It would be very helpful to renters if information were provided for garbage and recycling days, if specific information was provided on how to operate the living room television. It was very frustrating to us. The owners should write up a simple sheet on how it operates. It took more than 3 days for someone to come and give us instruction. We really appreciated Mike's help! It would be helpful if the rental office would tell renters that the key code box is on the door. Old ones are on the outside wall and it is confusing. Our condo was very clean; however the lanai was not swept or vaccumed and there was a lot of sand on it.

Reviewer Comments: The security person who "helped" us our first night did not seem to understand what he was doing - we had three people in our car checking in together past 9pm at night, he told us only one person could check in at a time, and when the intercom kept hanging up we had to re-tell him who we were and what we wanted, and he told us the intercom was on a timer and we had to "talk faster". The fact that there was only one air conditioning unit in the rental made it difficult to get ready in the morning b/c it was hot in the bathroom. Overall, however, the location was good and convenient to where I had to be each day and if I were there on vacation it would have been fine, although I still would prefer to have air conditioning in rooms other than just the bedroom.

The unit was clean and well stocked with the essentials we needed (utensils, cleaning supplies, salt & pepper, cooking spray, clothes hangers in the closet, etc.) If you have not been to a tropical climate, be aware there are always bugs, ants, and other crawling things. We saw some, but were not bothered by them because we put everything away. All food opened or not went into the fridge, freezer, microwave so the crawlies could not get to them we emptied the trash quickly and frequently. We did not leave out dirty dishes, or any food. Except for once on the counter while we watched the sunset. The dirty dishes got a few tiny crawlies on them. We made not of our mistake and didn't do it again. I would stay here again. It was wonderful to have a screened in porch, where we could sit without being eaten by mosquitos.

This was our 1st trip with VRBO, but not our 1st trip to Hawaii. I have been visiting Oahu for 20+ years, and have never experienced this bad of a cockroach problem or slower customer service. The unit is extremely old and poorly maintained - to a point where we felt it was unhygienic and that we needed to buy our own pillows! During our first night, a large cockroach crawled across my face and I awoke to my worst nightmare. It was all downhill from there - we found dead roaches around the condo and several live ones running across the floors on a daily basis. I messaged the host the very next day - for the next several days, actually - and NEVER received any acknowledgement. Their listed phone line on the reservation was also never answered. The only way of reaching them was via their "after-hours emergency" phone number, which I luckily found after digging through an email sent from a do-not-reply email address. By the time we confirmed maintenance to come spray repellant (over a week into the trip), we had already taken matters into our own hands. We drove cross-island to buy specialty repellant and doused the unit parameters with the entire bottle. What's worse - management inconvenienced our WFH day and had us leave the unit while they were supposed to come spray - only to find that they never showed. We weren't given any communication about the no-show. We had to call (the emergency # again bc no one answers the other #) to make sure the deed was done, only to find that it wasn't and that we had to reschedule. We were staying during COVID, so relocating was less than ideal, and nearby accommodation supply was slim to none. We were trapped in this cockroach infested unit for 3 whole weeks. Tbh, I never got one good night's rest the entire stay. Whilst going back and forth with management about receiving some form of refund for all the trouble that we endured, management said (copied in directly from email), "After speaking with the professional exterminator, he thinks something may have hatched inside the wall or in the unit next to yours, (we do not manage the unit next to you.)" How does this not warrant some form of refund?! And if you are aware of the unit having roach issues regularly, then why haven't you forewarned potential future travelers? Why don't you supply the unit with the necessary repellent supplies? We are beyond disappointed with this experience. Save yourselves the $ and roach nightmares, and book elsewhere!

At least last 22 years, staying at condo at the Estate at Turtle bay. We always enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. During last few years, the check-in procedure and policy have changed. One of the changes is early check-in. I understand that check in time is 3:00 PM and there is early check-in charge of $75. Most hotels also have a fee for early check in, however they will hold the guest's luggage or if the room is ready, they will let the guests check in even a couple hours prior to their check-in time with no charge. This time our schedule changed and we arrived before noon by taxi. We went to our unit. The house keeper was there to clean the unit. We asked the lady if we can put our food inside the refrigerator. She was very helpful and let us store our food. She even made room for our luggage instead of leaving our luggage outside the unit. She told us to come back in about 2 hours, so we gave her a tip for her help and went to the golf course restaurant to have lunch. We returned to 191 around 2:30 when she was ready to leave. Later the manager told us that since we checked in earlier than 3 PM they will charge us $75. My friend couldn't believe what she heard, so explained the situation to her and asked to wave $75 just for 30 minutes. SHE SAID "No This is our policy. If they check in earlier than 3PM they will be charged $75" We were very disappointed with her heartless reply. Later we found out that room telephone wasn't working and nobody could call our unit. The kitchen faucet also broken. We stayed the same unit in last September for 10 days. We had the same problem with the phone and had to wait three days for a technician to fix. Over last 20 years, we have experienced similar problems, however no one ever apologized nor offered any compensation for our inconveniences. This is how they treat a guest who has been loyal for over 20 years?

Kitchen is fully stocked with a variety of small appliances (those should be listed in description, would help when stopping at the grocery store on the way into checking in) plus the bathroom does have a hair dryer (it's listed as not having one- important detail when packing!) the only bummer is the garbage man comes every day and there are dumpsters right outside the living room lanai. For anyone sleeping on the sofa bed, it makes for a noisy awakening. One thing to note: the lint trap in the dryer needs to be replaced. The mesh is missing on the bottom of it so all that lint is going into the dryer. This is a fire hazard.

Place was clean in general except by some of the plates and glasses that were dirty and we had to clean before using. We also had a problem with ants, we had to throw away some food because they completely dominated some of our brand new food, and we had to keep everything in the fridge. But we did not enjoy less because of it, I recommend and I ́ll be happy to return.

When we arrived on Sunday the housekeeper had not cleaned so we had to wash the bed linens and make up the bed, sweep the kitchen and wash so towels, but the next morning I called and the housekeeper came over at 1:00 PM and did a nice cleaning job. The lanai was still dirty so I just swept it out. For the price it was a nice place to stay in that area. Having Turtle Bay Resort close by gave us a great place to enjoy the beach and to take long walks. Be aware that you can use the beach at Turtle Bay but not the chairs and umbrellas. You can rent snorkling gear and bicycles at a little shop outside the resort. The restaurant at the resort is very pricey so we loaded up with groceries at the nearest store about 6 miles away by the Polynesian Cultural Center. The pools at the condo were clean but the one closest to our condo needed an access code instead of the key so we just asked someone who was there what the code was and used it. We found a great little library of books in the gazebo where the grills were located. Our instruction letter was long but didn't tell us check out instructions, access to the one pool code or that we had some great books in the cupboard at the gazebo. The area is a little remote.
