We stayed for a week this year, after a month stay last September . Only complaint was it was only a week . We love love this place . What a location . What a view . Easy distance from downtown Camden and Camden hills state park . Hope to be back next year as well.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. We visited in early November, and despite a major windstorm on our first night and some freezing temperatures later in the week, the cottage was perfectly comfortable - we were snug as a bug. We enjoyed the luxurious shower and the well-outfitted kitchen. Each morning we could sit out on the deck and watch the sunrise and the lobster boats at work. The cottage is located within easy walking distance of Camden Hills State Park and a longer but very manageable walk into town. We will be returning!

A Maine Coast Gem
The wide ocean view, the spacious and connected living-dining area, and the warm decor overall made our stay truly wonderful. We loved scrambling on the rocks along the coast at low tide. If you’re looking for a tranquil spot close to great offerings (Mt. Battie hiking, Camden dining, and more), this is it. Hope to be back!

Great return trip!
This was our second stay in Penobscot Cottage, and it did not disappoint! In a year where we've had very little chance to get away, this was exactly what we needed. Amazing views and peaceful. We explored the rocky beach, watching crabs and snails in the tidal pool, and found sea urchins and mussels amongst the rocks. We were able to launch our paddleboards right in front of the cottage and explore the coastline from the water. Camden shops, boats, and restaurants were a 5 minute drive, and we did some antiquing along the coast. Just what we needed, and Evelyn is a great host!

Idyllic Vacation
We had a wonderful stay at Evelyn's Penobscot Cottage. The view from the deck was spectacular - even better than we were expecting from the pictures. The kitchen had everything you would want, the beds were comfortable, and the cottage was charming. We hope to be back!

Wonderful stay
We were there for 2 weeks. Cottage is cozy, snug, and delightful. View of Penobscot Bay from the deck was awesome- we never tired of it.No negatives and strongly recommended, especially for a couple.

Nice views and solid location
Facilities could use some attention
Deck railing unsafe
Unfinished is OK but sheet rock would keep things warmer or cooler as temp varies
Had fun and relaxed

Spectacular ocean cottage
The views and orientation are every bit as wonderful as the listing suggests. We were very happy and comfortable with the place overall.

Beautiful setting,
The setting was beautiful. Sun rises and sun sets were awesome. We saw a porpoise from the deck of the house and enjoyed the tidal changes. Owner was very responsive to resolving all unexpected issues. We enjoyed out stay.

Charming cottage with best Maine view ever
Our charming cottage overlooked Penobscot Bay. It featured a wonderful plant-filled deck to catch the sun and bay view. Inside it was clean and eclectically decorated with comfy chairs and beds and a well stocked kitchen. Better than advertised.

Better Than We Expected
I can honestly say that the house was much more then we expected when we headed up for our week in Maine. It was spotless when we arrived. The siting, overlooking the Bay, was tranquil, peaceful and beautiful.
The location, deep in the woods but literally minutes to downtown Camden was incredibly convenient.
Over the course of the week we noticed little artistic details both inside and outside the home that delighted my wife and me.
All in all, an outstanding visit in a great little seaside cottage.

Wonderful except can get too hot
We had a wonderful stay at this cottage and Evelyn was extremely quick for any questions/inquiries. The tide pool is amazing and we enjoyed the rustic cottage which has almost everything you need. The only issue we had was some sweltering heat. I realize many rentals in Maine do not have AC since often it's not needed, however the cottage is perched up and in the sun, and on hot days it heats up until very late in the evening. Even using all the fans, curtains, windows, etc. we had several extremely hot days and it was very hard to remain comfortable, or our children to get to sleep until very late in the evening after the heat of the day lifted. When we left today it was an extreme heat wave (90's) and I couldn't imagine being there in this atypical heat. I hope the owner can look into a small unit to cool the cottage on hot days as there is no relief from the sun. Also a sun umbrella on the porch would be helpful too as it is all in direct sun. We loved this cottage despite these two things, and realize heat is totally outside the owners control and hey it's Maine and often cooler. The neighbors were lovely, very nice and thoughtful and we enjoyed playing in the tide pool, renting a kayak, etc. so had a great time but hope something can be done to address how hot the cottage can get.

Idyllic Bayfront Retreat
WOW. What a place. Quiet, stunning setting. Tastefully appointed cottage. Beautiful landscaping. Roomier than in the pictures. Great kitchen setup. We had almost all our meals here. Super convenient to Camden and Lake Megunticook, or just watch and listen to the tide come in and out. If you like being right by the water, it’s hard to beat Penobscot Cottage. We look forward to coming back.

Nothing like being on the ocean in a beautiful cottage. We had everything we could want, the cottage is bigger than pictured, the deck is devine. Very clean. The location is perfect, great food all around and very close and handy to anything you would want.
I would recommend this spot to anyone. Thanks for such a charming memory.

Beautiful Cottage by the Sea
Clean and tidy well equipped cottage overlooking a tidal pool and the ocean. Private location half mile off main road. Its just around the corner from Camden Hills which offers incredible hiking and stunning views. Easy in to Camden for shopping and restaurants.
The cottage is fully equipped for meals at home. The beds are very comfortable. Windows and deck look out to the ocean and islands. The big masted schooners from Camden sail back and forth for your pleasure. This is the perfect spot for total relaxation. Hope you can enjoy it as much as I have, fall 2016.

We booked in February and were paid in full in advance. I had spoken via email directly with the owner and received an email the morning of our week wishing us safe travel. We arrived and the owner's sister had let someone else in even though she knew my name and that we were expected. Saturday night in Maine at the height of summer tourist season with no place to stay is a terrible position to be put into. Homeaway offered no help when we called the customer service line and kept putting us on hold and not returning. No one cared and the last response from the owner was"Thank you for your business" to add insult to injury. The only reason I have any stars for this is because it was required.

We loved our week at the cottage. Close (<2 miles) to the lovely town of Camden but felt a million miles away from everything.
So much to do in Camden and the area. Also, great food of all types. If we come back to Maine, this is the only place we'll look to book.

Cozy bay cottage
If you love the sound of the tides, and the feel of the breezes and peace and quiet, you will love this cottage! It is adorable and has everything you need, including a comfortable deck and screened porch to enjoy the sights and sounds. Plus, there are views of the bay from every room in the home, including the shower. The owner was very nice and provided helpful directions and suggestions. Lots to do in and around Camden/Rockland/Rockport and only an hour's drive to take a ferry to Monhegan Island or see the puffins (at the right time of the year). We also loved Pig & Poet, a nearby restaurant. We will definitely return!

My husband and I stayed in this cabin for 8 marvelous nights. The pictures don't do it justice…you are literally right above the water at high tide, and there is a path to the water's edge. Watching the birds, chipmunks, and red squirrels scamper among the fall foliage was a treat. The cottage was awesome; I felt I was getting a true "Maine camp" experience, and it was very, very CLEAN. It also looked loved, and taken care of….interesting things abounded in the cabin, and you had all the creature comforts of home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. The shower was huge, with 2 shower heads, very hot water, AND, a porthole that gives you a view of Penobscot Bay as you shower! The best thing I can say is that it was just so "comfortable" that it was hard to leave to take day trips.

We loved our time at your cottage. And we look forward to staying there again. Very convenient to Camden and points up and down the coast. But also very secluded. I don't know how many times I missed the turn at night. The views were amazing and the location very peaceful. At night we would have a fire on the beach and watch the super blood full moon raise out of the east. One day it rained about 5" but we just laid around listening to the rain on the roof and watch the waves crash into the rocks. The cottage is perfect for a couple but as other reviews have noted it may not be the best for more people. We are already planning our next trip when we come up for your sons college graduation. Thanks again for letting us use your cottage Evelyn.

After driving down a long wooded lane, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of Highway 1 just north of Camden, and arrive at this enchanted ocean-front cottage. The setting is simply stunning. Step through the front door and - I kid you not - it's like entering a magical, parallel universe. My wife and I stayed at this property for a delightful week, and right up to the last morning kept noticing little touches of whimsy added to the decor that create a truly unique vacation environment. And talking of whimsy, we loved the port hole in the shower looking out to the breaking waves! The location is peaceful, and the view from the deck includes working lobster boats, passing schooners, and during our stay, a breathtaking blue moon. We checked out several area lobster shacks during our stay, but found it worth the drive up the coast to Belfast for the quality and value offered by Young's Lobster Pound. You can sit out on the deck overlooking the sailboat-filled bay while enjoying your feast or, as we did, have the very helpful staff cook your chosen lobsters to go. Aah, succulent crustacean, chilled wine and a moonlit ocean hideaway with the one you love. Life doesn't get much better than that.

A lovely rustic cottage just feet from the ocean and a wonderful place to unwind. The cottage has unfinished interior walls which really are charming, is well appointed in terms of furniture and the kitchen is really well equipped. The owner has really taken time to focus on her visitors in a number of small but meaningful ways. We loved sitting on the deck reading and watching the lobster boats work their traps near shore and the sailboats on the horizon. Because of the islands in the distance the ocean was calm although the tide was substantial, leaving a nice tide pool twice a day. It is easy to get into Camden only 10 minutes away and we explored many neat places on day trips. It was a lovely getaway for us two retired folks. We hope to come back sometime.
