What a great find. 5 minutes to the sea and a lovely beach. 10 minutes from the local grocery store. Less than 5 minutes to nice restaurants - Thai, Italian, Sushi, Indian. The house keeper was wonderful and kind. Same for the property manager. I’ve already booked my return visit to this place.

Great Stay at Mango House !!
We had a great stay and vacation at this place. The location is fantastic as we were very close to be able to walk to the beach, also near an upscale mall and a large grocery store and gas station were just down the road. It is also helpful that there were 2 banks/ATMs very close by.
You can tell the owners take pride in their unit because the house was very clean, cozy and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was like a home away from home. The kitchen is well stocked to do your cooking but there are also restaurants in walking distance to enjoy a meal. There is a nice patio to sit and relax and enjoy the cool breeze in the evening. The beds were nice and comfy. AC units worked well but most of the time we had the windows open because the house gets a nice breeze and that was good for us.
I felt very safe and secure in the area. The area was also peaceful and quiet. Even though I had rented a car I could have opted to take the transport bus somewhere like Bridgetown because we were very close to the bus stop (about a 1 min walk to the main road).
Next time I am in Barbados I will definitely stay at this property again.

February 2022 at Mango House
I had a very nice stay for a month at Mango House. The back yard is lovely and frequently visited by green monkeys looking to eat the ripe mangoes. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the grocery store. The house is well maintained and very comfortable. The bedrooms have air conditioning units, but I did not use the AC during my stay; the ceiling fans were sufficient. There is some vehicle noise during the day from the nearby main road, but I found it to be not an issue at night. The neighborhood rooster announces the dawn each day.

Covid-19
Mango House is ideally located, close to all amenities and beach in Holetown. Very comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 our stay was severely cut short. We thank Lynn, the owner, for all her support and help during this unprecedented time. We look forward to returning to Mango House at a better time soon.

A great stay in a lovely bungalow
We cannot fault this property and felt very at home. There was only two of us so we really appreciated the amount of space . Everything was totally clean and very comfortable. The garden was lovely .Property security was also very comforting. The only minor gripe with this house is
the high level of road noise ,but this only indicates how good its situation is in relation to the beach and Holetown centre.
We highly recommend this property.

Great location and amenities!
The Mango house was perfect for our family! Clean, spacious and private. Georgina came by to make sure everything was in order and it was great to meet her and get her perspective on this beautiful island. Everything is walking distance, great restaurants and beaches. We went to dive and were not disappointed! Walking to the dive shop every day and saw the most amazing under water sceneries!! We recommend Mango House!

A Little Slice of Heaven
As I begin my review of Mango House, I would be remiss, if I began without mentioning Wayne, the delightful, informative, charming driver, who picked us up at the airport and Georgiana a most endearing, capable and organized housekeeper! Welcome to Barbados, laughter & stories and both, Wayne & Georgiana, sincerely genuine in their character, gave us a very positive way to begin our wonderful stay at Mango House!
By the time we reached the gated, well lit and secure entrance, thanks to Wayne, our anticipation of arriving at Mango House, was met with
absolute amazement at the vision before us !!! Much more than we expected and upon entering Mango House, we were enveloped in an overwhelming feeling of calm! Georgiana had the house, spotless and well prepared for our stay. Thank You Georgie for taking care of all our needs and making sure we were comfortable.
Mango House, did have everything we needed and then some! Never knew that a house could be so snug and comfortable - a complete joy!
Beautiful gardens surrounding the house, Mango and Coconut trees, lots of shade, flowers and foliage, walled-in fence, all providing privacy and giving it a magical feel. The only visitors who required no invitations, were the Green Monkeys, young and old, Mongooses, Lizards and Birds. No need to set your alarm in the morning, the islands Roosters are happy to oblige!
Early morning breakfast on the Lanai, a romantic setting, were we would enjoy coffee, toast, Anchor Butter, slices of Anchor Cheese, Guava Jam, occasional Bacon and Eggs. I mention our breakfast, mostly to encourage you to try the Anchor products and don't forget Guava Jam - also worth mentioning, is the non-alcoholic drink, Sorrel - delicious !!
Situated in Holetown, St. James, Mango House rests in a quiet neighborhood, a few minutes walk to the breathtaking beaches, Bars, Restaurants, high-end clothing stores , shops and the well stocked supermarket, Massy's. Reliable public transportation is available very near the house, just around the corner! Lisa and Steve, have provided the house with maps, guide books and their own list of recommended attractions , activities to try and the best restaurants.
Truly, a Home Away from Home!!!!!
Once again, thank you Lisa and Steve! A most remarkable stay!

Peaceful location
Mango House is a comfortable bungalow set back in a private road yet only ten minutes from the centre of Holetown where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Our favourite was Zaccios, a good all rounder. The beach is just a short walk away with good snorkelling just out from the man made reefs.
The kitchen area has everything you need to prepare and cook a Bajan meal, and lovely breakfast bar.
There is a cool conservatory to relax in, the bedrooms are comfortable with plenty of storage facilities. The lounge area has very comfortable furniture to sit and relax .
The garden is a delight, beautifully tended with exoctic plants and lovely just to relax in. We were fortunate to see a trio of monkeys one morning raiding the mango tree, a real treat.
Housekeeping by Georgina is excellent along with overall good security.
Would highly recommend Mango House

Great house in a brilliant setting
Mango House is a brilliant place to stay in a very central location in Holetown and just across the road from a lovely clean beach with crystal clear warm water. The house was comfortable, well equipped and had a beautiful garden - we were lucky enough to taste the mango's right from the tree. Georgiana the housekeeper was very friendly, helpful and kept the place clean.
We enjoyed the water sports at the beach and were lucky to see the turtles in the late afternoon swimming off the rocks there and the monkeys in the trees. We also managed to scuba dive with Hightide Watersports - great underwater scenery and the opportunity to dive our first wreck. Food was great - enjoyed the fish fry at Oistins and also trying the very good value and tasty food from the local food stalls just round the corner from the house.
We would definitely recommend a stay at Mango House and hope one day to return ourselves!

Location, Location, Location: Mango House
When Lisa asked us to write a review for Mango House and our 10-day Barbados vacation, my initial reaction was to say no. It's not that the Mango House failed to meet expectations or lacked charm, it's just that we were so rarely there. And that is why we would definitely do it all over again, hopefully next year!
We spent half the day at the beach - Mango House is right across the road from a Public Access point to the local beach where we not only swam and lounged but also met a local turtle, whom we nicknamed Disco as he (she?) could often be found patrolling the reef in front of the Discovery Bay hotel. And half the day discovering - Though I wouldn't recommend doing it barefoot, we walked several kilometers in either direction along the beaches; all the way past Sandy Lane to the south and past the Folkestone National Marine Park to the north. Stopping for an occasional Banks beer at one of the many beachside restaurants (Surfside was our favourite) or a quick dip in the Caribbean Sea to cool off. If ever we wandered too far and lacked the energy to walk back to Mango House, we simply strolled up to the road and hopped one of the ubiquitous yellow buses that stop directly at the corner. Tip: Tell the driver to let you off at the Discovery Bay hotel to avoid any confusion.
All necessary conveniences (Massy Supermarket, specialty shops, fruit and vegetable stand, restaurants of all kinds and price points, etc.) are within short walking distance. The only convenience we couldn't find locally was a fish market but we happened upon a charming little market with fresh flying fish, Mahi Mahi and many others in Payne's Bay just a few kilometers south.
This wasn't our first trip to Barbados but it was our most extended and we were so pleased to have access to the amazing Mango House amenities (outdoor shower - sweet! - if only it offered more privacy) and its most priceless resources (Hi Georgie and Harry!). Harry even helped me find my childhood home in Christchurch Parish, which I hadn't been able to do in three previous attempts.
We will miss the island, the people and Mango House until we are lucky enough to return, which we hope will be in 2018!

Perfect
We just spent a wonderful 15 days at Mango House. The house had EVERYTHING we needed. It was spotless when we arrived and was exactly as presented on Home Away. The outside patio was our favorite place to sit and relax after a day at the beach or first thing in the morning before heading out for the day. So cool to see the monkeys in the yard when they dropped by to say hello. The location of the house was perfect. It was a short walk to get groceries at Massy's, have dinner at one of the many restraraunts close by or spend the day at the beach. When we wanted to head out of Holetown to check out some of the other attractions we were only minutes away from the bus stop. We enjoyed the fish fry at Oistons one Friday night, we visited the Barbados Wildlfe Reserve and loved seeing the monkeys playing in their natural habitat, loved Mullens Beach and Paynes Bay. The pizza at Zaccios was awesome and we had a couple of dinners at Just Grilling who offered great food at a reasonable price. Lisa and Steve were wonderful to work with and even made arrangements for someone to pick us up upon arriving. We look forward to coming back to Barbados someday and will definitely want to stay in this lovely home again.

Fantastic location in the centre & 2 min to beach
Fantastic location, lovely setting in its own grounds, with ample shade for those that want it, and sunshine all day long. Easy access to all the local amenities and 2 minutes to the beach and bars. They arranged a really friendly driver from the airport and back, which took the stress out of everything. Already booking up for next year !

Mango House is the perfect location
This will be our second stay in Mango House which is located within easy walking distance of the beach and many shops, bars and restaurants. The house was very comfortable with air conditioning in both bedrooms and a spacious inside living area as well as outside terrace where we ate breakfast every morning. It has everything you need for a perfect holiday and has a faster internet connection than we have in the UK. We spent most days on the beach which is literally across the road. The local bus stop is just around the corner which provides a frequent service between Bridgetown, Holetown and Speightstown. The house is fully equipped, even providing beach towels and a cocktail shaker !
We had a wonderful 2 weeks here and will be back again next year.

Great first trip to Mango House in Barbados
Mango House was perfect for our trip to Barbados; well equipped, excellent location in Holetown and very secure. We found the house and neighbourhood to be nice and quiet, and really enjoyed the fact that the house is detached with beautiful gardens - which meant it was a great, tranquil base for our first trip to the island of Barbados. The house is equipped with everything we needed for our stay, with good a/c in both bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of ‘living space' including a nice terrace and a super-fast wifi internet connection.
The house-keeper (Georgiana) and the gardener (Harry) certainly do a fine job of keeping the place in tip-top shape, and they were both also very helpful in providing us with useful ‘local knowledge' and any information we needed. Harry also was able to act as a guide and chauffeur for a trip out to see the Flower Forest and Harrison’s Cave (both within an hour’s drive, but not easily accessible by public bus). Harry was also able to collect us from the airport on arrival and also safely return us to the airport for our flight home - which meant stress-free transfers in and out, greatly appreciated as minimal stress has to be one of the main objectives of any trip to Barbados!
Mango House is ideally situated in the quiet and upmarket community of St James; 3 minutes walk to stunning, quiet beaches, and 5 minutes walk from a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops (including a supermarket) in Holetown. This was greatly appreciated as it gave us a good variety of options for eating / drinking / easy little local exploratory trips. The owners, Steve and Lisa, provided some very comprehensive information in advance of our trip and we fully concur with the recommendations they made for activities nearby (eating, drinking, watching cricket, shopping, souvenir buying, etc). We were easily able to venture out of Holetown by public bus (an experience not to be missed) down to Oistins for the famous Fish Fry there on a Friday evening (also, an experience not to be missed).
We could see, by reading reviews of Mango House from other guests both on HomeAway.com and also in the Guest Book in Mango House itself, that many of the guests return year after year - and it quickly became apparent to us why this is the case. We’re already looking forward to our next trip to Barbados and our next stay in Mango House!!

A lovely house in a perfect location
Mango House is perfectly situated within walking distance of Holetown centre and the beautiful beaches of the West Coast.
The house is well equipped and very comfortable with a beautiful garden.
The aircon in the bedrooms was very effective and the beds were great.
Lisa, the owner, provided us with a comprehensive information pack on local restaurants, attractions, things to do etc of which we took full advantage.
Georgiana, our friendly housekeeper, looked after us well and kept the house spick and span during our stay.
We were a party of four (Mum, Dad and two teenage boys) and I'd recommend the house to families and couples alike.
Our fortnight in paradise was truly amazing and we felt at home very quickly. A monkey (we named him Phil) came to see us every other day and he even brought his lady friend (Phyllis) to say hello.
In summary....a lovely house, lovely garden, great location!

Mango House has what you need for a great holiday
Mango House is as described regarding location and facilities. There were 4 adults in our party and the 2 large bedrooms and bathrooms were ideal for our needs which made our stay comfortable. The kitchenette was ideal for breakfast and lunch, we ate out on evenings, however it has full cooking facilities to prepare dinner. My favourite part of the house is the terrace where you can sit watch the monkeys passing through and having a mango, humming birds or just to enjoy the garden whilst having a pre-dinner drink.
Georgie, the housekeeper, and Harry, the gardener and taxi driver, made sure the property was maintained, clean and did the laundry. Importantly they are very helpful, polite, interesting and good company.
Lisa and Steve, the owners, met all our needs and customer service is good. They provided a written guide to the island (based on their experiences from transport to restaurants etc.) which is very helpful and we certainly followed up some of their recommendations; food from the chuck wagon round the corner was great.
The location was excellent for us, easy access to the local beach(es), transport, restaurants with varying price ranges, and shops in Holetown. Trents Recreation Ground at the bottom of the garden is handy and we went to see 2 T20 cricket matches.
Yes I would recommend to a friend or relative and indeed hope to return in the future. We had a fantastic holiday.

our stay at mango house was relaxing and the house was fully equipped for a self catering holiday and was very clean and kept clean by the wonderful housekeeper who was really friendly.
Thank you Georgie. We had visits from monkeys mongoose and various birds all very entertaining. Did a bit of sunbathing on the sun loungers in the garden then cooled off in the outside shower. The garden was lovely and private. Harry collected us from the airport was also very friendly and punctual both picking us up at the airport and taking us back for our return flight .
hopefully one day we will be back again

Fantastic home in the best location.
We've just returned from an amazing stay at this beautiful house and could not have been happier.
The location (a 2 minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes to supermarket and within spitting distance of countless bars, restaurants and (most importantly) Rum Shacks!!) is perfect. Just on the northern side of the Holetown shopping district it's got everything nearby but is "local" enough to feel like you're seeing a bit of the real Barbados as opposed to the experience the sanitised/soulless resorts offer.
The house itself is perfect for a family. I stayed with my wife, daughter and mother-in-law (thus my familiarity with the local Rum Shacks) and it suited us to a tee. Small but serviceable kitchen with a full sized oven, fridge etc, beautiful outdoor dining area and resident monkey in the Mango tree to entertain my little 2 year old. The appearance of the occasional Mongoose added the perfect amount of rodent without having to put up with rats, which was nice;-)
My only complaint with the wildlife was a hummingbird crapped on my floral shirt after mistaking it for a Hibiscus bush. Still it was a Hummingbird so not a large pile by any means.
With plenty of room in the backyard for BBQs (and a BBQ onsite) we really felt like we had a home which you just can't get staying in a resort. I'd have no worries recommending Mango House to anyone looking for a great base to explore the island or just a relaxing place to put your feet up and sip rum for a week or two. Or both.....

A beautiful home in paradise
We had an excellent stay and everything was perfect. Lisa makes the booking process very easy and pain free. Information before and during our stay was excellent and accurate both about the property itself and also the surrounding area and facilities. The house was very spacious with a lovely outdoor covered area and garden. Facilities were excellent at the property and made self catering very easy. The housekeeper kept the property spotless and was very helpful with local information. The surrounding area included a well stocked supermarket, designer outlet, numerous restaurantes ranging from beach shack to fine dining. I struggle to think of anything that could be improved. Look forward to returning soon.

We have the impression that Lisa and Steve compiled a list of everything that would make Mango House perfect and then provided them. Our aim was to do very little but relax and that's exactly what we did - very little. We were so comfortable and there was so much space, that we quickly fell into a routine of morning tea on the south veranda, breakfast in the dining area in the north veranda, poodle off to the supermarket for our daily supplies, back for a relax, stroll down to somewhere for lunch, back for another relax, dinner and bed! It wasn't all relaxation though - oh no, we did go on the bus occasionally to our lunch destination and we bought some fresh fish a couple of times from the Weston fish market so we did expend some energy from time to time! We've both come back feeling refreshed and well - a genuine tonic, pity it can't be bottled.

Mango House was immaculately kept, perfectly equipped (Global knives!) and in a great location for us, just on the edge of Holetown. The decor was very attractive and the garden (complete with monkey, mongoose and hummingbirds) was lovely. We had a peaceful and enjoyable holiday there, and I would warmly recommend the house to anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxed stay on the West Coast of Barbados. Georgina popped in every day to spruce the place up, and was really kind and friendly. Owner Lisa could not have been more helpful with all the pre-trip information and booking our trip. As a busstop was nearby, there was easy access to cheap transport up and down the coast: perfect for exploring. We were diving each day from the High Tide at the Coral Reef Club, only 5 mins away. We especially loved getting lunch from local street food stalls and popping in to Coxies bar 5 mins north of the house. Thank you for a fantastic holiday!

We have holidayed in Barbados many times in and around the villa area, but on this occasion , brought someone else with us. Although the hotel we normally stay in is really very good, we have spoiled ourselves by staying at the villa. Mango House is ideally situated for restaurants, shops, supermarket and bars both cheap and expensive.
The villa itself has everything you could possibly need, from flat screen tv's to books , dvd's, beach equipment and much more. The garden has two types of mango trees, one of which was in season whilst we were there and the fruits were lovely and sweet. We were visited by a monkey every morning about 6.30 am , who sat up the tree eating mangos and throwing the stones down to the ground. On a number of occasions we also saw a mongoose and one of it's offspring, but they quickly scarper if you get too close.
The garden has lots of flowers too, so, you will definately see humming birds every day. All in all if you have never been to Barbados before , then this is an ideal place to start. We always hire a car, but local buses are frequent, and within two minutes walking distance. Try Wendys bar in fitts village, ten minutes away by vehicle,
for cheap local beer, a Banks lager is only two dollars fifty cents barbados, and the food is good too. We will definately go back, if only to see Georgiana, the housekeeper, who is full of anecdotes and
funny sayings. Thanks to Lisa and Steve, we would love to meet you one time and go for a few drinks, first class home

We have had a fabulous time staying at Mango House. This was our second time and we will be booking up asap for another stay.
Everything about the house is wonderful!
Holetown is a great place to stay on the island.
We tried a couple of Lisa's suggestions for eating out and was not disappointed, especially Cassareep in Speightstown.
Terrific house, terrific island and really terrific people!!!!!
Looking forward to coming back.

Mango House is a real gem, from the moment we opened the door we knew that we had found a great place to stay and we relaxed immediately!
The House is very spacious (there were 4 adults sharing) and there is lots of leisure space - the conservatory area overlooking the garden was my favourite - the garden is beautiful. The house is extremely well maintained both inside and out - it really was spotless inside. We especially appreciated having the TV as we watched the Royal Wedding live.
Holetown has a lovely beach (literally 2 mins walk), great restaurants and bars (5 mins walk). Its not a wild teens party town, definitely more chilled out than that and suitable for couples of all ages, girls holidays and families. A trip to Surfside Bar for a Banks beer is a must and for those with dancing in mind head to Lexy's Piano Bar!

Although we have been to Barbados many times, this was our first villa stay, and what a delight. The property is very well stocked, kept clean and tidy by the delightful Georgiana, and close enough to all the amenities of beach, restaurants and shopping, but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing.
We hired a car for the week, completely unnecessary, only used it 3 times and could have caught the buses.
Hope we can come again for longer next time

Mango house was lovely. My family and I had a fantastic 2 weeks there - it is very centrally located for the west coast attractions, with easy access to the beach, shops, bars etc.
The villa is very well equipped with TVs, DVDs, books, games, body boards and smorkelling gear and was kept really clean by the very friendly housekeeper. There's only 1 TV channel in Barbados so taking a few of your own DVDs may be an idea if you're in during the evenings due to a young family.
The garden is very private and it was nice to be able to eat at the dining table in the shady outdoor room.
We would recommend this villa and Barbados to anyone and are already considering a return visit.

Lisa thank you so much for a fantastic holiday, everything was perfect, your guide pack was a great start to get some very helpful information.
Mango House is in the ultimate location just a couple of steps to the beach and a couple more into the middle of Holetown and the very posh new shopping centre.
This place has everything you need, it even has snorkels to go and see the Turtles :)
We're hoping to go back later this year as we couldn't have asked for from this wonderful house.
Thanks again Hazel & James xx
