It is so cosy and comfortable and beautifully decorated. We arrived in from the rain and wind and felt at home straight away, big open fire, comfy chairs and the family room was perfect for us. The outdoor area is great to explore but we stayed by the fire and played some of the board games supplied. A five minute drive to Dunfanaghy where we went to the Rusty Pizza and Patsy Dans for food and drinks

Nice lounge /common room for relaxing in.. It was cosy as there was an open fire and comfortable seats.
No greeting / welcome, just a murmur about the computer not working right when I said I was checking in. When I got to my bedroom (room 2) it was very cold, there was a strong draught & leak from the bathroom window & with the torrential rain that evening there was a pool of water on the window sill. When I notified the girl on reception she said “oh yea I though there was a towel there to soak it up” she told me she would get maintenance to check it out when I was away for dinner. When I returned my door was unlocked so my belongings were left totally unsecured. Thankfully nothing was missing. There were towels left to mop up the leak. It was still quite cold even though I was told the heat would be on intermittently so I used both additional heaters that had been left in the hallway. Nobody asked at checkout how the stay was, disappointing for the price paid.

Very cosy inside, lovely area to sit by the fire. Great gardens with some fire pits and seating areas. Very quiet during our stay. Relaxed atmosphere. Information sent ahead of time so I had a good idea of what to expect.
It was great, just disappointed we were there on a night the fish van wasn’t open!

After first 3 seconds I knew that I will recharge and recover from busy, noisy weeks I had before coming here. Beautiful views, quietness lovely food and kind familiar atmosphere makes that you want to come back. Enjoy all the spots around in the garden, landscape is amazing you can watch full panorama sunsets as well as sunrises. If you are a bird watcher there is plenty to watch and listen to.If you are not install Merlin bird ID it’s fun to discover which birds you hear. It’s a beautiful place with respect for people and nature.

loved it! We stayed in one of the family rooms (number 11), it was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was not included in our room price, however for €12 per person you could buy it extra (good choice of breads, yogurt, fruit and boiled eggs available). We ate at the fish and chip van every night which was incredible! the fish tacos were to die for. Staff were great and gave good recommendations on where to go and what to do.
not much! short drive from Dunfanaghy and taxis cost €10 each way.

Breakfast was fairly basic but ok. Only issue was with having to pre-book breakfast slots - and those were very strict!

the site, the view and space to go around
the room was a bit small

I can't comment on cleanliness etc because I never got to see my room.
I received a confirmation of my reservation from booking .com, followed a question about my arrival time, which I responded to.
I then spent the following day hiking in an in area without a phone signal. I arrived to the lodge at the agreed-upon time, but the place was deserted. Not a soul. There was a sign pasted on the window with a phone number to call if nobody is present (that number was different from the one on booking.com). I called both numbers, but there was no answer in either one. We waited for a while, and when it became clear nobody is going to show up I called booking.com support (in the US). I waited on the phone for about 20 minutes while they tried to contact the proprietors, but they also failed.
It was rather stressful because it was difficult to find another room with two twin beds so late in the game. We ended up driving 30 km away to the closest such room we could find without doubling the cost.
I later found that the lodge has sent me an email the previous day (while I was hiking) with a link to a web page which would have given me some information. But as I was not able to check my email on that day, that was completely useless. I do not know what the information in that link was, or whether that would have enabled me to enter a room, because by the time I was able to read the email, this reservation was cancelled.
To the proprietors: if you rent out a place and you are not going to be present, the least you can do is be available to answer the phone at the agreed-upon check-in time. Sending an email the day before and then disappearing is not acceptable. Your negligence caused me significant harm: wasting an hour waiting for you, followed by spending time with booking.com support (and paying dearly for calling the US while traveling abroad), wasting another hour finding an alternative place for the night, then driving 30 km and ending far from where I was planing to to travel the following day.

We visited for 2 nights in August. Liked the grounds and the sitting room. The one meal outdoors from the food truck was good
This was presented as having a b&b in addition to hostel and camping but the b&b is more like an upgrade on the hostel experience. Our room was basic with little room between the beds. There was a sign asking us to strip the beds and tie up our rubbish. No glasses were provided in the rooms. There was a comfort station by the lobby with water, teas and coffee facilities but this closed at 8 pm. The wine bar in the Lodge remained closed since covid and no sign of reopening. It rained on our second night there so the food truck didn't open. We were 3k from Dunfanaghy. Hugely overpriced for a very basic experience.

The staff at check in was great. Loads of ideas about places to eat and find traditional live music in town. The property has a unique vibe with glamping and a hostel on site, too.
The room was smaller than expected.

A really fantastic place with an eclectic mix of accommodation from self catering to hotel rooms to glamping and camping!
Superb food (fish & chips for me) on site.
The owner was really friendly and mingled with guests at the outside eatery making sure everyone was happy.
The double room I booked was adequate but nothing special.
Breakfast was cancelled a couple of days before but I was refunded 15 euro immediately. I could also have had a voucher for Batch cafe nearby. I did end up going there and that was exceptional.
Nothing to really dislike. Perhaps a touch on the expensive side for the quality of room and not the best shower but no major complaints. Would definitely stay again but perhaps try a different room.

really nice sittingroom and breakfastroom
the room itself was basic, would have been perfectly o.k. for 50€ without breakfast, but 80€ is a lot. BUT it was the best offer in the place

People in town and staff were friendly although the bikes didnt work and the room change meant a small bed and people woke me up at 3am.
I paid more here than anywhere i else i have stayed and got a bed for a child. The place is far from town which was not clear when i booked it.

Nice setting. Friendly. Dinner available on site. Lovely breakfast and smell of peat fire. Nice seats for sitting outdoors to watch the sun setting and lots of places to explore around the site.
No accessible socket to charge mobile phone. There was one for a lamp on top of a wardrobe but as it was near the ceiling I couldn’t reach it.
We all need our phones in this day and age!

We ate at the fish & chip shack and the wait for food and drinks was almost an hour. The staff were very friendly however so this helped.
