Small and cosy hotel, meaning very quiet and relaxing. The pool area is very nice and the staff very friendly.
The room was too dark. Only a small window (besides the room door). That was strange, specially in a beach destination. In compensation the pool is just in front of the room and very pleasant to stay relaxing.
The prices at the restaurant are too inflated. Better and cheaper food in any restaurant around. Same for the airport transfer and the tours offered.

This was a great hotel on the beach just north of Paje. We booked the deluxe sea view room and it looked nothing like the photos online - they have redone this room (I don't which others were redecorated but not all of them - this was September 2024). It was such a nice surprise! It was all shades of sand - calm and relaxing with modern, light wood furniture. If they do all the rooms like this it will be an outstanding hotel. The private deck with the sea view was fantastic with very comfortable chairs for reading or relaxing. The shower was the best we had in Africa! The bed was very comfortable.
The pool area was great too - a bit bigger than it looks online. They also had comfortable chairs to relax right by the beach. We had a wonderful beachside Zanzibar spice massage too!
The restaurant had delicious food - we had breakfast here, one lunch and one dinner and all was good. The staff is friendly and eager to help. The beach here does have some seaweed but we still enjoyed walking on it. When we were there it was low tide for much of the daytime hours and so swimming would be hard.
We walked down to Paje one day (only do this at low tide as your path will be cut off by higher water) and had lunch and swam there, then took a taxi back.
We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at this hotel.
The beach has a lot of seaweed but this is not the fault of the hotel - just be aware. Paje beach is nearby which seemed to be more clear and we walked there.

We really enjoyed our stay there and the staff were amazing, breakfast is good but I wish if they have like an open buffet or extra option.

Peaceful
Staff were friendly, even too friendly, but not effective or professional. The food was not good.

The Hotel Assistant Manager, Mollel, went out of his way to make this an exceptional stay. He was welcoming, considerate with a friendly but professional approach to clients. I highly recommend Sahari for the comfort, aesthetics and personnel.
The stay was too short

Was nice to be separated from Paje but within an easy walking distance. Was quiet and relaxing, and the pool was very nice.
We had some issues with our room that seemed to only result in apologies, but no actions. We felt like we were being super flexible, but the only solution was offered by me after they just tried the apology route (which was then actioned). We just left feeling that it wasn't quite the experience we had hoped for. Also, they arranged pickup from Stone Town which was $60usd, and that was almost double what we were able to easily find heading back. Between that and over inflated tour prices, I wasn't a fan of the fact that the hotel seemed to either not be advocating for their guests to get a good price, or were getting a cut of the inflated price.

Great staff. Want to thank George in particular, when we arrived there was an issue with the room we were provided. George sorted this out promptly and professionally. I was very impressed with how quickly he resolved the issue. George's assistant Mollel was also super helpful. The staff in the restaurant and the guys who run the activity desk were really nice and kind people as well. I've never met such polite people!
Located outside of Paje on a really nice bit of beach-lots going on as you chill with a drink and watch the world go by.
The Pool area is really nice and well designed.
Some of the rooms feel overpriced for what you get. As stated above George did a good job in sorting this out for us but its worth being aware that the pictures shared on booking.com don't reflect all the rooms at Sahari.

A very chill hotel close to the beach where there are quite few tourists.
Breakfast was ok with mostly egg and fruits. Would love to have more type of spreads and ham.
Extremely friendly staff.

Amazing location, right on the beach. The hotel has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, mainly due to the very friendly staff. If you want to unwind this is the place to come. We will absolutely be coming back.

What a fantastic place! My expectations were exceeded and I felt like part of a family during my stay. I travelled alone and felt very looked after. Anything I needed, it was arranged for me with the best service. The reception staff are amazing, always smiling, laughing and checking if you’re ok. The room was nice and cleaned everyday. The pool is beautiful and the hotel is very quiet and relaxing. It’s not too far from paje (7 min drive approx) - you can ask the reception to call a taxi (around 8 dollar return) or a motorbike (around 2 dollar return). I bought some books, pencils, shoes, bag, etc. for the children at the school next to the hotel and reception helped me to arrange it and assisted me to the shops and school. Thank you for assisting me in giving to the children - it was a fantastic experience! If you decide to book this hotel, I would recommend you give the school opposite the hotel a visit and assist by giving what you can to the children in need! The restaurant and cleaning staff were also very friendly and always smiling. I really felt at home, and I appreciate how much they took care of me. I felt a lot more at ease being a female solo traveler. Wishing all the hotel staff good health, happiness and prosperity- Asante!

Absolutely stunning place. I have been in many other hotels in Zanzibar with higher stars but Zahari is really the best value for money and overall experience.

Very nice little hotel located in Bweju, on the beach. Location is about 20- 25 min walk on the beach to Paje. For those that don't know already, Paje is a rather chaotic place, noisy and crowded, so Bweju it's like an oasis of peace of tranquility, and still close enough to chaos, if you want to have some :)
The hotel consists in about 15 rooms almost all in a very interesting African main building, all the rooms in this building having a balcony facing the sea. Rooms are big and confortable, there is a second bed that can accomodate even an adult.
Pool is also very nice. The porch and the outdoor space is full of all kinds of build in lounge spaces/lounge beds that allows you to conforatable enjoy some shadow, if you like.
There is a restaurant serving very good food, Italian and Asian style, but it's a little pricy, prices are comparable with any city center restaurant in Europe. Pizza is delicios, just like in Italy.
Personnel are very nice, they are most welcoming, trying to meet every need, and they speak also Italian and English.
We felt wonderfull, and walking along the beach towards Paje, it seemed like the best hotel around.

The staff was very kind and very interested in providing the best care for their guest (and since I was the only guest one night (beginning of rainy season) the care was exceptional and individual;)!
The weather - I had loved to go diving one day, but hey so there was more time for kahawa baridi (iced coffee;)

the pool is amazing, the rooms also, the whole hotel is very well maintained. the staff were all very friendly and nice. we had a great time! the hotel is a good 20min walk from the busy and crowded Paje beach and we preferred its quieter location whilst still being able to walk or bike on the beach into Paje.
the beach in front of the hotel is just nice to look at, not for swimming so much, but we did not miss it, because the pool was just amazing
