Genuinely homely and comfortable

The bath and electric shower but knowing how the water system is there, I understand why it’s fitted

Comfortable, spacious, well equipped. Rear patio area very good in afternoon sunshine. Friendly owner and neighbours. Countryside position with lovely rear patio, planted pots and shrubs and views over stream and bridge to open fields and woodland and a footpath. Wifi and phone signal good

Stairs steep and needed care coming down especially : not good for anyone with mobility issues. A few issues discovered: exterior rear light didn’t work, bathroom sink drained VERY slowly, The road is a ‘rat run’ and so regular passing vehicle road noise most days from morning through to evening. Relatively quiet to rear but both bedrooms face the road so earplugs recommended especially you like to sleep with ventilation via windows. No washing machine powder provided. No specific car parking with the property but is just possible to park at the front right up against the house and porch with a hatchback -anything larger and wider could be a problem as vehicle would be partly on the road which is narrow at this point. Rear porch door sticks and unable to open from outside if closed meaning you haven’t go around the front to go through the front door. All these points reported on leaving the property and would hope/expect the sink, outside light and rear door easy to,remedy.

Excellent location and a beautiful little cottage

Holme House Cottage is cosy, comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed our 3 nights there - it was a great base for exploring the area. Particularly enjoyed the sun trap garden with beautiful views - it was lovely to drink a glass of wine and play card games in the early evening sunshine. My little one enjoyed watching the cows in the field opposite from the bedroom window.

Nothing major - blackout blinds in the bedrooms would be a good idea.

Fab location! Good value for money.

The shower could do with replacing! Decor was a bit dated.

We stayed for a weekend in the middle of September, the cottage was in a quiet location, with easy access to the Yorkshire dales, my only regret was we couldn’t stay longer. There is always plenty to do in this part of the UK and if you needed more inspiration the owners/ previous guest had left plenty of leaflets. The weather was great too which is an added bonus. The cottage has all the amenities you might need and the owners are not far away if you need them.

Although the electric shower did work the casing was broken and would definitely need replacing. There was also an odd looking stain in the bottom of the bath. I wasn’t at all sure how to operate the central heating which came on automatically late in the evening, an instruction manual may have helped - or perhaps I could have just googled them. Please note that I have not raised these minor problems with the owners as it didn’t spoil our vacation in anyway.

Unfortunately, the road is incredibly busy ,noisey and fast. Neighbour has tried to get the speed reduced.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. Glorious cottage garden. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. Thoughtful touches - flowers, cookies and chocolates ❤️

The shower was a bit underpowered. Otherwise, nothing.

Lovely little garden overlooking brook with lots of birdlife. Cottage equipped with everything needed including extra blankets in bedroom and fleeces in Living room.

Basic shower not very warm, but plenty of hot water for bath!

Beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated with excellent amenities. Enjoyed sitting out in the patio garden on a sunny afternoon.

What did I like? Everything! A detached cottage that was impeccably clean, super comfy and the absolute best place to rest after a long day's work away. I stay in around 50 hotels and holiday places a year and this is the first time I've been sad to leave a place. So so so so peaceful! Gonna miss it :(
