This is our second time using VRBO to book a property near Sugar Mountain. This location was ran by Vacasa and we’ve had issues with their properties both times. With this location, our check in got pushed to 6pm. Unfortunately, we already arrived at 4pm for the scheduled check in. We had to leave the property while the cleaning occurred. The other issue was with the hot tub. The filter system was detached and not working. By the time it was cleaned and fixed, we had to leave. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Vacasa properties to friends and family.

We specifically rented this cabin for our stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains due to it having a hot tub. The hot tub was inoperable upon arrival and was obviously inoperable for quiet a period of time as it barely had any water and was disgusting. We reached out immediately upon check in and got an automated service, no one ever came out. The place was not clean at all, there were cobwebs all over and stained bedding/towels. The heat barely worked downstairs. The hot water heater was not enough to accommodate 5 people. There were burnt out bulbs, TV had no subscriptions signed in or basic cable, WiFi was only WiFi 6 and did not have WiFi 5, therefore it did not support anything other than never devices. Having to take the trash off-site or being fined $100s is ridiculous. We already pay a cleaning fee, so why are we having to drop trash at the dump?
Reached out to the property management team, took weeks to get a response. Finally got with someone who said we would be getting a partial refund. Still have not seen this check despite calling back 3x times, being told it will be sent out, but now 3+ months have passed. Avoid this rental unless you want a generic cabin with very little home feeling. You can tell this is just operated by a management company who put as little effort into this as possible.

We loved this little cabin which is perfect for a family of 5. Everything was as suggested on the page except for the fact that none of the beds were made. After a long days travel I had to make 5 beds. Plus the towels were wet in the dryer so we had no towels for a shower or jacuzzi for a few hours. At this price I expect my beds to be made and the towels to be clean and dry. But besides that- we loved our stay.

Booked this cabin, in particular, because of the hot tub. During the week prior to our vacation, I noticed recent reviews about the hot tub not working and being found filthy when other guests checked in. Since the hot tub was one of the main reasons for our trip, I emailed the help address available in my booking confirmation email. Received an email saying that someone would get back to me. The following day, I called Vacasa multiple times. When I finally said that, because we were checking in about 24 hours later, I’d like to cancel and get a full refund. After I said that, someone called and assured me that maintenance confirmed that the hot tub is now working and that it gets cleaned every time someone checks out. First thing we did when we checked into the cabin was check out the hot tub, which of course, didn’t work AND was totally filthy. Called Vacasa multiple times that evening to no avail. Kept being told that someone would call me back, and no one ever did. Spent the first half of Friday morning frantically trying to find an available rental in the area with an operating hot tub and called Vacasa back to say that we were leaving that day to spend our vacation in another home. Was told that someone would call me back in reference to giving me a refund. That was 2 days ago, and I haven’t received a call or email. The cabin is clean, cozy, and adorable. It’s too bad it’s so mismanaged by Vacasa.

The location was at the bottom of the mountain and easy to get to a number of sights. When we arrived the hot tub was not in working order and very dirty. We reported it right away but then had to keep checking back in as we weren't getting updates and each time the response was there was no update from the local team. This was never fixed during our stay and no one seemed to care about and we never got proactive updates, we always had to ask. Coffee maker needs replaced, but there is also a Keurig

We loved staying at this cabin during our ski trip, excellent location, beautiful cabin, warm & cozy, private yet close to everything. Only 2 suggestions-1- hot tub should feel cleaner, there were pieces from hot tub cover floating in. 2- It would be nice to have more plush towels. Would definitely stay again.

Clean spacious and comfortable cabin which we expected. I hope they provide us a full roll of good quality paper towel and at least two full rolls of toilet paper. We were left with 1/2 roll of cheap paper towel and 2 pcs of 1/4 roll of toilet papers. We have to buy our own. We are paying full price, I hope this is a consideration. A chopping board will be useful.

This is a very nice cabin for 2-4 people (upstairs loft is just a bunk bed fyi) in a great location close to Banner Elk. We would stay here again, but would hope that some details are better attended to. We noticed at least 4 light bulbs in the cabin that were out, a small deal obviously, but it speaks to attention to detail. The kitchen, while generally well stocked, was missing some items like a cutting board (I tried to slice veggies on a glass plate before reverting to a plastic place mat) and actual matching lids for the various pots/pans in the cupboard. Also was annoyed that is no way to view regular over the air broadcast TV signals for Sunday football/world cup... if you have a 65 inch TV and internet service you can also afford a $50 antenna for HD OTA signals. Sadly this is a trend in many rental properties - just use roku/streaming and forget the rest...

Beautiful Mountain Home
This was a very clean and comfortable vacation home. It was 5 mins from skiing but felt like we had our own space on the mountain. The fireplace and hot tub were perfect after a day on the slopes.

The cabin was in a quiet neighborhood. It was close to Sugar Mountain and downtown Banner Elk. The cabin was very charming and they even put up decorations as we spent Christmas there. Fire pit and hot tub were a bonus!!!

Great log cabin feel!
Lovely little cabin for my kids first mountain ski experience! Hot tub was a great bonus. Had everything you needed in a quaint setting! 4wd in snow season a must! We will be back!

This cabin was perfect for us and our friends while here for a wedding. After reading other reviews and having stayed at many rentals the past few years, I was nervous about cleanliness. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean this place was! Very well organized in the kitchen cabinets also!
We definitely took advantage of the hot tub and fire pit!

Adorable Cabin!
This cabin was perfect for us and our friends while here for a wedding. After reading other reviews and having stayed at many rentals the past few years, I was nervous about cleanliness. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean this place was! Very well organized in the kitchen cabinets also!

This is a good cabin if you find it at the right price. The location is pretty good. There is a grocery store a few minutes down the road if you need anything. The hot tub isn't covered so if it's raining/snowing hard you may not be able to use it. Luckily it just sprinkled on us so it was pretty good with the cool rain actually. The furniture could use an upgrade. The chair next to the couch is very worn out. The couch is OK. The bed is a little too firm for me but I'm sure it's fine for most people. I liked that the decorating was fairly minimal so the cabin didn't feel overly cluttered with themed junk crammed in every spot they could find like a lot of other rental cabins. It seemed very clean for the most part. It smelled very clean when we walked in. The only thing we saw was a few cobwebs above the shower but it wasn't really a problem.. I've seen worse in these cabins before. They really should spend an extra $20 a month and put HD channels on the cable package instead of just standard definition. It rained a lot on our trip so many of the outdoor stuff we planned got canceled and we spent a decent amount of time in the cabin watching tv, cooking, and using the hot tub. If you're going to put an HD TV in the cabin, provide HD channels. It's 2021. A lot of light bulbs were blown. None of the bulbs in the upstairs room worked. And a few others didn't work either. Since we didn't need that room and were only gonna be there a couple days we didn't bother calling to have them replaced. They don't have outside dumpsters so you have to haul your trash to the community dump/recycling center a few miles down the road. Overall I would stay here again if the price is right.

Had a fantastic golf trip with this cabin as our home base. There are at least 4 golf courses within 20 min with sugar being a 2 min drive! Such a relaxing setting to come back to after a long day of activities. Clean and nice amenities. Will definitely be back.
