Calm, and chic and cool - like your best friends mansion house set in a perfect location with a unique 140 year old surprise on its roof - a very
special view of a very special town on a very special island
It was warm in the evenings but so was everywhere this week - 28/29/30 degrees - fans helped!

Everything. The position is near the port which is beautiful. We had a view from our lovely room , Hemingway, of the cobbled street and the port. However if you want it quieter ask for a garden view room. The garden is an oasis of calm and breakfast is served here if weather permits. Our room was spacious with a very large comfortable bed and large bathroom and good shower.
Parking was not possible in the street outside and although you can drop off your bags at the door a car park 300m away costs 32 euros a day. On the other hand if you don’t mind a stroll, the Cible car park is free and the bonus is the Cible Restaurant which is excellent with tables facing the sea.

Le Laternon is a home and an adventure in one. Everywhere you turn you are comforted and delighted by what you see and feel. From the incredible art works on the walls to the perfectly worn wood and finders linens….. it was difficult to tear myself away to venture outside.
I imagine coming back in the wintertime. And Autumn, and spring….again and again.

The property is stunning, with all details considered to make an inviting and unique space. It feels both modern and steeped in time. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with windows looking out on the garden. Location is excellent. Jerome is a gracious and helpful host.

Great location, interesting building with panoramic rooftop view of the town. Nice garden view
from our room.
This place is run for the benefit of the owners, not the guests. Initial check-in not available before 5.00 p.m. No breakfast on offer before 9.00 a.m. Towels apparently only changed every few days, not when we wanted. Bed not made up as expected over a five night stay. Half the light bulbs in the bedroom and bathroom needed to be replace; some were, but not all.
Our room was purposely shabby-chic, but bordering on shabby-cheap. Charges are in line with a decent hotel, but the place is run like a boarding house.

Superb place ! You feel at home ! Magnificient breakfast
Watching the sunset from the lanternon at the top of the house while sipping some champagne was fabulous
A most sincere thank to Jérôme our guest to have made our stay a memorable one
Merci et à trés bientôt

Location. Quality and size of room. Ambience of building.
Didn’t realise this was more of a guest house rather than a hotel. A very nice one with spacious rooms and lovely garden. But room not cleaned, bed not made, sheets not changed during six day stay.

very noisy room at the front overlooking the port

Fabulous location. Superb old and well restored charming hotel.
There is a viewing tower which I shared looking over the town with the hotel cat.
There was no kettle or coffee maker in the room.

Central location and a large comfortable room. A lovely old French house that’s beautifully decorated. Owner gave us helpful information for free parking a few minutes walk away.
A lot of noise at night if you’re in the front room. Room was not serviced during our stay. Breakfast was pricey at 15 euros. Theres a nice patisserie a few minutes walk away with a great range of pastries and sandwiches.

Attractively finished home of the owner. In a great location and fantastic views.
It would have been good to have somewhere to park our bikes over night - the owner did not want us bringing them through the house so we had to park them on the street outside - I can see he didnt want them in the house but we felt uncomfortable leaving them outside in the street as they were our own bikes not hire ones. The light from the outside street lights was quite bright in the room with the muslin curtains (our room was on the street side). It would have been nice to be offered some fruit/yoghurt at breakfast - it was a set breakfast.

The owner was very helpful and accommodating. Rooms and building are beautiful.
Parking is a little difficult

Very warm host who provided answers and advice, while giving privacy. The entire building has been recently renovated, and it is located in the absolute centre of the town, near the marina and restaurants. The room was spotlessly clean, with beautiful simple design, tall ceilings and a particularly modern bathroom. Excellent bed and pillows. There are options for public parking either in front of the building (paid), in a nearby parking (paid) or at a beachside parking 10 minutes away on foot (free). When we come back to Saint-Martin-de-Ré we will certainly stay in the same place.
The breakfast was a bit pricey.

Decor, pets and guy on the front desk were all fantastic. Location takes some beating!
Breakfast is not value for money, everything else brilliant

Hotel spaces are thoughtfully decorated. Location is directly in the middle of town.
Free parking was a long walk.

Perfect location.. Didn't feel to well . So missed out on breakfast ☹️. Very comfortable & clean .. Didn't sleep to well as it was too light due to streetlights. Very welcoming and would definitely like to return .
Just a personal thing with the too bright for a more restful sleep for us.. Maybe next time would like a garden view room .

Beautiful room, excellent view, amazing garden, great breakfast
Information about private parking is misleading (it is neither free nor private. It is public parking and expensive)
