We had a blast at Bear Lair lodge! The house was beautiful and well-equipped (especially loved the body wash/lotion in bathrooms) and communication with Michelle was excellent. She also gave great recommendations for surrounding restaurants and we had a fun and low-key first family trip as a family of 5 (kids 3, 2, and 4 months). If we return to the area we would absolutely stay here again!

Property was fantastic. Large kitchen with lots of counter space was a huge plus. Lots of high-end amenities throughout the house. Truly enjoyed our stay.

There were so many things that make this a likely comeback experience. The home itself is warm, classy, plenty of room and oh so comfortable. It's part of a community of homes that has a modest clubhouse but the clubhouse is great. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, and when it rained, we took our toddler to the indoor pool. When it was sunny, the outdoor pool, playground, and cornhole toss were perfect ways to spend the late afternoon.
The town is lovely and reasonably small. There's plenty to do, and the VRBO owner was always responsive and helpful. Where to buy fresh fish? I just texted and got my response. What's there to do for toddlers? Visit the natural museum.
All in all, a great stay with a great owner--5 stars all the way!

We had a weekend in Vermont during Leaf Season and found this GEM of a home to gather with our children and grandchild. The home is just gorgeous, spacious, perfect for family dinners (large dining room table with a fireplace right there - great ambiance) and downstairs game room and den (also with fireplace) so much fun and filled with games, air hockey, etc. The bedrooms are spread out (2 on main, master on 2nd and loft bedroom on 3rd) so we all had our privacy. Kitchen is first rate and very spacious. The actual "living room" had a wood burning fireplace (our favorite) and lots of seating space. We spent two afternoons outdoors around the fire pit. The leaves were beautiful, the weather sunny and in the 60s, and it made for the best afternoon gathering, after returning from Apple Picking. I can't say enough about the host, Michele, and her excellent communication with us. LOVE LOVE LOVE! The kids also used the clubhouse (no charge) for the indoor pool and hot tub and the playground for our 1 year old granddaughter. The town of Wilmington is small, with several cute places for dining or carryout (we carried out two nights because we loved the home so much). Our favorite was breakfast at Dots of Wilmington. Get the cajun scramble or the pancakes (or both!) We hope to come back next year!

You will not find a more outstanding property! Would not change a thing. Spacious, beautifully decorated, pristine, comfortable…what else can I say.

We are an extended family of 8 visiting Vermont for a quick getaway before school resumes. The home is spacious, well-appointed, and as advertised. The bedrooms are well situated and held our family quite comfortably. The yard was large enough for the kids to burn some energy and was a great spot for a fire on a chilly night. The clubhouse provided an indoor and outdoor pool, a small game room with pool table and an additional room with a ping pong table - all well used during the much-needed rain! The home has a pinball machine in the basement and a very nice and well-maintained air hockey table. The kids had a blast playing in the basement (so did the adults). The towns of Wilmington and Dover have delicious restaurants and there is a hiking trailhead around every corner. Our summer visit to Vermont was wonderful thanks to Michelle and her beautiful home. The communication was excellent. I highly recommend this gem of a property.

Picture perfect spot for family Christmas!
The house is beautiful, and the Christmas decorations inside and out made it extra special for the holidays. The house is exceptionally well equipped – everything from a waffle maker to toiletries to an ice-scraper for the car – Michelle has thought of everything! She was a wonderful host – answering questions promptly in advance and while we were there. We were a little worried about the mountain roads with the snow and ice, but the HOA treated them promptly and it was easy access in and out.

The perfect property!
This is our second visit to this property and we will return
The home is spectacular, comfortable, welcoming, immaculate, what other positive statements can I make. Kitchen is fully equipped, large enough for multiple cooks😊
The host is just as welcoming as the home
Just a fantastic setting for our Fall getaway

Wonderful hosts and home
We had a wonderful time at Michelle's home and really appreciated her communication and quick response to all of our questions. The home was beautiful and was in a good location to the clubhouse and town center. This isn't the type of home where one can sleep in - the upstairs bedrooms are all open air (one bedroom is a loft and the other has walls but it doesn't fully enclose the space) so as soon as one person wakes up or makes coffee in the kitchen, the entire home is awake. We still plan to stay there again for skiing and early mornings are standard.

Fabulous Getaway
Our Bear Lair Lodge experience was fantastic. The house itself is beautiful, open, spacious and super clean. Michelle was super communicative, friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We utilized the community pool and playground which was great, and the town was quaint to walk around. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great VT getaway!

6 stars, if possible
We were here with another couple and their 5yo. We traveled with our 3yo. The house was so clean, perfectly and well stocked, and FUN! I had forgotten about the gems in the finished basement: air hockey and a pinball machine, plus a little putting/chipping golf hole out back. A wonderful fire pit, pretty string lights to light up the decks at night, techy TV, and 2 stovetops! We had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed the home. It worked better than we imagined for our family and friends.
The only 2 things I'll mention, that I didn't note before we rented is that the 2 upper bedrooms are "loft like" in that their walls do not go up the ceiling. Thus, light and noise does travel and transfer throughout the home. We travel with white noise machines for our kiddos, we just cranked those up and moved our adult conversations to the basement (or outside) when kiddos went to bed at like 8pm. The other note - and this is more personal than anything - is that none of the bedrooms have blackout curtains, so naptime for kiddos was a little harder on them to fall asleep.
Despite these, YES, we'd TOTALLY return and find ourselves comparing all our other VRBOs to this home. It was marvelous and Michelle's communication and dedication, little touches throughout the home made it just a dream. Thank you!

Beautiful Southern Vermont Retreat
Michelle was a great host and communication was perfect. The house was gorgeous! I travelled with my wife and two kids, a 7 year old and a 16 month old. We were looking for a change of scenery from the city and we received it. The community where the house is far off the main road and we felt like we were in the woods, just like we wanted to be. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The air hockey table, pinball machine, board games, and the clubhouse (indoor and outdoor pool) provided entertainment for the kids on the days where we experienced rain. Some of the places we visited included the town of Wilmington, Stratton Mountain for the gondola ride and hiking at the peak, the town of Bennington, Weston, Woodstock( beautiful), Quechee waterfall and Gorge (highly recommend Quechee), Sugarbush Farm in Woodstock for cheese and maple syrup tasting(highly recommend) and King Arthur Baking Company (highly recommend). We also drove to North Adams, MA for the MassMOCA museum (highly recommend) and Jiminy peak for mountain summer activities like the alpine slide and coaster (highly recommend). Also, we drove up to the peak of Mount Greylock, the tallest peak in MA. Some activities were close and some were far. The house was located in a central location to all of these places. In summary, the house was beautiful and perfect, Michelle was a great host and Southern Vermont has a lot to offer during the summer. I highly recommend staying here. If you are bringing a kid under two, I would recommend bringing a gate for the stairs. :)

Excellent ski trip getaway
The house was wonderful! Even larger than the pictures suggest. 17min from Mount Snow. It came well stocked with essentials (paper towels, spices, etc). Michelle was one of the most responsive and helpful hosts I’ve ever dealt with - so on top of everything. It snowed all weekend, and it is up several steep hills so you’ll need an AWD car for a winter visit - which she forewarned us about. Very easy check-in & out. Would definitely recommend for a small group of friends (like us - 3 couples) or a big family. Reception on the Wi-Fi/TV was a little slow but that was literally our only minor issue with the property. The heated mats all around the outside were so amazing with all the snow and ice. We will definitely be back again next ski season!

Wonderful, wonderful stay
We LOVED staying at Michelle's beautiful home. My husband and I were able to kick back and enjoy the house's many amenities; the awesome deck, the well-stocked kitchen, cozy beds, spa-like shower, the pool right down the st, the list goes on and on. We also loved exploring the area and the welcome change of scenery. Michelle was so helpful, not only in communicating during our trip and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed, but also w/local recommendations which we were delighted by (including Snow Republic Brewery, The Village Roost coffee shop, and The Last Chair restaurant). Thank you again Michelle! We were sad to leave and would stay again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful home, peaceful getaway
We have never rented a home before; we always stayed at bed and breakfasts or inns, and so we weren’t sure what to expect. We were extremely impressed! The house was as lovely as it was in the pictures, Very clean, well-stocked, and the owner was fantastic. She always responded immediately if we had a question and provided lots of information about the area. A very positive experience!

Excellent Stay!
My husband, three kids (ages 7, 5 & 2) and I had a wonderful stay at Blair Lair Lodge. The house was impeccably clean, very well-stocked and most of the furniture, towels and bed linens seemed brand new. Michelle was an excellent host. She provided many ideas of things to do in the area, restaurant recommendations and was prompt to respond to any questions that we had. The house is situated in a nice, quiet community that has a main clubhouse with an outdoor pool--our kids loved it! No complaints at all and we hope to be back in the winter.
