The location was perfect for an idyllic getaway in the middle of nowhere. The pictures accurately reflect where you'll be staying so we had a good idea of the surroundings. The shower was really powerful, great after a long day (just a shame the water didn't drain away). Parking was ideally located opposite the building and Wastwater Lake is a 2 minute drive away. The inside of the building is a good-sized ground floor apartment, space for storage of shoes and coats, and a good area for lounge/ dining with a drop leaf table and 4 chairs.

The reviews showed that the property was clean which was one of the main reasons to choose it but there were spiders in every corner, the toilet wasn't cleaned, the bedsheets my son slept on weren't clean, the shower wouldn't drain water properly so it would get blocked during the shower, and there is mold on the ceilings. Also, considering the nearest shop with decent supplies is over 4 miles away, we were only given two toilet rolls for a 3-night stay (with 2 children), no milk provided, and no bin liner provided in the bathroom bin. There were also some freezer items left in the freezer from previous occupants.

AMAZING and idyllic location. Wasdale lake is just a km away from the cottage which was a pleasant surprise! Lots of hiking routes near the cottage and an ideal location for mountain climbing or water activities. Very warm and homely feel, mostly clean and tidy, fluffy pillows and the beds were super comfy.

Hot water seemed to run out in the morning which meant I had to have a cold shower! Though the cottage was clean and tidy throughout, the cleanliness of the toilet could have been better. The master bedroom was very small and there was little room on either side of the bed. The bedroom door also opens awkwardly against the bed which is not ideal as a tall person as your feet can hit the door whilst laying down to sleep. The location is very popular with visitors and the roads can get quite busy. Cars can be heard at night which can be disturbing if you're a light sleeper. The road just outside the gate leading to the cottage is a main road so extra care is needed when crossing over to the car park. Akin to other reviews, the cottage is tricky to find, however the owner did provide some information on getting to the cottage which was very useful.
