Arriving in Achill, the hotel was very easy to get to! The staff were unbelievably helpful especially Margaret who seems to take care of everything from check-in, serving at thé bar, breakfast/dinner, guest care and rooms. There is so much pride for this hotel you can tell this from the locals who attended on Saturday night, there was a fantastic atmosphere in the bar. Granted the hotel is rough around the edges but the soul of the hotel is with the staff and how happy the guests were upon checkout. Margaret and staff went to all lengths to make sure we had a happy and comfortable stay! The rooms were everything we needed comfortable, clean and was actually fairly quiet! The food was delicious - I got the chicken burger on our first night and it was amazing! Kudos to the new chef on site! After a full on sporting day on Saturday, the full Irish breakfast on Sunday morning set us up for the drive home! The staff were extremely attentive and were very patient with us (10 in our group)! I would absolutely stay at the Strand Hotel again, a great gem of Achill! Just to note that the previous reviews dont do this hotel any justice! Please go and experience it for yourself! But remember your not booking The Ritz!

This is a very tired and neglected hotel. lacks the bare basics you would expect. what you get is a neglected worn bed with clean sheets and a towel. def not a single extra. No hot water until morning in any part of hotel, hotel cold and damp. No tea/coffee etc

We stayed for two nights at The Strand Hotel and was accomadated so well. I booked the two nights individually(my mistake), the hotel rung me before we checked in and asked if we'd like to be kept in the same room for both nights, which, with four children we really appreciated. We had an issue with our heater and it was sorted straight away. Definitely brilliant value for money. Will be booking again!

Fact that finally somewhere where you can bring your PET - Beach across the road - just perfect

There was no food available due to staff shortages. Staff are working hard to keep the place going and are very friendly & accommodating. 1 minute walk to a fab beach. Room clean & Sheets & towels clean and fresh.

late for check-in, we spent almost two hours waiting for the rooms to be ready, they had a problem with the employees and said they wouldn't serve dinner, in the end they did prepared dinner. Some employees you could clearly see that they had a drink. Breakfast supposed to be served at 9am, we were there with the group but unfortunately no one showed up make the breakfast, we had to look for another place to eat...a total lack of respect. Unacceptable!!!
