The hotel was in a great location , right on the beach, and close to shopping and dining. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and provided great customer service. The hotel was clean, and the room was very spacious and had a balcony with a partial ocean view. The shrimp and grits from the hotel restaurant were some of the best I have ever had.

This is not really a complaint, just something to keep in mind.. The balconies all overlook the pool, and that pool is wide open from 9am to 10 pm with kids having the best time. If you like to sit on the balcony and relax, listen to the waves better get up early or wait until after 10. You can't hear anything if you are inside the room with the door shut, though.

housekeeping!!! I am astounded by the lack of housekeeping. First, I cannot believe that our room was not provided with a DO NOT DISTURB placard. I even went to the front desk, and they could not locate one either. I was awoken at 8 am as my room was on schedule "every other day for housekeeping" Second, I asked for towels at the front desk. I assumed housekeeping would drop them off at my room. However, I was horrified that I, a customer was given towels at the front desk and had to bring them to my own room. This happened twice. The same issue happened when I asked for toilet paper. I had to walk through the lobby holding toilet paper and towels as if I was an employee. Thirdly, I asked for our room to be freshened up even though we were not on schedule. I called 2 times to the front desk to make sure this was done while we were out for the day. We came back to our room and not one thing was done. My husband had to go the front desk for additional towels and garbage bags and was told that we had to put out our trash and dirty towels in the hallway.

The shower tub was slippery and cause me to slip and fall. It was scary especially being 7 months pregnant. I definitely recommend placing shower mats to prevent this from happening again.

The resturant staff only are really good. Staff in reception very careless. Ive been to Marriott before in different countries, i dunno why this location has lower quality

2 cockroaches in the first 30 min of arrival. I booked the booked the big suite. The room was not clean, there were food and bags thrown near the coach. I was very tired and when i found coacroaches i freaked out and went downstairs, staff at reciption were very careless and i told them if this is a common thing i ll have to find another place & their response was “ yes, tell us when you decide to leave” .. one guy said i ll change the room and i went to different room to survive the night. I was really dissatisfied & in the morning i we t to front desk to tell the lady & she saud “we are in a state park, what do you expect”.. ive been to parks, resorts, worldwide & this was never accepted. And i do not understand why the staff act like that.

Location was good. Staff were attentive if needed. Still has the new hotel feel.

Room seemed to be half cleaned when we arrived. bed was made and things had been wiped down but there were only two towels and two wash cloths in the bathroom. there was a knife and a fork in the sink and food still in the frig. I feel like the cleaning crew overlooked a few things. Breakfast needed to include more options for dietary restrictions like gluten free.
