Very charming old hotel with history. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, quiet. Restaurant with dinner and excellent breakfast. It has an inside swimming pool and sauna, which we did not use, because arrived late.

Room cleaning could be better. The carpet on the floor was not vacuum cleaned properly. Found some old child toys behind the bed.

This hotel used to be stylish and quite high level when it belonged to Bilderberg. Since it is Fletcher owned it has become less attractive. Access to rooms old fashioned with keys (no cards). Hardware in general looks worn out. Some superficial renovations have been done but as a whole very mediocre. Staff unexperienced. I was going to the golf nearby, the girl at the reception could not tell me how get there ... while the hotel is sponsor of the golf this seems odd... Food in the restaurant in the evening very mediocre quality. Limited choice and wine list rather poor. Unfortunately the well reputed restaurant Kromme Dissel next door was closed that day ... Staff in the bar was half of the time absent and you needed to call them out of the kitchen for service. Very polite people but did not show real interest in the customer.

The food was disgusting, a lot of empty places in the restaurant and we were not allowed to choose our table. Some room for improvement there.

Dinner in the adjacent Michelin* restaurant De Kromme Dissel, and sleep here in a basic but fine hotel for a friendly price. Breakfast was fine too.

The staff. A lack of warmth, interest and blunt statements (not language related as I spoke mostly Dutch with them). so disappointing since it is not just the bed we pay for but the experience. Not sure if training is provided by a seasoned, successful hospitality trainer? If yes, our rotation during our stay must have been sitting in the back of class.
