the freezer needed defrosting - the door was unable to close which meant the fridge was full of water all the time. The front door was difficult both to close and open. The property was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures. My son complained that his single bed really made his back hurt.

It was very convenient to the old town, supermarkets and opportunities for food and drink. The accommodation was warm, even in December, and the main room was a good size - enough room for us to watch TV whilst my grandson played. The bathroom is spacious. A nice touch was that a loaf of bread and eggs were left for us, and a box of cookies was delivered for us. The instruction booklet made everything very clear.

It would be nice to have a mirror in the bedrooms. It was a bit of a squeeze round the double bed.

A superb property, full to the brim with home comforts, stylish decor and an amazing shower. The location is perfect - right in the centre of the beautiful Old Town and with parking!

The hosts are great, the instructions on how to get to the house and how everything works are very clear. There was a nice care package waiting with fresh eggs, milk, bread and some cookies so that was absolutely lovely. The decorations are very nicely done and the interior downstairs looks stylish. Location is also good as it's right in the old town with easy access to shops, restaurants and the beach by foot.

We usually have really good experiences when renting a place with such high rating. This one was a hit and miss unfortunately. I'll say first that effort was put in the place and they made the best out of what they had to work with (minus one thing that can definitely be done better). It's also a very nice location for couples or people alone looking to be really in the center of Margate. Firstly, the parking. There's a private parking spot however it's very tiny and difficult to get in properly. It's not tiny in the sense that there's not enough space or it's closed in, but it's on a road/next to parking spots of the neighbors and therefore you have to park all the way next to the flower beds. This is fine if you have a small car, but for big cars (long cars particularly) this is really tricky and it took us each time 4/5 times going back-and-forth to get in, and the same to get out, without scratching the car in the process. It was very tight and was not comfortable with it at all. In addition this blocked the neighbors right next door who had a small passage right behind the parking spot (we had no choice, either them or the rest of the neighborhood) who were obviously annoyed and passed behind the car in such a way that if they had anything sharp, it would've made a scratch easily. We also got blocked in twice by other neighbors so couldn't get the car out, including on the day we were leaving. Needless to say we will not try that again. Secondly, the beds. They are not comfy by any means. I was honestly surprised to read this from others as instead of a normal spiral one of the single beds had a plank at the bottom because it was broken! For this price I would've expected proper beds that were not broken, we wouldn't sink into (not broken but way too old) or that were too hard. The double bed is OK but those two single beds need to be replaced.

Located right in the centre of the old town allowing access to the best an very interesting parts of the area.

Not a criticism of our rental but going midweek out of season means fewer places are open - but the local fish and chips came to the rescue.

Only within 15 minutes walk from the train station. It is located in close to the boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and galleries. It is 5 minutes walk from the loop bus stop to take to Broadstairs and Ramsgate. The seafront is within 5 minutes walk away. The place is homely, cosy, functional, clean and it has a lot of character with wooden beams and certain furnishings. It has anything you require to accommodate families, including young children. The garden is lovely and functional. A nice place to chill out and have your meals outdoors. We were welcomed with bread, milk, eggs, and the best cookies we ever tasted! We were also provided towels for the beach, which was a big help. Toiletry packs are also provided, which were also a great help. Upon booking, Sunetra contacted me and provided me with a manual/guide with was very useful. A copy of the manual is also available in the living room.

Very little to dislike. My main critique is the state of the shopping precinct, but the accommodation was great.

lovely little cottage in the heart of Margate old town. loved that it was so near to the beach and many bars and restaurants. great to have onsite parking and the little garden was lovely for morning coffee.

some areas of cleaning need to be looked at. fridge was dirty and some of the bowls in the drawers were dirty.

Normal tv channels couldnt get working, hot master bedroom it was 30 degrees though.

The location was amazing and the house was very nicely decorated. The toiletries were a very nice touch.

My children said the single beds were a little uncomfortable.

The Old Barrel Store cottage is charming and nicely decorated. Its location is excellent- in the Old Town, in a quiet area and yet close to the beach, good restaurants, a supermarket, etc. Sunatra is a very attentive host, quickly responding to questions. We also had a nice welcome in the form of fresh bread, eggs and milk waiting for us.

We are used to slightly firmer matresses, but apart from that all was great.

I like how much character this sweet cottage has, so many original features mixed with some modern conveniences & quirky vintage furniture from local shops. Looks great and the owner has put a wonderful guide together so you know how everything works, including some recommendations for various things things to do/places to eat. Very helpful! The host was wonderful and a regular source of inspiration for nearby places to visit & left some very welcome complementary welcome goodies! The cottage was located in pretty old town and walking distance to all of what Margate has to offer. The Viking Trail is less then 5 minutes away and stretches along the coast from Reculver to just past Ramsgate (via Margate, Botany Bay & Broadstairs). We walked all the way to Broadstairs along the beach and back via the Viking trail. Great day out, but a bit tiring! We had lots of good food too: Angela’s, Hantvert & Found, The Riz, Milk & Cookies, Forts, Peter’s Fish Factory. Also drinks at Micro Pubs such as the Harbour Arm and also watching the sun go down from The Two Halves All in all a great getaway!

We came in September, so the evenings were getting cooler and the house can feel cold, however the Hive thermostat Boost button fixed that nicely The back courtyard/garden was a very cute space with fairy lights in the evening, but did feel a little overlooked as it was a lower level then the street (‘alley’) level, so anyone walking on Cobbs Court could see right in. That said, we hardly saw anyone & the ones we did were lovely. It’s a super quiet street, so it’s all good.

Great location, quiet area, parking space, good amenities - plenty of cutlery, etc. The Welcome Guide is excellent. Feels welcoming. Host was easily contactable and responded quickly to questions.

Bedrooms feel a bit cramped - not much floor space around the beds or storage space for clothes, Folded cot squeezed into the wardrobe limited hanging space.

We all really enjoyed our stay at the Old Barrel Store. It’s a beautifully decorated and furnished cottage that has these lovely features that take you back in time to Old Margate - the stable door, windows, vintage furniture and art work on the walls, yet has a fresh, modern feel with pretty much everything you need for your stay. The location is perfect just minutes from the beach and parking to boot which was a great plus for us as a family. It felt spacious and we made use of the garden and beach stuff that was supplied; and the games, toys and TV were perfect for the days when we just wanted to relax at home or chill after a day’s exploring. We also had friends staying not far from us on King Street - and there was plenty of room for us all to catch up while the kids played.

We stay every year in Margate and this is by far our favourite house. The location is just perfect, the little extras like the coffee machine and cookies were so lovely. The house is just so cozy and welcoming. The parking space was an added bonus and saved the headache of finding a parking space in the town. The garden is a lovely addition too! Beds were very comfy and bedding and towels beautiful cotton and lovely quality. There is everything you could possibly need in the house, have already booked for next year and really looking forward to it. Thank you Sunetra!
