The location was excellent. The food was terrific both breakfast and dinner are to a very high standard. Rooms and bathrooms facility are excellent the bathroom was for two people. My wife and I enjoyed the bathing facilities together. The staff excellent and could not hav been more helpful. Highly recommend this property and would go back at any time.

We could arrange for transport pick up from Takayama station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner was really good. Can choose between jap or american breakfast. Dinner was kaiseki style. Walking distance to tourist spots. We were provided with yukata and sleeping clothes during the stay.

The breakfast and dinner timing are scheduled in advance. Unlike other hotels where we can go down for meals as and when ready. Also, you pay a bath tax even if you do not use the bath (onsen) facilities.

Our best nights in Japan were in this Ryokan! We enjoyed everything so much, especially the kindness of the staff!

The staff is genuinely superb. They always acknowledge you and go out of the way to make your day perfect.

This is the second time we stayed in the same room. The room was remodeled and instead of two showers, there was only one.

Great location in the town. Exceptionally friendly and hospitable service, with nice personal touches.

The staff is the main highlight at this hotel. They gave us a wonderful welcome, took care of our needs promptly, explained the facilities in detail, and accommodated our food requests without hesitation.

We did not like the property. Pictures did not match the condition of the room, nor the amenities. Let’s start with the room: we stayed at a Japanese luxury room. The price was approx.$600 for one night. There was a strong smell in the room of food and mold. It was so strong it woke me up in the middle of the night. We also heard a strong air ventilation, so we looked for the switch to control it, there was none. We called the staff and learnt that it is forced air shared and controlled from downstairs, at this point we asked them to turned it off completely. Thankfully, the weather was mild and we were not affected by this decision. The view wasn’t that beautiful due to the window stains and marks that prevented the possibility for enjoyment. The tatami also has seen better days, we found marks in some areas. There was not updates in electronics. For example, not Bluetooth, not USB plug-in or even regular plug ins in the sleeping area! We had to use an extension cord provided by the hotel to plug in our cell phones and laptops. The TV is at least 15 years old if not older so forget about smart interaction with it. The safe is hidden in a hole in the room but the sliding doors were so dirty with marks we did not want to touch it. I have to disinfect all the handles and sliding doors to feel safe from Covid. Bathroom: The shower room was outdated and the elements used for decoration looked as it bought at the ¥100 store. We had a Japanese style bath which looked nice, but the mold built on the shower door, and the smell that concentrated and became stronger after turning the faucet on, did not make us want to spend more than the necessary time to clean our bodies. I also found a spiderweb in the shower (see pic) and the wall lamp had cracked rice paper. The towels were poorly folded and were thin as if reused for the past 10 years. The hand towels were paper from a dispenser as if you were in a rest area bathroom!

The property was situated so close to everything! The ryokan was beautifully decorated, the rooms and futon were super comfortable, the FOOD WAS AMAZING for the Kaiseki dinner and the Japanese breakfasts. Arisu San and her staff were amazing, attentive and just wonderful. We had a fabulous stay and look forward to going again very soon!

The fact that we didn’t have more time to stay another night or two. There was nothing that I didn’t like about the property.
