Madge house is in a great location in the town. The house is lovely and very well equipped. We had a great weekend catching up with family and friends who lived locally. The fish and chips are a must and a Sunday roast at the George and Dragon (both in the marketplace) I am a bit of a ‘roast snob’ but the roast beef was amazing! The host is really helpful too. Would definitely recommend Madge House

Well supplied with kitchen equipment, utensils and condiments, nicely decorated and furnished, and a good, central location for visiting Ashbourne (which has some good pubs and restaurants, also a historic church). The lounge/dining/kitchen area was spacious, and the bathroom had a good shower, so our needs were well met. The apartment seemed to be well sound-proofed as we hardly noticed the traffic outside. Although the car park couldn't be accessed directly from Madge House, it was secure and safe.
We found it difficult to locate the accommodation, partly because I couldn't find the original detailed instructions on the Booking.com app, which may not be the host's fault. When I rang Mark he was very helpful, however.
When we got in, there was a black bag of the previous guests' rubbish on the kitchen floor, and towels still airing on a clothes horse, also there was no liquid soap in the hand basin and shower containers. However, none of these were big issues, particularly as the host had supplied two bars of soap. The apartment felt a bit clammy, and Mark explained that the extractor fan had been deactivated as it rather noisy. If we had really wanted to use a fan, though, there was a standing one available.

There was no internet. That really made it difficult to continue trip plans and take care of many other things without increasing phone charges.
Washer/dryer took hours to complete a cycle.

Lovely well located apartment in Ashbourne. The hosts very kindly let me check in slightly early as I needed to drop my stuff and head off to Sheffield for the evening. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. It is great to have a car parking space.

The apartment was incredibly clean and comfortable, and was beautifully decorated, the pictures on booking.com really don't do it justice. The hosts were wonderful and helpful with clear communication throughout. The property is well situated in the beautiful town of Ashbourne, and was a perfect way for my partner and I to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you so much to Mark and Ruth for sharing your wonderful slice of history with us.

The location was good for where we wanted to be. The property was clean comfortable and well equipped
Liked the chaise lounge, ideal for watching TV.
There was no hot water on arrival but this was resolved with a call to the host. The property was a bit ornate for us but if you like high ceilings and ornate furnishings you'll love it.
We struggled to find the property and not easy to park outside (located on the corner of a busy junction) or drop off luggage and pick up remote for the car parking.

Cupboards High we had a job to reach upper shelves. Didnt sort out Hob it seems you need to put pan on ring to make it work, well we learn even at 82yrs.

Location was excellent, very close to town centre, parking information and access information given were spot on overall very happy. Facilites at the flat were good
Difficult situation to balance, the flat is situated on the corner of a very busy junction, which under normal circumstances would be noisy, however the flat is triple glazed and noise was minimal, the down side is that while we were there it was very warm weather, and you cannot open any windows, just a fan to move the air

Facilities and decor are outstanding and of a high standard. Locality was ideal for amenities and places to visit.

Lovely location in Ashbourne Close to Dovedale and the Tissington trail. The apartment was amazing, felt like a little bit of luxury.

Location was good and comfortable furniture. The double glazing was effective as busy junction outside would have been noisy. Easy access. Plenty of toiletries on offer.
No tin opener or bread knife. The bathroom extractor fan did not work. No WiFi. Electronic gates for secure parking not there although we understand this was temporary.

Hosts had left chocolates, wine and milk as a welcome pack, which was an unexpected but lovely surprise.
Host very responsive when a minor problem was found, which they rectified in quick time.
Instructions provided for gaining entry to the building and apartment were easy to follow, which helped with the overall experience.
At the time of our visit the roads around and through Ashbourne were very busy. The apartment is located beside a road that was busy with many cars and large lorries passing close by. Not a pleasant atmosphere outside BUT once inside the apartment there is very little road noise and the traffic is not quite so noticeable.

It was the perfect staycation. Spacious clean and tidy, the decor inside was tastefully done. A warm and cosy feel. Great location too.
