her lovely shop . make sure you’d pop in to say hello . we also bought few things there , she has some lovely clothes for sale :)
The beach is lovely and when the tide is out you can walk to the furthest end towards Turtle Beach , just beware of stray dogs that are often moving in packs .Take a coconut or sharp rock in case they get aggressive , they usually scamper off fast when you threaten them with it and shout Pai in a loud voice !
we loved Koh Mak resort , everything about this place was amazing and we felt super welcome throughout our stay there . we would definitely be back !
nothing , everything was great
just maybe one thing . the water in the pool should be cleaned more often .

The location
Unfriendly staff, to high price for what you got. Not good cleaning, dated rooms.

Location is good.
Breakfast just ok. Coffee is good. No vegan options (like everywhere else).
Almost no english except for the manager. Need to bring cash. Change rates are very bad. Toilet has no window. Bungalows a bit old, but ok. Big windows with nice sea view. Pool is useless. To cold water and in shades.

the resort is ok for 3 star hotel
many things we arrive in September witch is low season ,rainy season
it rains a lot so the rooms we re quite humids from the lack of isolation… we arrived and they’ve organised a pick up from the pier to the resort , it was raining and the plastic windows had holes so we got wet from the beginning …pick up the key the lady at the reception wasn’t especially friendly …. she said the restaurant is open till 8pm every evening … we went the next day at 715 pm : close !!!!
so we couldn’t eat in the evening … we had to wait till the next day cause no other options around the hotel due to low season everything was closed . we had the breakfast included but every morning the hour was changing
one day from 0700-1000 next day they opened at 0800-1000
the third day they didn’t wake up untill 0900 , on top of this the choice fro the breakfast and the restaurant is really poor …. the staff are not professional …. we had to wait and bed for most of the things …. was a very bad experience in all…. yesterday night we didn’t have water to shower for 4 hours ….when I ve report this at the reception
at the check out she only said to me that is because of low season ….. what a poor excuse …. they should not open in low season cause they can’t offer e decent service …. we were very happy to leave after 3 days …. in all our worst experience in Thailand so far …. so no I wouldn’t recommend this resort …. in low or high season ….

Beach, breakfast, service
Shower has mold, everything clean but rather old, building needs renovation. Fridge turns off when outside

Lovely location, nice pool, great view from hilltop rooms. Friendly (but incompetent) staff
Staff should explicitly mention the sandflies on the unmaintained parts of the beach on check in. We were suffering big time for 5 days. Hotel failed to mention the limited boat capacity, or advise us to book boat in advance. Could not leave the island when we had to. Hotel offered a room 3 times the price we paid before. Absolute no-Go. Staff clearly needs training.

Locals were good and the scenery beautiful
Limited engagement from staff, there is so much more that could be done but the engagement was not there - eg borrow kajaks for free (as at the facility next door), support with social games, listen to guests’ needs and try to meet them…

There is a pier in front of the resort if you take Panan Speedboat from Lam Ngob pier can easily get on and off here. The resort locates right by the beach with great view. Each bungalow is private and faces the sea.

the beach is a few steps away from the rooms with tranquil views of the beach. The bar is very welcoming and the staff are so lovely. Great cocktails!
Food is great, very fresh. and the breakfast is great too, great coffee!
There is a little shop behind the restaurant for snacks and essentials.
You will find everything you need very close by to enjoy and very peaceful, fun holiday.

This place was perfect for couple like us. Right on the beach. you can see the ocean from your room. The room was pretty with glass walls. So you could pull up the curtain and view everything right from your room. There is a balcony in front with chairs to chill and enjoy the view of the ocean.
There is swimming pool, its own bar and restaurant which has great food. You can rent kayak and scooter/bike right from the resort.
This part of the island has the best beach. No passenger boat is docked here. So great view. Blue water and koh kham island in front. Koh Kham is a small, very pretty island here. You could rent a kayak or go there by boat. 5 mins from koh mak resort. It has a beautiful pier where you could just sit and chill.
The staff are very friendly and cooperative. Also found this place value for money. This is not the most budget resort. But the view and all the facilities make it worth it.
All in all, thoroughly impressed.
