A lovely family run place, with lovely helpful hosts who made good local recommendations. The swimming pool is gorgeous and the backdrop of olive groves and fruit trees divine. We had a standard accommodation on the edge of the complex which was peaceful and had a lovely terrace with table and deck chairs. The bungalow was really well kitted out for self catering and there is an espresso machine by the pool. We had the breakfast one day, which was a lovely treat. With local pastries and delicacies such as sun dried figs with almonds (made on site) and prickly pear. We cycled to Commenda beach through olive groves and a sunset picnic which was gorgeous too.

It was fine for us because we were set up for self catering, but there is no additional bar or restaurant on site. So book with a view that you cater for yourself or head out in the car for dinner. We liked Manduria for this.

- We expected a lot more for this price (225 euros per night). We traveled a lot through Southern Italy including the Salento. We experienced much more value for money at other accommodations. - The apartment is new and clean, but actually it is more of a cabin with thin walls (meaning that they do not hold any sound). - No facilities offered by the accommodation, e.g. gym, playground for kids, (small) bar. - The green on the location could be maintained better. The grass in the swimming pool looks very good, rest of park needs more attention. - We didn’t feel very welcome upon arrival. There was no welcome, only a very formal approach. A little word of welcome and/or welcome drink can make a big difference. - No airconditioning per room, only in the living room. - The surrounding is not so beautiful as other parts of the Salento, Maruggio itself is quite ugly. Shops and restaurants around are old and of poor quality.
