I have stayed in many cottages and never written a review. I feel compelled to write a review of Hope Terrace because of the attention to detail. We stayed over Christmas and the cottage was beautifully decorated - which really enhanced our stay. Everything had been thought of, the cottage was equipped with all of the modern conveniences we have in homes including Google, a coffee machine and wireless speakers. There were comprehensive instructions for everything in the cottage, especially the heating (which I often struggle with in holiday cottages). The beds were extremely comfortable - again something that is usually a problem in holiday cottages. We very much enjoyed our stay, thank you for all the little touches.

Lovely house, very clean warm and cosy, everything you need is supplied even toys for the children. Helen is a lovely lady and can't do enough for you, Helen even put up the Christmas tree and decorations as we were there for the Matlock Christmas markets thankyou Helen we did have a wonderful stay 😀 😊 ❤️
Nothing everything was perfect no negatives at all. The only slight change would be a little bit more fuel for the log burner, as there was nowhere local to get any, (even if it was an extra charge) we did take some with us but could have done with a little more 😉

Spacious and well-equipped house. Comfortable beds. Nice views. Very convenient, being just a short walk into Matlock Bath. Helpful host.

We had a fabulous week staying at Hope Cottage. It's the perfect base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District, and the house is so well-equipped that we had everything we needed and more. We all slept fantastically thanks to the very comfortable beds and location on a quiet street - no noise from the busy A6! The views from the bedroom windows were a joy to wake up to every morning. Our boys really appreciated the stash of toys and books, and in general there were so many thoughtful touches that really set Hope Cottage apart from the usual holiday let. Definitely an address to remember for our next trip to this idyllic part of the world.
Not a huge gripe but the top bathroom shower temperature was a bit variable - one minute it was boiling hot, the next freezing cold, even when nobody was taking water elsewhere in the house. Just something to be aware of with small children.

Bedrooms pleasant. Dishwasher very useful and oven and grill very useful.
Holme Road - directions turning point needs to be amended to say 'Balti'. Harsh weather conditions and no drying area to dry out 5 people's clothing. Central heating - cold mornings on 3 days did not come on automatically. Coal local suppliers - not indicated and we ran out twice, necessitating a special car journey. Kitchen - poor frying pans causing pancakes to 'sticks and poor cooking tins for oven which were hard to clean. Second car parking unavailable on local streets. Parked at local railway station at a cost of £6 overnight and through the day. Directed to 'save' cardboard and plastic in same container, but requested to 'sort' recycling of these two types of materials later. I trapped my finger in the dining chair moving my chair closer to the table. There is a gap between the upright leg and the cross member of the chair seat. It was painful and caused a blood blister.

The house is beautiful, the kitchen and living room are huge..plenty of room for everyone. Beds were very comfortable and had amazing views from the windows. The whole house was spotless. The host very kindly left a welcome package of chocs, biscuits, bottle of fizz. We also really appreciated the efforts made with the xmas decorations, really made it special. The house is in an amazing location, with lots to see and do.
It would have been useful to have a clothes dryer/rack...it was a bit wet when we stayed so somewhere to dry clothes would have been good! Such a small thing, definitely more or a suggestion than a criticism.

What a super time!
Gorgeous little cottage, kitchen diner lovely and spacious, cozy lounge room with fire, bathrooms modern and clean. Views beautiful!
Perfectly situated for quaint local villages, Chatsworth, restaurants, pubs and takeaways (more fish n chip shops the you can poss imagine!) walking etc.
Has all the amenities and cleaning supplies... Plus bottle of prosecco, which was lovely, and thoroughly enjoyed :)
V tricky to access with car, roads steep and tight. We parked at bottom and walked up and down.

This is a beautiful property with lots of character, had all the comforts of home with a lovely welcome bottle of bubbly. As there were only 2 of us we didn’t use the top level, main bedroom on the first floor had a very comfortable bed & beautiful views. There is a small sitting area out the front which due to the good weather we used. Although parking was tight we were able to fit our estate car in the private parking space at the front of the property.
Nothing, great stay and would highly recommend.
Only word of caution would be if anyone had mobility issues as the property is up a steep hill and stairs in the property are quite steep.

Location was fab, beautiful views from the windows and very peaceful. A few mins walk to the train station and Heights of Abraham, and main street of Matlock Bath. House very comfy and cosy and lovely decoration. Fully equipped kitchen with absolutely everything you need for a fab stay. Really enjoyed our short stay, which we could have been there a few more days but glad we made it before we are locked down again! We travelled with our 2 teens and they loved the house and the location.
Nothing it was all good.
