This is one of the cleanest, well furnished cabins that we have ever rented. We rent a cabin ever year and this one pleased everyone in our group. Plenty of sitting areas, games, TV's, comfortable beds and wonderful windows with great views.
The only complaint I had was a smell when you first walk into the cabin. It smelled like cat urine but could have been from the rug on the floor in that room.

This cabin is absolutely beautiful. The picture does this cabin no justice, you have to see it in person. The river next to the house gives it a calm feeling. The sound of the river flowing is so relaxing. We loved that we were roughly 20 mins from Cherokee and Waynesville. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Also, the owners were very responsive to our messages. Plus, there were instructions on how to use the appliances as well aa the hot tub.

We had a great time at this property. Conveniently close to downtown Maggie Valley. Kitchen was well stocked. Internet was a little slow due to being in the mountains but still usable. Cable worked fine. Good communication from property owners. Amazing views! . If you’re planning to use the bunk bed room, know that it is connected to the second King bedroom and does not have a door/it opens into a hallway adjacent to the kitchen. Also, you have to take the trash to the City Dump in Lake Junaluska. If you’re traveling East it’s on your way but if you’re going home to the west factor in extra travel time.

We had a nice stay at the lodge. The trees and weather were beautiful. We were surprised and a bit disappointed to find there was no hot tub at the lodge even though it was listed and the owner has not mentioned it had been removed. That would have been a nice feature after long days hiking and with the cooler weather.

Lots of positives about this property, but several negatives, too
Positives:
Inside furniture and particularly furnishings were excellent, high quality. Excellent linens. Beautiful location with mountain views and a small stream running at the edge of property. Excellent kitchen with every electric appliance known to man. Lots of dishes, serving utensils, pots and pans. All excellent quality. Lots of spices, condiments, flour and sugar, salt and pepper.
Negatives:
Internet terrible. Cannot watch anything without downloading it first. Cannot watch a video on YouTube, constant buffering. Even after shutting everything off except 1 television, still couldn't watch live, just be recorded over several hours to watch.
Outside furniture and furnishings filthy. Deck covered in leaves. Yes it is fall, but it is obvious from the amount of leaves that the deck has not been cleaned in weeks. It was full of leaves when we checked in.
Some of the pots and pans were dirty when we checked in, also, several too worn to use.
Cobwebs and dirt in several areas inside.
Has 3 fireplaces, could only get one to work.
Instructions to clean lint in dryer, was full when we arrived
Hair in bathroom sink
Spider webs
Broken pieces of glass in kitchen sink when we arrived
Vrbo as well as owner communication say hot tub, couldn't find one. Found seps and filters from hot tub, but no hot tub.
Lots of rules to follow and cleaning to do even though they charge you a $200

Pro's: Had amazing mountain and creek views - wow! Large in door and outdoor space. Cabin decor was nicely done. Would easily fit 3 couples and 2 older children in bunkbeds (4th room is small and a tandem to other bedroom). Professional kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need to cook. Outdoor grill was awesome. The hosts left very clear directions and we had no issues and enjoyed our stay. Very well maintained cabin. Highlight....we saw an elk crossing the road near the cabin one morning.
Con's: The driveway is steeper than we expected and there is not a way to turn around the car at the top. We had a person outside directing the driver so we had no issues. As indicated in the description - wi-fi is 'sporadic' so you need to plan ahead. The hosts did have games and video's (-:

We throughly enjoyed our stay in Bear Camp Lodge. The lodge is beautiful and so private. The view was beautiful and the sound of the creek flowing was so relaxing. Wish we could have stayed longer but certainly recommend this lodge if you want privacy, beautiful view and just want to relax. Cherokee is just down the road and Waynesvill is a short distance away. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lodge!!!

This is an absolutely beautiful property. The owners have put so much thought into what is needed for your stay. They have decorated the lodge with gorgeous pieces. I would suggest that it's probably not as well suited for younger children as it is for the 8 and above age range. We had a 2, 5 and 6 yr old and we were constantly worried that someone would fall into one of the 2 gorgeous fireplaces. However, if your kids aren't rambunctious boys, then go for it! The house is beautiful and spacious. The only downside is cell reception and internet.

The property with sounds of the creek is so relaxing. We had a wonderful time!

What a great family holiday vacation. The views were wonderful and had plenty of room to spread out. The house was just like it shows.

We love everything about this rental! Gorgeous inside and out. Convenient location and gorgeous scenery!
5.0
This house has everything you would ever want—gorgeous setting by a waterfall and mountain stream, beautiful views, gourmet kitchen fully stocked with everything you would need, cozy, comfy beds and so much more. We loved sitting on the screened in porch. We even saw an elk walk by one evening! We highly recommend this place for your next mountain getaway.
5.0
We chose this location because it would accommodate 2 sets of grandparents and our family of 3 - and this location had lots of space. But honestly we spent 75% of our time on the screened porch enjoying the amazing weather (even the day of rain was a joy). Saw elk, enjoyed curvy drives and the Mountain Views from just about every direction you look. Driveway takes a little getting use to getting out but we knew that ahead of time (grateful for back up mirrors). As other reviews have said - internet and cell service isn’t great or fast - but we were looking to disconnect a bit - so that didn’t create too much of an issue. Only other issue we faced - beds are tall (mobility issues with grandparents) but there are stools so it was an easy fix. Owner was very responsive to questions.

Family Friendly Cabin
Cabin was lovely and very well appointed. Everything our family needed during the stay, was available. Very impressed with the location and the streaming creek was simply perfect for our summer stay! Our children played almost everyday in it! Definitely would stay again!

Beautiful home
This house is the most beautiful vrbo I've ever seen, and the setting was picturesque as well. It seems like this was someone's permanent home equipped with everything they would ever need and turned into a rental. I have little children too and it was pretty kid safe. The railings outside were safe, no stairs inside the house (outside there are but that's not a problem). The creek was amazing and location fantastic. The only problems we had was the internet not working anywhere in the home except at the kitchen. All the Google pods were not working. We told her and at first she said it always works fine when she is there.. then we sent her an email with attachments showing her proof and she said she wouldn't be able to fix it until she was there next. There is no way we would be able to work from there. Minor cleaning issues too but nothing that would prevent us from renting again. The rental paperwork said checkout needed to be promptly at 10am for hot tub cleaner to come and he was there at or before 8am. Again, not a biggie. Overall, amazing property.

The Creek Hums
We had a great 18 days at this property. The house is pretty much as described. In house layout, Bunk room is adjacent to both king guest room and laundry room with no door to close between bunk room and main part of house. Decorations and furniture are as depicted.
Outdoors is spectacular! Creek is amazing and accessible for younger more athletic people than the 2 grandparents, but watching kids and young adults in the creek was such fun. Screen porch is an added dividend! We had dinners and happy hour there.
Internet is weak, slow, and not dependable, but if you don’t need it for work, just download your streaming movies, podcasts, and music before you go. Not dependable for zoom. Direct tv works in all locations.
House is large with lots of room and location is great! We had problems with A/C but owner took care of it as quickly as possible. Kitchen is large and VERY WELL STOCKED with everything you need to cook….which we did 15 out of 18 nights we were there!
It’s a great place to stay!

Beautiful home and view
This was an absolutely amazing place to stay. The views were amazing and the home is exactly like the pictures. Having a smooth paved road to drive up is a huge plus having stayed in other cabins with steep, gravel roads. The sounds from the creek running in the backyard were great. I would absolutely recommend this home to anyone staying in the area!

Great House for Two Families
We stayed here to go skiing in Maggie Valley and spend a day in Asheville—it was a great location! We’ll stocked kitchen and great common spaces for hanging out. The video game table was a hit with the teens!

Beautiful mountain dream!
I cannot give this listing enough praise!! The location and the property are spectacular! My family had a beautiful vacation, only downside is we wanted more time!! Will definitely stay here again! Host and housekeeper were quick to respond. However many days you plan on visiting you'll need a few extra just to hang out at the lodge!

Smoky mountain Christmas
My family and I just got back from a trip to Maggie Valley for Christmas. The cabin was very spacious and the view was picturesque. The kitchen had all of the amenities we needed. It was fully decorated for Christmas as well. Highly recommend this cabin. The owners were responsive and very friendly.

My dream kitchen! Perfect family getaway
We drove up from Florida to ski and have the kids see snow. This house was magical! Perfect stay for kids. Plenty to do in Maggie valley. 4 nights would be perfect with 1 ski day, 1 snow tubing day, a visit to Cherokee and/or biltmore, and creek side brewery or a winery, we loved it!

Pure Relaxation
Our family had a wonderful week at our cabin. The cabin was beautiful and very relaxing. We will be back one day.

Beautiful lodge experience
Elk Creek Lodge is just a stunning place to stay, if you are visiting the North Carolina side of the Smoky Mountains. The design of this lodge is different than most of the "cookie cutter" kind of log homes you find throughout the region.
It is very spacious, has all the amenities that anyone could possibly need with magnificent views of the mountains and the beautiful mountain stream that it sits next to (we had not been there two hours and saw a giant bull elk down in front of the lodge grazing - saw another bull, female and young elk the next morning in the same spot!)
The kitchen is beautiful, well appointed and stocked with anything you may need to prepare a meal.
But one of the things that makes Elk Creek Lodge stand out are the unique furnishings and the wild life themed artwork that run throughout the house. It seemed that throughout our stay, we kept noticing some piece of art, a carved frame or other unique and eye catching decoration. Whoever is responsible for decorating this home did a beautiful job. In addition, Anita was a pleasure to work with through the entire process.
This is a tremendous place to spend time in the mountains. We not only would stay here again, but hope to in the not too distant future. We highly recommend it!

Amazing place.
Great views, high end, great amenities, amazing creek, easy access, perfect!

Great house!
We absolutely loved this house! Tons of space and is spread out so that you can have time to yourself if you want, indoors and outdoors. The home needs a deep clean, some small maintenance checks (few light bulbs were out) and the gas grill was in-operable. However, Anita was extremely responsive and helpful. The house is absolutely gorgeous and we would love to return again. The location is perfect and so scenic!

Amazing house and location!
Beautiful and plentiful house proximal to Maggie Valley and very close to amazing views and sunsets off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anita and Tom were wonderful hosts. So many house amenities making our stay very comfortable and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay!!

Perfect in every way!
Such a fantastic experience! The house was immaculate and very well maintained! So much room, all the separate spaces make you feel like you are at a resort! The views from the hot tub are fantastic and sleeping with the windows open, listening to the stream is so peaceful! Will definitely come here again!

Beautiful location
This property is very pretty inside and out. Lots of room for family.
The waterfall outside is so peaceful and relaxing.
We enjoyed our time here.
There are a few things that need to be repaired inside/outside which I addressed with owner.
Overall a nice vacation property

Beautiful Home
The owners of the property were so nice to deal with. The house and location was amazing!!!
2.5
This was our first mountain trip to Maggie Valley and we had an absolutely amazing time at this luxury cabin. The owner thoughtfully had all details laid out for us and made it easy to feel at home in this majestic place. The cabin was close enough to multiple adventurous places but had many options for local activities on days that we did not want to travel far. We visited Soco falls, saw elk in the front yard and went salamander hunting along the creek next to the home. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

This was without a doubt one of the NICEST homes we have ever rented and we are PICKY! The owners are very responsive, the weather great and again the house made the trip.

Gorgeous property
The house is clean, comfortable and well appointed. Kitchen is perfect for those who love to cook and there is plenty of seating and the hot tub was great at the end of the day of hiking. Loved our stay! Thank you Anita!

Pleasant experience renting this beautiful house!

Gorgeous property
The location and view are spectacular along a gorgeous stream with unobstructed views of the mountains. The cabin was lovely with every comfort you could want, kitchen was very well equipped, everything was fresh, neat and clean. The owners have given careful attention to details. The screened porch, multiple decks and hot tub made for beautiful mornings, meals and evenings. You can hear the rush of the creek throughout the house. As is described in the listing, be aware that the driveway is very steep and narrow-the cabin is high in the hillside and provides you with amazing views. Also keep in mind that Maggie Valley does not have a grocery store so plan accordingly. Being up so far in the mountains means that internet service is slow, not a problem for us but you will have to go to the Starbucks in Waynesville to take a zoom meeting. We would definitely stay here again, thanks for a memorable week!

We enjoyed our stay so much my seven year old grandson asked if we could live there forever. The lodge was beautifully decorated and spacious. The views were spectacular! I highly recommend this property.

Great house for family trip

Good Overall
Overall good, not great, experience. When we arrived, there was food left in the fridge from previous occupants; laundry was in the dryer; there was no coffee in the house as the listing stated; and the coffee maker did not work. The house was not as clean as it should have been - one of the bathrooms looked like it had not even been cleaned and bath mats were wet. Other than those things, it was acceptable.

First class property
I have stayed in this type of rental for family reunions and overseas vacations numerous times. Many of them were nice but did not check all the boxes ( well, other than the one in Kyoto) This property was more than I expected. What I appreciated more than anything was the thoughtfulness that went into every inch of the property. All of the adults enjoy cooking and the kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil, pots, and most spices. The rental I had in CA did not even have a decent frying pan and I had to buy one. Many rentals have mismatched and whatever-was-cheapest cooking utensils but this place had beautiful and high-quality items,. Also, the interior decoration was very well done and I really enjoyed them. Also, the host was very responsive and thoughtful. Anyway. A long story short, this is a great property and the pride of ownership and hospitality was evident in every inch of the property. And one last thing. Yes, the cell signal is limited here. I got 4G 1 bar for both Verison and At&T. And the WIFI is through satellite and does not have broad bandwidth. Enough for checking emails and nonhigh res streaming. Usually, this would not matter whatsoever and I would have loved seeing children get off the screen for a change. But unfortunately, my brother and I had to do work. But my brother brought a cell signal enhancer that is linked to WIFI. To my surprise, I was able to do my CAD work and he was able to do his remote court video. So, if you are one of those unfortunate people who can't get away from work even on vacation, you should look into it. Also, I don't know what is in those heavy door glasses but opening and closing glass doors make a big difference in reception.
