Chestnut Sweet exceeded our expectations. Couldn’t have asked for a better location for exploring the nearby towns, such as Salem, Ipswich, Gloucester, and even the big city of Boston. At the end of the day, it was always so nice to come back to such a relaxing and welcoming vacation home. Francie and Bob are such lovely people. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

My husband and I had a wonderful first visit to the Boston area, and staying at this VRBO was a large part of the joy. Francie and Bob have thought of every little detail and made the place feel like home. Plenty of natural light, soft and warm blankets and the coziest furniture. They even have a binder full of instructions and recommendations at the ready. And the space was even more spacious than it looked in photos. It was a delightful stay and we hope to come back soon.

Chestnut Sweet was charming and cozy and offered everything you could possibly want or need for a private relaxing stay. In a quiet neighborhood but within easy access to great restaurants, shops and entertainment. And only a short walk to the ocean. Francie and Bob are very gracious hosts. They are meticulous and warm in their attention to detail. All the simple things that make you feel welcome. The Sweet is well cared for both inside and out. I am looking forward to booking our next visit !

Quiet and cozy.

I cannot say enough good things about this property!! Staying at the Chestnut Sweet was truly a dream - such a welcoming, cozy cottage with every amenity and comfort you could think of. The location is in such a nice neighborhood as well, very convenient and close to lots of restaurants, shops, and sightseeing. We especially enjoyed playing (the provided) Scrabble while drinking wine by the fireplace. Francie and Bob are the most kind hosts you will encounter, they made our elopement weekend so special with memories we will remember forever! My husband and I did not want to leave and we can't wait until we can come here again. If you're thinking about staying at the Sweet, you absolutely should - you will be so glad you did!

We loved this spot, and Francie could not have been a more grascious host. There immediately when we needed something, but gave as all the space and privacy we could ask for the rest of the time. We highly recommend the Chestnut Sweet!

I made a solo trip to Marblehead for vacation and this property was perfect for my getaway! The cottage was super clean and cozy and had all the amenities that I could’ve needed. There’s a gas fireplace in the living room that was perfect after being out in the chilly air all day seeing the local sites. Francie and Bob were amazing hosts and were available 24/7 if I needed anything. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable, safe place close to everything. I definitely would stay here again and already miss Marblehead! ✨

This place was just so lovely! Francie had everything we needed and more, such a wonderful host. It was great for our trip to Salem (about 15 minute drive away), and it was nice to get away from the craziness at the end of the day. We also got some time in the lovely town of Marblehead. The harbor was just down the street, and such a beautiful view! This place was perfect, would absolutely stay here again!

This cottage and the owners are amazing! The cottage was clean and decorated with so much thought. There was fruit and cheese awaiting us. The host gave us suggestions for places to eat and they did not disappoint. My mother and I were staying in Marblehead to actually visit Salem for Saturday. We are need up exploring Marblehead and surroundings towns, even just relaxing in the cottage 😊. We enjoyed it so much!! We will definitely be back and I may be back for a solo trip just to relax and enjoy being by the water and quiet small town. Love this place ❤️❤️❤️😊

What an adorable little cottage. The pictures don't even do it justice. It is bigger then it seems. I love the attention to detail, the decor is stunning and Marblehead is breathtaking. It was a perfect distance from the madness in Salem. (Which is why we came). We ended up loving Marblehead more. Francie and Bob are amazing hosts So accommodating and kind. The "Sweet" was so well appointed, we wanted for nothing. I will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Ok I’m going to be honest, I never wanted to leave! This is the best host I’ve ever had and the location was perfect. My sister and I absolutely loved have coffee looking at the harbor, just a few doors down. While our trip was to visit Salem, we found ourselves cuddled up on the couch in front of the fireplace most the time. The host left us a fruit tray, which was so amazing, and even offered to run and get us wine. I will definitely be back for a relaxing weekend again, probably in “off” season. I couldn’t be happier with our pick! I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

This was the ideal place for us to spend our long Labor Day weekend visiting Marblehead and Salem! Francie was beyond welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The place was cozy and clean and the extra special touches made us really feel at home. We had 3 adults and it fit us perfectly. The location was top notch with the ocean right at the end of the street. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Our month has been incredible thanks to Francie & Bob and the perfect accommodations here at 36 Chestnut Street…a comfortable, welcoming, cozy, charming cottage so well located for walks to town and beautiful water views. This cottage is elegant, well thought out, and very comfortable. The hosts are very helpful and communication is top notch. Extremely happy we found this gem to stay at for three short nights. Would jump at the chance to stay here when we are in Massachusetts again!

Very nice host, lots of small attentions, we even got a small tray with food (cheese, crackers, fruits) when we arrived! The apartment is in a small house, behind their house and we can take advantage of their beautiful garden (we had our own space with table and chairs). Good location in a quiet street at about 15 minutes walk from the historic district or the Devereux beach. Would recommend without hesitation.

We can’t say enough about our 5* experience at Sweet Cottage. Perfect getaway in central Marblehead that is walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, groceries, and the historic district. The cottage has two living rooms that make it possible to be in separate rooms for TV or reading. Lovely bedroom is upstairs and has a half bath and good size closet. Full bath is downstairs. Beautiful bath towels and beach towels are in full supply. Lots of throws to stay warm. Fireplace in the TV room warms up that area nicely. The kitchenette is fully stocked with a convection oven/toaster, microwave, Keurig with pods, and small fridge. There’s AC, too. The cottage has a beautiful garden in front. We were a bit too early for the peonies and hydrangeas. Check out Shubie’s market, Java Sun for coffee, and take a short drive to Devereux Beach. Salem is a short drive away. Francie is a welcoming and attentive hostess. She had a tray of snacks out for us and responds right away to text messages. Delightful person. Thank you Francie. We hope to be back.

This vacation rental was perfect! The pictures that you see on-line depict the property exactly as you will find it, but even better. The space is used well and we found every room to be extremely comfortable and well appointed. Did I mention how clean, fresh and new everything was? It is clear that great care is taken with maintaining this property so that guests will be comfortable. Francie, the host, was extremely attentive to our questions before we even booked the property and once we arrived she made sure to address all of our needs. She is delightful to talk, yet she will never be in your way. The parking is on the street, but this was never an issue, nor could I see how it ever would be. You can pull into the driveway to load and unload your gear, and then park right in front of Francie's house on the street. (The rental is a separate building behind Francie's house). We like to walk and found that we could easily walk to restaurants, grocery stores, parks, historical sites and the beach. Her property is also a short drive to Salem. If you are considering a visit to Marblehead please look no further than this property. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. I would like to sincerely thank Francie and Bob for everything, and we hope to return for another stay!

My husband and I have stayed in numerous excellent rental properties both in the USA and Europe and we were thoroughly impressed with this townhome. Francie and Bob were exceptional hosts who made us feel at home at our arrival and throughout our stay. The property is immaculate, comfortable, and meticulously decorated. It’s truly a Marblehead paradise.

The cottage was lovely and just what we needed. The owners were very kind and welcoming. There are lots of good restaurants, etc. just around the corner. We came home relaxed and feeling as though we got great value for the price and would recommend staying at "Sweet" to anyone headed up to the Salem/Marblehead area.
