I love el valle will always return
Slow response by stuff, not clear details. No one knows how to give correct information. Due to lack of information, my stay went a bit awkward. I even got jetlag, and that's a lot to sat by a Dominican.

The location and El Valle as a town is the only positive thing I can mention about this place.
Usually I am no one to write long reviews, but our stay at this hostel was so bad that I have to blow off some steam. This might have been the worst experience I have ever had in a hostel.
When we first got there, nobody was there to receive us. We had to come back one hour later just to be told to go to another lodge to do our check-in. The lodge we then went to didn’t really know about that either. Our final check-in consisted of a woman showing us our rooms. There were no keys to our rooms and no helpful information about who we could contact in case of a problem.
When we got to our rooms, we were shocked. They didn’t look anything like the pictures shown before. The rooms were dirty, especially the bathrooms; the mosquito nets had holes, and there were spider webs on the shower. The same can be said about the rest of the hostel. The kitchen was dirty and dirty dishes were lying around everywhere. The pool that looked very nice in the pictures was dirty as well and could not be used.
We could not get a decent sleep at night either. While the sounds of nature we could listen to were very calming, our sleep was disturbed regularly by different kinds of noises. The hostel is next to a party location where an open-air disco took place, so there was extremely loud music playing until four o’clock (we had to get up at 7 to visit a tour we booked in Samaná). Due to the holes in the mosquito nets, we also had to deal with a bunch of unwanted visitors at night and our toilet was constantly pumping water with a very loud noise. So all in all we got to sleep about two hours in the first night.
From the next day on, there was no water available, and it didn’t work for more than 30 hours until we left the next. Electricity regularly stopped working as well, sometimes for hours.
What made this experience even worse was that there was no one we could talk to about all this whatsoever. There was no staff or manager present who we could complain to.

The location is great! I liked the private room and the chill area around the pool.
The people working at the hostel are very nice!
The bathroom is nice but would rather prefer a separation between the toilets and the shower to avoid all the water around.
I had a good sleep the first time but unfortunately not the second night, really loud ecstatic music not coming from the hostel!

Great decor and space to meet other travellers. All the staff and the manager, Ana, were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Diez puntos!!
The hangovers and sunburn at a beach that is way too close.
Kidding! I liked everything yo!

Able to relax, sounds of nature and close to the beach.
Very close to a night club so if you think you're going to get peace and quiet, you won't.

This place is a must! Definetely our favorite place to stay during our round-trip in the DomRep. Starting with a drive through a Jurassic-Park-looking jungle, only 300m from the beach to this absolutely gourgous natural-vibing place. Sleeping in the bungalows is a dream, kind-of having a shower in the nature, the three girls that are running the place in the moment are perfect and kind hosts. In the evening it is also a place to connect and eat well.
We wanna come back to badly!
If we had to say something, it would only be that the pool pump seems to be loud during the night not having any noises other than crickets that could cover it up. No reason not to come...

Didn't have breakfast. The location was nice.
It rained a lot so the open air outdoor experience was difficult.

Beautiful hostel right in the jungle - an enchanted place with fireflies and amazing bamboo architecture
Bring earplugs!

Location
This place is a joke. Do not stay here, its a total rip off. Its run by voluntary people who don't get paid in exchange for a a bed and guess what, they don't have the capacity bout making things right. Everyone it's really nice and polite but the place needs to get things going properly if they want to keep it as a biz.
1. The pool looks like a lake , it's green water dirty and stagnant, sofas are dirty, there are parts of the floor with uneven surfaces by the pool so watch out to not fall.
2. The place is full to say the least with mosquitos because of the ponds around The rooms have this mosquito net full of holes so you think you are going to sleep peacefully but in reality you will get eaten alive by mosquitos that make their way in from the holes. Or like me after the third day here will wake up at 3am with sellow tape in my hand to cover the patches of this net amd killing 7 of them
3. Yes you sleep in the jungle amd hear all the jungle noises but you will not really sleep because there are like 8 dogs barking always from 4am and also some sort of dinosaur that moooo like a cow every half an hour for the whole night every night so you keep waking up. (Maybe donkeys?) Even my wife deep sleeper could not sleep.
4. There is not hot water in the rooms, okay only at the reception but it will only work after you asked several times to one of the reception girls that turn on the boiler or whatever they are using so that you can have a shower by the reception.
5. Sometimes you will stay the whole day till 7pm without water and no electricity because for 90 $ / day per room they don't even have a generator or a plan B or a battery or a Chinese guy on a bicycle pedaling to produce electricity. But nope, they leave all the guests with candles. Yes it is Romantic but not practical. Especially if you have a family or maybe you are a lady with your period. While other places will have a back up plan when electrify goes.

the premises and the room were very romantic and cozy. decoration is great, I would overall recommend it
It was obvious that most of the staff were volunteering or very new. There isn't any organisation regarding the staff, (they weren't expecting us when we got there, the person who was at reception didn't have any information about which our room was. When he called in the person who was supposed to do the check ins, María, her answer was that she wasn't coming down because it wasn't her turn to work at that hour. This same person, after meeting her, completely forgot that had met us the day after and introduced herself again... she was super spacey.
We could hear several times other volunteers from the staff critizising the organisation of their tasks among other critics... overall the staff was nice but very desorganized.
We lost electricity and water for several ours, which of course, can happen in this remote places, no one ever warned us about it. We NEVER had warm or hot waterduring our stay, nobody warned us about it...
We booked breakfast for the day after our arrival, and nobody even told us that the breakfast was in a restaurant from another hotel, they didn't have any information about the breakfast whatsoever

First of all, the staff is very friendly and helpful. That is, of you can find them. They were almost never there. Although after complaining to their neighbour, we really appreciated their compensation.
Second, the actual infrastructure is supercool. The idea is amazingly beautiful (with the bamboo, also the rooms are really nice, as well as the dorm) and surrounded by nature. Could be a 5 start hotel!
That being said, the place lacks in maintenance. Everything is really worn down (broken sun loungers, wet and broken cushions in the lobby- if there are cushions bc most seats are empty and just wood) and needs to be looked at. The place does not resemble the photos anymore unfortunately. We were also in the impression that you could use the kitchen - as said in the description (shared kitchen) - this is not the case. Also the bar is not there. There is a sign for beers but nobody to sell it to you.
Regarding our room - which is really beautiful of you like to be one with natur - our roof was leaking so when it rained, we got wet in our bed 😅. Then there is superbad wifi, we did not care about that very much, but also the electricity and therefore the water cuts out very often. You need to prepare for that: we needed to leave on a tour the next morning very early but could not use our cellphones for the gps as they did not charge during the night, we were sweaty bc the fan was out due to the lack of electricity and could not take a shower in the morining.
We were really disappointed bc the place has AMAZING potential but needs (a lot more) maintenance, a present staff and maybe rewrite the kitchen / bar thing so people are aware of this (as we brought all of our drinks and food 🙈). But if you adjust your expectations a bit, this is a really beautiful place ! :)

El Valle is a really cool and remote place with jungle feeling. I also really liked the Ganesh Hostel, although you need to adapt your expectations to what you really get. The staff is quite nice and tried to help with most of your issues. Everything is really (!) laid-back and simple.
Although the place is super cool and stylish, it could be maintained a lot better. As mentioned by others, our mosquito net also had holes which brought us severe mosquito bites and a cockroach. We had booked the chalet, where you definitely have some privacy although no doors, which was still fine for us. However, the energy supply is apparently very tricky in El Valle. We didn't have electricity and water for like 12 hours and the wifi was poor the whole stay. Furthermore, one night there was loud techno music at the pool until 6:30am which made sleeping impossible. All in all, it is a cool place, but just too expensive for what you get.

The staff was very friendly and always happy :)
Unfortunately there were several power and/or water outages.

The staff
Could not have been better
Already mentioned. Oh, no water in the room. No glasses. Very thoughtless arrangement.

Love it. The place is amazing it is really of the world. Great design and the beach felt like in the middle of the jungle.
There is some food also in the hostel. Volunteers were super nice.
Due to Covid the nearly only possibility is getting there by motoconcho. But it is easy from Samana.
