Rod is a very lovely bloke, he also has a gorgeous big and friendly dog. Stunning and convenient location close to necessities and a short trip away from the National Park. Good on-site parking. The inside is furnished beautifully and incredibly quiet at night, we had a peaceful sleep. You will get great value for money staying here. We enjoyed our night at Rustic Refuge and will definitely recommend it to friends and family wanting a nice stay at the Dandenongs on a budget.

My only complaints are the beds, we felt our backs were a little sore upon waking. Also a lack of cereal, but nothing that a trip to IGA couldn't fix!

The property itself is quite lovely. Definitely rustic and could be very charming. It’s very conveniently located. Other guests were very pleasant and we had some great conversations with fellow travellers. I thought breakfast was very generous; bacon was so fresh and yummy.

The property is in need of some repair and a good spring clean. Cooking facilities didn't appeal to me. However, overall it was a decent and budget conscious place to stay.

Rod was so friendly and helpful and then just left us to it. His beautiful big friendly dog was gorgeous, the views were breathtaking and the bed was extremely comfortable. Had everything we needed and it was so relaxing, lovely positive vibes at this place and we left feeling so happy and rejuvenated. We can't wait to go back!

There honestly wasn't anything about this place that we didn't like!

Bedroom was comfortable and had microwave, fridge and tea making facilities.

Bathroom could have been cleaned up a bit more during the stay. Hair was clearly seen on the floor. It was very clean when I arrived, however some cleaning maintenance during the stay would have been appreciated.

Amazing location, the host was very helpful. bed very comfy. breakfast left in the room/fridge which was good.

The other guests continually slaming doors late at night, loud male voice with no effort to be quiet...and one of the guests snoring...next level loud. All out of the control of the host.

The facilities were excellent. The room was well arranged. Rod was very helpful. Rod helped us with the tour of Dandenong Ranges as we didn't have our car. Rod also dropped us back at the train station. Excellent stay.

I didn’t check out any pictures online before buying it for the proximity to the event I was down there for. It was an absolutely beautiful place which I think is highly underrated. I was the only guest though so that may have coloured my opinion

Not from personal experience, but having up to 4 other guest rooms could be a bit annoying with shared facilities. I was the only guest due to Covid19 so I had a blast
