We booked property for 17 people , website said sleeps 18, which was wrong. Only 16 people were able to sleep out of which 2 bunk bed were for kids. We had not so good experience staying as we stayed for 2 nights and had trouble sleeping for few of us due to lack of beds....before the start of vacation we had emailed owner about sleeping bed requirement but owner mentioned us about shortage. Also couple of bath room drainage need some cleaning as water was not draining out while taking shower. We felt property location was good, but experience was average. Thank you

We loved the double refrigerators and dishwashers which were helpful in preparing the Thanksgiving meal. The dining room table accommodated all 16 of us. The living room was spacious and the sitting areas were comfortable and laid out in two groupings. It was nice to have games, puzzles and books to use while we were there. The bedrooms gave us options for sleeping arrangements for all of us. The beds were comfortable. There were bathrooms on all three levels. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table. And best of all was the short walk to the beach. We would recommend more trash bags, paper towels, kleenex in the bathrooms and dish towels. We had a wonderful time and we would go back again.

We had a wonderful time at this property. It's a quick walk to the beach and the beach wasn't too crowded. The house has lots of room for our crew to stretch out. Pool and hot tub were fun too! The kitchen is a little limited in terms of supplies (only had salt and pepper) so make sure to bring all your pantry items if you plan to cook.

Alex, the host, was easily reached and quick to rectify any issues. The house was well appointed and spacious. The beach was a very short walk away and pristine! We would highly recommend this rental.

Stayed with 11 adults. Everyone had plenty of space and didn’t have to share bathrooms. A few bathrooms and the kitchen are updated which is very nice. Layout is great. We honestly didn’t even have time to use the pool table as we were enjoying the roof deck, pool and beach access. Owner is very responsive.

This house was great for us, we had three families and we were all really comfortable. It was extremely easy to get around and the beach was right across the street so very convenient.

The location was fabulous, quiet and very close to the beach. However, for the price, we were disappointed with several items - the large grill did not work very well; the clean air return appeared to have not been cleaned in several years; the deadbolt lock on the main door never worked (we notified the owner on Sunday, and he said he would have it fixed, but no one ever came by to fix); the pool was unusable by Wed. as algae had taken over; only the top level had been updated, with many of the bathrooms looking like they were straight out of the '80's.; several of the sliding glass doors were either very hard to lock, or never would lock.

This house was amazing! Just as pretty as the pictures! Alex was a great host. Gave us some sight seeing tips. Loves the horses! Definitely in our plans to come back.

Took a quick day trip to Corolla with some friends and stayed at the Whistling Clam - the location can’t be beat! We were on the beach faster than many oceanfront places we’ve stayed before.

Our stay at the Whistling Clam was great. Tons of space for two families with 5 children between 12 and 6 years of age. Could not ask more from the location -- quick walk across a quiet "street" to the boardwalk over the dune and then to a lovely beach. Great shelling and dolphin watching. Beautiful sunrises from the crow's nest in the morning. The accommodations were quite nice with the top floor being a wonderful place for all of us to gather. Kitchen had plenty of dishes, cups, pots/pans. A little barebones in regards to food items (really one salt and pepper) but grocery stores were very close by and had everything you could need. We came in the off-season, so many shops and restaurants were not open but we honestly rarely left the house/beach area and just cooked in the nice kitchen. Double dishwashers were great! Gas grill was huge and worked well. I needed to get a tank of propane but this will be reimbursed. Owner very responsive to all inquiries. We noted some leaking from one of the older vanities in one of the older bathrooms (most of them have been very nicely renovated) and he had a repairman out to fix it the next day. Pool was not open when we were there, so I cannot comment on that, but the hot tub was on and clean. Again, overall a great trip that was enjoyed by all!

We had a lovely stay at this great, HUGE home. There is plenty of space and bedrooms spread across three levels. Lots of decks - and a crow's nest from which you can see the ocean. We enjoyed the huge kitchen and comfy sitting areas. If you are looking for a big home next to the ocean, this is it. You walk out the door, down a boardwalk and your toes are in the sand.

This property worked out well for all ages. The common areas are just awesome. The living/dining/family room area was designed with big groups in mind. The kitchen updates were great and the entire extended family fit at the beautiful dining table. The beaches were perfection. We would definitely visit again.

Do not waste your time or money on this property! If I could give it 0 I would! We had never been to outer banks and this house seemed perfect for our family. It was a waste of money! The pictures on here are deceiving. When I arrived there was no water on to the house. I called an text the owner an Was not able to get up with him. I called the cleaning service multiple times and left messages and finally someone called me back. The only good thing was the lady sent her husband over to check on the water and it had been turned off at the meter so he turned it back on. My daughter arrives with the baby and I’m sitting in the floor playing with him and realized I was getting covered in dog hair…from the floor! Now I have absolutely nothing against pets I’m a dog person but OMG!! This place was disgusting!! I had to clean the floors with what they had and the next morning I sent my daughter to buy cleaning supplies and cleaned them 3 more times! Filthy is an understatement! I had to take all the bed linens and wash them..they were covered in dog hair! We couldn’t sit on the furniture because it was covered in dog hair! I had to take the extra bed linens from the beds we didn’t use and cover the couch so we would have some where to sit. The showers were nasty. Worst part was We found roaches! I was completely devastated! I just wanted to have a nice relaxing week with my family! The pool and hot tub were nasty. The pump to the pool was not working correctly it was just spitting bubbles into the pool. The lights out at the pool didn’t work, there was no where to plug them in at. The owner finally responded the next morning and According to him he is only available at check in time and any issues with cleaning call the cleaning people! Well they didn’t clean it right the first time! Finally around Mid week and second picture of roaches he sent a bug man out to spray and sent someone to lock the door to the pool pump instead of fixing it! Never told me how to get the lights to the pool on! Horrible experience!

Very spacious house, just a few feet away from access to the ocean. Enjoyed the beach, the pool and able to bring our dogs.

Location is perfect and the views are beautiful! We loved staying here with one exception, the house wasn't very clean. The 1st floor tub had a ring of mold around the drain. We bought our own Mr. Clean pads and cleaned the tub for them. The floors had sand and animal hair. I don't blame the owners but they need to have a real conversation with their cleaning crew they hired. Otherwise, house was great!

This house was the BEST way to end the summer with the family. We really enjoyed the whole house. The pool and hot tub were perfect to entertain everyone, including the toddler! You can't ask for a better location to the beach - it was literally right outside the door – ideal to go watch the sunrise. The views from the deck were simply breathtaking and the crow’s nest allows you to see what feels like the entire ocean. Despite other reviews, we found this house to be clean with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen was fully stocked and had anything you’d need to cook a meal. The big steamer pots came in handy when we made a seafood boil. The extra long dining room table was awesome for us to have a puzzle set-up on one end while still leaving room for all of us to eat. Great location, private pool, convenient to shops and the beach – we plan on coming back! Thanks for a memorable week!

Pros: location, pool, updated kitchen and baths. Loved the extra long dining table. Cons: outdoor can use updating, cooking utensils, pots and pans all need to be replaced. The nonstick pans all had scratches. Overall, we had a great time.

Pro-Great location, nice kitchen area (Dual refrigerators and dishwashers) Remodeled areas nice (this house seems to be a work in progress) hot tub nice, kitchen fully stocked, beautiful dining table. Cons-Jack & Jill had moldy shower curtain & shower head that continuously dripped, floors dirty especially under beds, window sills, fans, only enough towels to cover one per guest which is not enough, pool area littered with trash (broken chairs & umbrellas) , pillows need replaced, main living room area window poured in rain , exterior rails and pool fence need repair, exterior photos are not accurate representation of the home.

The location of the property to the beach and downtown was perfect. Grocery stores and shopping were very close by. Pros: Plenty of room for our family of 17 to spread out. Plenty of towels and linens were comfy. Two refrigerators upstairs plus one on the lower lever was very convenient. Lots of parking. Nice big grill. Outdoor showers were great in attempting to get all the sand off. Washer and dryer were convenient. Multiple decks and lounge chairs were nice. Cons: attention to detail on cleaning was lacking. We found trash and random items under the beds. One shower had an extremely black moldy shower curtain. The tile in another bathroom was pink ad moldy. There were two coffee makers, however neither one worked properly. The first morning we made coffee, the grinds went everywhere. And you could tell the grinds and coffee had been burned to the warming plate over time. I reached out the the owner regarding this, but received no response. We tried to use the other coffee maker but that wasn't working either. I just ended up buying a new one and leaving it there. The kitchen was lacking a bit in supplies for cooking/baking. No measuring cups/spoons, broken utensils, no mixing utensils, dirty old grill equipment. I attempted to use the vacuum to clean up some sand but the filter was so dirty there was no suction. The jack and Jill shower would not stop dripping. We let the owner know but no response. Some black out curtains would be nice too.

Experience was good and property had plenty of space, linens and towels. Two dishwashers, two refrigerators, remodeled kitchen and all new furniture! This house facilitated a great experience with our family and friends. When we arrived to the property there were some external asthetics that need work, windows need cleaned, old beach chairs need thrown out, some paint and deck is peeling, pool area needs some sweeping. But once inside, it’s awesome!!! The beach was wonderful, new shells every day. Great vacation!

The house is wonderful inside. Has everything you need and more. The outside and pool area needs a some major TLC. We had a wonderful time and loved our vacation here.

A beautiful home just steps away from the beach. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Whistling Clam which included numerous daily walks on the beach and short trips into town to enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants. Corolla is the place to be.

Great location steps from the beach! The house is newly renovated with big, comfortable couches and smart TVs galore. Very clean. Great communication from the property manager before and during the rental. I highly recommend!

This home was everything we were looking for. It is very spacious and clean. Each room has balcony which was nice. one of the balcony has hammock and swing. The kitchen has lot of good size pots and pans which was easy to make meal at home. The location of the home is perfect specially with small kids. Beach is very close so kids can walk back and forth easily. We would definitely stay here again. We loved the quite town Corolla and enjoyed our stay. The owner is super nice and responsive to messages/calls. every time I email/message, I received response within minutes. Overall, I recommend staying at this beautiful home with great location.
