definitely the host - Oliver was the most welcoming host you could think of, he gave us great advice (even after we left), 2 complete itineraries with places worth seeing (1 for travels up north and one for travels down south), he let us stay some extra time in the Residence and always cared for our needs (brought us bottles of water, clean towels, etc), he always responded to our texts immediately. Also, the place is just next to a bus stop so transport is very easy, close to bars, restaurants, shops and the seafront, within the walking distance. The area is really nice and you can see beautiful places in all directions, not far from the place. We loved our stay.
Everything was really clean but just one small thing - the area around water tap could be cleaned a little more (probably with a different detergent, try vinegar for instance) to come to perfection. :-) Otherwise, there was nothing one could dislike.

The best is the host of the place, vintage climate and the location, next to the bus stops, the best restaurant in Malta just across the street - Food (La Buona Trattoria del Nonno).

The host, Oliver, went above and beyond to make sure the guests are comfortable and happy. There was a information booklet waiting for me on my bed, there was complimentary coffee, tea and water and Oliver offered every guest a free walking tour through the neighborhood, which was very helpful and insightful. He knows all about St. Pauls, the history, the best places to go and is more than happy to give you an itinerary for day trips in the area. I had the best day thanks to his suggestions and his local insider knowledge. Even after I checked out he offered help if I had any questions regarding my stay on Malta. I also got a little goodbye souvenir, which was a very nice touch and made my stay even more memorable. His house is decorated with a lot of attention to detail, very quirky and unique. Its in a central location, supermarket, restaurants, bus stop, all very close in walking distance.

Owner of the The 1930's Maltese Residence is very friendly and helpful. His hospitality and readiness to fulfil all wishes of his guests is extraordinary. Just after our arrival he proposed a short walk in the neighbourhood, informing us about the best places to eat, to do shopping and to visit. Additional blankets as well plates, mugs and cutlery were provided on our request, except for complimentary tea, coffee and water. Last night before our very early checking-out he left a nice gift for us. He was also told us about the history of his really impressive residence, full of several decades old items, like old radios or the genuine, still working pathephone or jukebox. Its location is quite, although close to a bus stop, a small supermarket, fruit/vegetable shop and two very good restaurants. The grocery supermarket open till late, even on Sundays, is achievable in walking distance. You can eat or just seat on a sunny terrace with a big table. Our room No 5 has the view toward a yard, so it is really quite. A nice surprise in our room, apparently in all rooms also: you do not need AC adapters to use your electrical equipment, if not UK-type. Wall sockets suit to both UK, Schuko and other types. Besides, there have USB sockets for charging your smartphones etc.
Everything was OK, perhaps the room would be a little bigger.

Mr. Oliver is very polite and willing to answer to everything we have asked about. We really do thank him!
We stayed at room no 2. It was completely uncomfortable, the bathroom the worst I have ever seen in my life, small, horrible, it really needs renovation. The water was once very hot and once very cold, it was impossible to take a shower. We paid ~80Euros per nigt and the real value is 30max.

The host was amazing and provided me of nice recommendations by whatsapp every day. If i had a question he replied within a few minutes. He gave me a new bottle of water every day and gave me a little present when i left. Best host i ever had while travelling! The place is very closeby beaches/ ferry to go to gozo. The rooms are big with airconditioning and has all you need !! The place itself is almost a museum and has many nice things to see. Again loved it!!!! Would def recommend!!!

Let me, let you in on a secret, because this is the best place and you don’t want to miss It! The 1930’s Maltese Residence is local, cultural and the most amazing experience all wrapped up into one! Didn’t you come to Malta to be drenched in its culture?
The 1930’s Maltese Residence is a charming and cozy townhouse from the 1930’s, so really you aren’t getting more authentic Maltese than this. The hotel is a short 12 minute walk from the beach and has incredibly strong WiFi ,traditional stone work, exposed wooden beams, an LCD TV, mini-fridge as well as tea and coffee.
I have to say that aside from this dreamy hotel giving me all the Maltese design goals, Oliver, the rental owner, is unequivocally the most amazing host I’ve ever met. He was helpful, thoughtful, attentive and even gave us a short walking tour of the area upon our arrival. He even sent us a digital copy of the local newspaper every day!
Not only does Oliver clearly pour his heart and soul into The 1930’s Maltese Residence, but he truly has a passion for hosting and making sure his guests are comfortable and enjoying their stay. He gave us incredible recommendations to restaurants, cafes, beaches and other amazing spots to visit in the area as well as in Malta and Gozo.
Oliver truly made our time in Malta spectacular and I am so grateful to have chosen his hotel by chance! Thank you Oliver for all you do!

Oliver (the owner) was so helpful - top-notch hospitality! He showed us around and gave us some tips when we first arrived, and we had some nice chats with him over our short stay. You can tell he puts a lot of care into the building and all the antiques in it. Our room itself was clean and comfortable, too. The building itself is in a quiet area for a good night's sleep, but there's also a bus stop just a few minutes' walk away, and it's only a 15 or so minute walk into the heart of Bugibba. Would definitely stay again if we ever find ourselves in the area!
For us, it wasn't a problem - but this is an older building, so there isn't a lift, only stairs. If you have mobility issues, you may want to keep this in mind.

The bed was king size and very comfortable. The location was great to access the bus routes to where ever you need to go. The host is great with his communication and helpful tips for your stay in the town.
There were several powerpoints not working and the bathroom basin leaked slightly underneath. Neither of these things caused any issues with our stay.

Oliver is an amazing man, who does everything he can and more to make your stay in Malta exceptional. He genuinely cares about you and your experience. Don't think twice to book this property, you can't go wrong. Authentic Maltese building and rooms. Plus the hallway interior is like a museum, with old and interesting collections. Comfy beds and good ventilation system. Everything was clean and tidy. Location is great, it is central, between islands of Gozo/Comino and capital city Valletta. You can go everywhere easily by public transport, bus stop is a stone's throw away.

What makes this accomodation special is Oliver, the host. He is very helpful, he advised me on which trustworthy rent-a-car to use, for instance. Oliver does everything to make your stay a great experience. He is always available with recommedations and even surpised me with a gift at the end of my stay. Thank you very much, Oliver and all the best to you!

This property was perfect for our needs. A good base for exploring Malta. The room rates were extremely reasonable and the property was on a quiet residential street which was close to an excellent restaurant and the sea. There is a nice walk along the sea front to the busier part of town if you are looking for more bars and restaurants.
Oliver is a wonderful host and happy to share his knowledge of Malta. He left us to our own devices but was also extremely fast to reply to any questions during our stay via WhatsApp or in person.
If you want to lounge around a hotel all day this may not be the place for you but if you want to stay in an old Maltese house with a host who is generous with his knowledge this is great.
Parking can be tricky but there seems to be an excellent network of buses with a variety of passes available.

Great experience in this residence. We reserved 20 minutes before our arrival because we had a problem with the previous accomodation. The owner is friendly and he sent me everyday the Malta's newspaper and has been helpful to suggest us restaurants and a place where we could rent a boat. I would come back for sure!
The mattress was a bit too soft but obviously this depends on the habits and cannot be a real complaint.
