not enough lighting and nor back up for load-shedding

Booked two rooms for a one night stay before an early morning departure from Port Elizabeth airport. Rooms and bathrooms are well appointed and very spacious and beds comfortable. Appreciate that they provided secure private parking within the compound next to our rooms. Recommended for a short stay/stopover in PE.

The pool didn't look very appealing - we opted to head to the beach rather than jump in!

the photo and the room was not the same any ipay the price for normal room and that do nothing about it

I was tired an emotional checking in as just said goodbye to good friends. Lady at reception gave me a hug and a coffee while I waited for my room. Didn't get the room I booked but allowed in 2 hrs early so that's a fair swap. Massive comfortable bed. Super soft pillows. All very clean. Hotel looks like nothing special from the outside but is lovely once inside the walls. Nice garden. Quiet. Rooms not overlooked. Pool is clean but cold, I only put my feet in.

Took me a while to figure out the lighting. That was a bit random. Wired by students??! Otherwise good. There's a kettle and microwave. Cups/saucers but no plates or cutlery. Staff are so nice I'm sure they'd let you borrow some.

Location was good. The idea of the design was good. Shower and towels were clean. Lady at reception was very friendly.

Walked into the dark , marching us on. Tripping and falling around. There is no explanation of finicaty shower mixer. Our friend had a cold shower because of it. Lights and other parts were severely dusty. Bitten by bed bugs. Looked a bit off with cleanliness in eating area. Not a bad price, but the idea of sleeping in rooms where the pictures in the site seem taken a long time ago does not feel honnest or appealing.

The staff were ultra friendly and helpful. The style of the lodge is quaint, trying to achieve a real african adventure feel with the decor in the rooms and the 'jungle' feel to the garden and pathways

The facilities are really poor, no restaurant although you can have breakfast but not a full english. There is a bar of sorts, but more a room with a fridge and bar counter to be honest. Everything closes at 9pm! All in all, we were a little disappointed and this lodge is probably suitable if you are just looking for somewhere to get your head down for the night and not expecting to spend a lot of time there. In comparison to a couple of other lodges of similar price that we stayed at on our garden route tour, this lodge falls a bit short

The ambience, the amazing staff, the setting of the environment. Did I mention amazing staff? 10/10

felt like it’s needs an uplift and maintenance in areas. the load shedding is frustrating but not their fault.

The location is well located and has actual potential to do so much more. Breakfast offer was small but the staff was very friendly and quality of the food was ok. Towels & bed were clean.

We didn‘t feel comfortable there. Rooms are very (!) dark, it feels like you are going to a cave - although we got an upgrade. They call it executive suite which is very misleading. They have a beauitful garden with trees but a.) the birds made the plants below a mess - you find poo everywhere + b.) the woods makes the whole are extremely dark. It also would need to be renovated.

its a special place

The whole lodge has been left to ruin, im not sure if it was COVID or just mismanagement, but everything is in need of repair, yes they are near the ocean, so things corrode, but you can see its just left and not maintained, our bed was on a concrete slab that is missing chunks of concrete, their were spider webs in just about every corner of the room, and under the day beds, the shower had black mould. the towels did not smell fresh. and the cupboard door stuck, also the room door stuck. We understand that their is loadshedding, but we were not told the schedule on arrival or that they did not have a generator......also when we called reception we struggled to get someone and the staff did not look neat and were not in uniform.......

The breakfast was good, we enjoyed it.

The room was fine, the pictures are definitely not the same as what you going to get but we were already there so we had to stay.
