Zimmer sind sauber und groß, Freundlichkeit und Sauna bzw Hallenbadbereich ebenfalls. Viel für Kinder wie zb Tischkicker und Billard. Sehr kinderfreundlich.

Für diese Preise haben wir in anderen Hotels deutlich besseres essen gehabt. Das fand ich leider enttäuschend. Aber das ist natürlich immer eine 'Geschmack Sache'. Für uns ist das leider enttäuschend.

Spacious hotel with large rooms and nice pool and sauna area

Everything at this hotel was very highly priced but the facilities and service were not at a level to justify this. We were charged €45 for 2 drinks (double whisky & ginger ale and double jack daniels and coke), this was at least double the price we paid elsewhere in Germany and significantly more than the price anywhere else in our travels through several countries. There was no pricing at the bar (which was also very basic with no permanent bartender) so this bill was a surprise when we arrived at our breakfast table next morning. When we questioned ownership about it we were told that this was a reasonable price and that they were upset that we should complain about it!!!! Needless to say, they were not willing to rectify the situation.

We had a very nice stay, the staff has been very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are enourmous, beds are comfy and overall it is very clean. We did not test the swiming pool (did nor have time) although it looked very nice. Food was very good, large selection at breakfast (including omlette and freshly made waffles). Dinner was also very good albeit a bit pricey.

The hotel is quite old, despite beeing very clean and well maintained. But this coould be said for the entire area.

The environment is magical. Hiking in the Schwarzwald is super. That’s what we came for. The owner was friendly. She showed us the mini train track in the cellars, quite impressive. When I had a lumbago problem, the owner went to her house to get me painkillers from her private stock. Room was spacious. Some things at breakfast were good. Freshly made waffles and personalised eggs. Freshly sliced ham. Spacious sauna.

The price was high compared to other hotels in the region with similar facilities. That’s the main reason for relatively low review rate. The hotel was a bit boring. Average age of guests is high. After 21:30 the bar is closed. Never seen a member of staff behind the bar. The reception desk is quite close and when in the bar, you can reach them. But a bar man or woman gives a bar a soul, and the efficiency of cutting the bar staff has killed this soul. The hotel doors close after 21:30. When we arrived, we were late. At 22:00, still on the highway, we received a notification from Booking.com that we should have checked in before 18:00 and could have lost the booking. After calling, this was confirmed but the owner wasn’t happy and let us know that we should hurry up. When we arrived, we heard that we were lucky that there was a Champion’s League final, giving the owner and her husband a reason for waiting for us. Happy that the Germans won. We even received a smile. I would prefer that if such a rule exists, we receive a notification a few days before, so we can plan better. We were with 3. My 2 sons and me. There is a heating on which towels can be hung. Now we had assigned areas on the heating where each of us could hang his towels. During breakfast, the rooms were made and the bathroom cleaned. We usually found the towels in different places, so we were not sure which towels belonged to whom anymore. And, worse, sometimes towels that we left on the ground, were hung back on the heating. Breakfast was ok but not super. Limited fruit. No porridge but Bircher muesli (which was great by the way). No Nutella. No warm sausage and limited vegetables (only cucumber and tomato). Limited choice of breakfast in general. Only one member of staff serving the entire hotel, taking care of fresh waffles, eggs, ham, distributing bread and serving coffee and tea.
