We had a great stay at the Renaissance. We came for a concert. We felt like the location was great. Easily accessible to restaurants , coffee etc. Our room was clean and had all the necessities to make our stay comfortable. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful.

Good area. However wlwvator got stuck on us. THEN- we went to our room. Room 503. Smelled awful. 1/4 of the carpet was soaked. They sent someone up. They said air conditioner leaked. Only room with 2 queen beds so we were stuck. Couldn’t walk around soaked carpet. And the smell was awful!!! Felt so dirty. Disappointed

The hotel was very clean. We used the gym and the pool. The interior design was very posh. We even ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant. A great hotel for the price. Plus it was in historic Philadelphia which made tourists trips very easy to plan and access. I would stay there again.

Tub failed to drain. Staff addressed promptly, but still. Also, room oddly dark due to inadequate lighting.

Great staff! Everyone is nice, knowledgeable and courteous.

The Renaissance Philadelphia has so much potential, but needs some more attention from parent company, Marriot. The positives…great location by Independence Hall and Olde City; and large spacious rooms. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The hotel strangely feels like it’s abandoned, the energy feels off. The lobby/bar/restaurant space is so large and impressive, but again doesn’t live up to potential. There is a lack of hotel personnel and no one seems happy to work there. Maybe some lovely music would create better energy and more buzz. The night I was there, they had a singer performing but no one was there to watch. I think some more Marketing and PR would be beneficial. The hotel was fine, but could just be so much more with a little TLC. This review is not about bashing The Renaissance, just a recommendation that a little revamp would go a long way!

Location is what this property has going for it. Staff were not really friendly. Problem finding reservation then had to produce documents from Expedia to prove it. Front desk girl was not helpful. Bed was a little softer than a park bench. I would have bailed if not for the location for walking.

Lovely bar, lobby, entrance, restaurant and great staff. The cons are in the room itself where the furniture is old and worn and the finishes are a bit sloppy. It's extremely clean though and convenient and everything works perfectly just needs some new furniture, paint, and generally tighter construction finishes,

Very helpful staff! The convenience of this hotel is probably its best feature, very close to subway stations. City is nicely walkable from here too.

Room was booked as 1 X Twin Share with 2 beds for 2 males to twin share - there was only one bed in the room

The room was to have two beds for two gentlemen to share. The room only had one bed which was not appropriate. The reservation staff did not try to resolve the problem. They said there was no two bed room available for the entire stay yet I could go on line direct and book a 2 bed room for IN: 31st May OUT: 3 June. Our clients are part of our VIP list and the service was NOT acceptable. We will not be using this hotel again in the future.

Liked this hotel for the convenience of what we were doing. Clean hotel and the lobby looked great. All the staff were very friendly and nice. Didn’t like that our room had a carpet.

Property was pretty expensive, especially what wasn't included in the price - Wi-Fi being one of them. Staff were friendly, but didn't go over the basic details about the property like where you can find the gym, how to access Wi-Fi, etc. Rooms are very dimly lit, and there is no main light switch, which is very inconvenient. You have to manually turn on every light you want to use. My room smelled like mothballs. I tried to ignore the smell, but when the tub in my bathroom wouldn't drain, that's when I felt compelled to say something. They kindly switched me to a new room that smelled a bit better and for the inconvenience they gave me a drink and breakfast voucher. The surrounding area was fine - things close earlier than I am used to coming from NY. For the price, i wouldnt recommend

Great experience- walked to dinner, great night’s sleep, safe and easy

Our room had one small window with a view of brick walls. The room was very dark, minimal lighting and couldn’t tell if the sun was out. Cleanliness was fine. Under staffed.

Room was large and comfortable. The location is fantastic for seeing the historical sites of Philadelphia. Rooms are priced on the higher end and valet can be used for about $50 per day including tax. Tip is extra but they are friendly and will load/unload your bags. I would stay here again.

I’m sure everything was state of the art when it was made but it looks like nothing has been updated since then. Don’t get me wrong. The place is nice but the pool definitely needs updated parts of the bottom were cracking enough where you could possibly cut your feet they got rid of the hot tub that it shows online. I can’t speak for in between guests, but when we put the cleaning request placard on the door, none of the bedding was changed.

The location is exceptional. A few blocks from all the major historical sites. Plenty of restaurants from fine dining to hole in the wall gems within a few blocks. Staff is very pleasant and helpful, but seems they need better overall training and supervision.

It was a beautiful room with a great shower and terrific view. Super dog friendly. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Cafe and restaurant very convenient in the morning in the hotel with a lot of great restaurants and sight seeing in the area while being walkable. Only drawback is the level of noise at night - the street noise was loud and every time someone on the floor slammed their door at night it was jarring and loud; for a light sleeper this was worth taking a star off and if I was a deep sleeper it would be 5 stars.

Located in the Old City Section of Philadelphia, within walking distance of museums and several Philadelphia Highlights Parking lot is just around the corner

It was a wonderful overnight stay at the Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. The service was all exceptional. Smiling faces eager to help. The room was clean and roomy. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. The valet service has your car out front of the hotel ready for you..

Great please for staying to explore the historic city

What a wonderful place to stay! Everyone was knowledgeable and kind.The room was quiet, clean and beautiful. We truly enjoyed our visit to PA.

Our trip to Philadelphia with a stay at the Renaissance was wonderful. The location was perfect for walking around the historical sights, walking to the convention center area and getting in and out of the city. The hotel seems newly renovated. Our room was large (corner room) with plenty of space. The front desk and valet staff were pleasant and very helpful. The let us know ahead of time that our checkout day might be busy and take longer to get our car. We waited til later in the day and had no issues to get our vehicle. We would definitely recommend staying there and would stay there again if we were planning to be in that part of the city.

Highly recommend. Great location. Clean and comfortable. The lounge area was beneficial as the weather wasn't ideal so we'd take breaks (dry off) and play games. Parking in the garage around the block is half the price, worth it.
