Good central location in Carlisle, but looking tired at the edges. Dog friendly bedrooms. Our small double was a suitable description but perfectly adequate for a two night stay. Bathroom had a good shower over the bath and the bed comfortable. A decent breakfast was served with a good range of cooked items at the buffet.

Though the hotel was described as dog friendly, for which a charge is made, they were not allowed in the dining or breakfast room! Either you are dog friendly or you’re not! Coffee at breakfast was like dishwasher!

The staff are amazing friendly and very helpful. We were allowed to book in earlier as our train got us in @ 10.10 am from Liverpool.

Great location, car parking, breakfast and this time I went for 'executive single'. Much bigger room and bed. Reception Staff helpful re forgotten phone charger.

Room was cold in the night and duvet very thin. No blanket in wardrobe. Shower over bath difficult to operate.

Hotel needed a face-lift, rooms and decor a bit tired looking with an ancient rickety lift

The bathroom looked fairly new and the shower was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. A good amount of tea and coffee sachets were provided. Breakfast was very nice and the room it was held in was nicely decorated. The general feel of the hotel is nice, giving a sense of the building's history, reception is especially nice. The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the cathedral and castle.

The carpet looked a bit stained and grubby, same with the chair by the desk. The thin curtain behind the main set had a dark mark on it too. There was a hole in the tiles around the bath and the toilet was a pain to flush. The door to the room was a little stiff to open. The decor was very dated, felt like stepping into the 1950s. The vessel containing the tea and coffee needs to be cleaned, as does the bottom of the kettle and the draw it is kept in.

Old style gives the feel of the glamor of a bygone age. Stained glass, ornate details, and quirky twists and turns. I didn’t swim, but like that they also have an indoor pool. Good location right on the square.

Characterful and located in the centre of Carlisle’s historic old town. The swimming pool was an added bonus.

Location was in the city centre. And the breakfast was great. It is a building with history, with decorations bringing you back to the Victoria Era. Some facilities might not be that modern because of that but overall are all good.

The car park was right behind the hotel but takes 6 mins extra drive to finally find it. And they need to have staff open the gate for you every time you leave/return. But the staff was timely on that. If you travel by car, make sure to ask the staff to give you the address of the car park instead of navigating to the front door.

The bed was so comfy and the staff helpful and friendly.

We did not like having to wait to get into our room we arrived from 2pm and still didn't get into our room until 3-45/4pm the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze to get through the door could have done being a bit bigger and the fact that we couldn't get full use of the TV as the remote control was not working so that was a let down the duvet had a small hole in it. The lift also was needing fix car park could be doing with an uplift to make it easier for access to it and could be a lot bigger.
