On the beach

The hotel should make it clear that it can be difficult to find an open restaurant. It was golden week and it was still difficult to get dinner. The one sushi restaurant was booked by noon that day and the hotel restaurant was also booked by noon. We ended up eating 7-11. I would not have minded so much if we could have prepared. Luckily one of the days we got late lunch in Katsuura.

Gentleman at reception who checked me in was very kind and nothing was too much trouble. From showing me how to adjust the temperature to advising me on dinner and getting a table. He spoke English and this was very helpful. The waiting staff were lovely and professional .Large room comfortable bed, lovely location on the beach. Will stay again!

Very wobbly bath which creaked and wobbled when stepping in so felt it safer to avoid and shower.

You need to book dinner in advance. Otherwise, you’ll have to eat elsewhere even if you’re a staying guest.

Breakfast wasn’t good and not much selection, also no hand towels in the room.

Our standard double room had a carpet floor, it was humid and very smelly, probably mold. The AC and air purifier didn’t fix that. Our friends in the next twin room had more space and a wooden floor, no smell, bigger balcony, but we paid the exact same price. The shower curtain broke as soon as I entered the bathtub. This room shouldn’t be used. They ask for 200¥ per new towel, we found it a bit greedy since they offer only one towel per person in the bed room. The hotel description didn’t mention the fact that tattoos aren’t allowed in the sauna/public bath and the pool, and several people in our group had them. If we knew, we wouldn’t have stayed there.

Location right on the beach was great, and convenient free parking across the street.

Rooms were old and not in good shape -- our first room had a broken sliding door to the terrace and towels stuck along its bottom edge, and a gap in its frame that let in wind. We asked to move and got a better room but still not worth the price.

Easy access to the beach. Superb views of the ocean from the balcony. Quiet and clean room. The spa was wonderful. Perfect quick getaway from the city. Very helpful hotel staff. Room for a solo traveler was huge (Japanese standards).

I was very excited about using the swimming pool and the jacuzzi. Impressive photos on the website, after all. Unfortunately, both were not in operation during my stay.
