yes the hotel was going through renovations but everyone was obliging.should be fantastic when finished.the staff were excellant .and enjoyed many meals there.superb.

Rooms having no toilet or shower

I provided my own breakfast and dined at a restaurant that was not in the hotel.. I parked on the street, in front of the hotel, which was fine except that there was a frost overnight and I had to wait until the ice on the car melted. I would stay at these premises again. Value for money, central location and the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly.

My own fault, but lugging my rather large suitcase up the 44 stairs (I counted them) to the room on the second floor was a bit of a challenge, a was coming down the stairs when I checked out.

Staff were lovely on arrival and helpful with my problems that then occurred once I went to my room.

My room was not ready, and there was ample time and the main bed looked like it should be thrown to the tip with torn cover and broken springs. Staff swapped rooms and the new room- light in the bathroom was dodgy, shower facility was not sufficiently cleaned,hot water was lukewarm at best, tv remote was missing, no additional pillows and the room lock was questionable. Pricing seemed excessive for what was supplied.

the air con was smoking nearly caught on fire and we where told to deal with it and had to sleep in a smoky and hot room all night

No remote for TV, no bedside lamp no wardrobe the cleaners left my door unlocked both days As a woman alone I found this disturbing

One toilet for the whole top floor. Hell! Burnouts toil the wee hours on two nights right outside. Did any staff call the police?

it is centrally located. it looked like it was recently renovated and painted. The food was good.

the accommodation was very poor. Something out of the 1950s. My room had a shower but no toilet and there hadn’t been a cent spent on it in 20 years.

The Royal Hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. I loved the old building vibe and the old creaking floors added to the charm for me. Beautiful view and the perfect location. Had been updated since the photos so it far exceeded value for money.

Loved it all, personally. Though some light sleepers might not enjoy hearing every foot step on the floor.

Great location - although also has drawbacks on a Saturday night (ie street traffic and hoons). Room was adequate with no frills. Air conditioned.

Interior was clearly worn and dated (as you sort of expect for basic pub accommodation anyway). Power points an issue (power boards used re inaccessible power points). Hooning Saturday night traffic didn't do it for me unfortunately. Chipboard cupboards etc have seen better days and are now not particularly useful. Some side tables next to the beds and a lamp or two would've been a nice touch.

Restaurant food & drinks were good, staff were all polite & pleasant on check in & the restaurant.

The bathroom facilities were ‘confronting’, but appeared to be clean. The cold water tap in the bedroom wasn’t free flowing. The kettle was not cordless which meant unplugging to fill it. The old wardrobe was like something from the ark.Noisy air conditioning units right outside our window.

Location was great for what I went down for

No TV remote control . No hot water to have a shower at night and no cups for coffee or tea .
