Odor of cleaning products upon entering.
Loud neighbors. VERY SLOW TV!!
Clean enough but probably wouldn’t stay here again

The room was very nice and clean, the property was a bit rundown, and the staff was a little unfriendly.

Very nice, clean, beautiful area

This place is reasonably priced, conveniently located, and has friendly staff. The beds were not very clean, it felt like they had dirt/sand on them. The buildings could use some updating, but overall a good value. Breakfast was standard, though go early because it becomes crowded at 8:30.

The room was shabby and dirty. My husband and I shared a queen bed with a crater in it. We both were hanging on to the edge to stay out of the hole in the middle. It was a terrible night.
Upon check-in, the lobby had a terrible smell. It was like moldy citrus. We did not dare have breakfast there the next morning. Such a bad experience!

The first night was interrupted at 2am by the guests next door laughing loudly and jumping on the bed. The front desk worker quieted them down. The unforewarned drilling started at 7 am. I complained kindly at the front desk and was rudely answered by the worker. She is 6 months pregnant and was kind later so I forgive this. The other guests former and current said the general manager is a real piece of work. They over us to a better spot same price. They raised the price by $60 the following night due to labor day pricing. The delay was with the extension and communication between you and the motel. It's a battle I am not going to win so I'd rather not begin. It does encourage me however to seek a different motel and hotel booking service for the future visits which will most likely be numerous.

1st room 159 the beds were supported by 2×6 frame with L brackets straight to box springs...they were broke.
Next room (112) wasn't so bad.
Not the same place we once remembered.

There were two issues for me. The cleanliness was not good! Besides the very very strong cleaning smell in the room; that made my eyes burn and could be smelled outside of the rooms too! I couldn’t use my clap machine as it would have made my machine taste like the supplies. The air conditioning unit was literally hang g off the wall, open with the grill on the floor and the unit mechanism broke so it couldn’t be turned off. We were frozen during the night. I do not recommend this hotel even with my pet.

Property is in poor condition. Deferred maintenance, hot tub out of service
Rooms are tired and worn. Bedding is tired and worn. Pillows are foam bricks.

The room wasn’t bad. It was clean except for the shower curtain. The neighborhood was the bad part, several transients are right across the street. They would yell at people as they walked by. Breakfast was good except when I got down there at 9am there wasn’t much out. The hot tub was being resurfaced so we couldn’t use it but the pool was nice. For the price, my stay was affordable and adequate.

I loved the two bedroom suite.

Lovely property and room. Great lawn for our dog to chase her ball! Love the shower and all the eco friendly amenities. Coffee flavorful and hope you’ll find a way to not have the single use plastic coffee filter things and single use plastic cups. Would love to stay again! Staff was very helpful while trying to juggle the property all in her own.

Enjoyed the place although the hot tub wasn’t working and was looking forward to it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Best Western hotel during our weekend stay in Grass Valley. We did have a few issues in our room (158) - the deadbolt did not work, there were ants in the bathroom and night tables next to the bed and the hand soap container was empty in the bathroom. The hot breakfast provided was just ok. As a continental breakfast option, it was good. The scrambled eggs were "interesting" and the sausage patties were edible.
Other than that, we were surprised how quiet it was, even though our hotel room (158) was facing the freeway.
The staff was friendly, but we were thinking they are short-staffed a maintenance person, which is why the room had the issues it had? Anyways, we hope they do get staffed up and they improve on the quality of hot food and room readiness :-)

Second night was cancelled even though we had added another night. We were told we would have to move rooms after the first night. So we chose to leave. Pool was not available and there were no charging ports for phones. But room was nice and comfortable

Breakfast bar had several options. My room had good safety bars in shower.

We checked into this hotel after having issues with our Airbnb rental. Issac at the front desk was nice and friendly to chat with for a bit after a tiring long day. We requested a late checkout, which was granted. The hotel is so cute, nestled amongst the trees and the grounds are well maintained. The room was a bit dusty, AC unit was dirty, the area behind the tv was dusty, as were other areas in the room, which we wiped down. It smelled like it may have been a pet friendly room because it smelled like a dog was in there. The bleach smell was overpowring as well when we walked in. The shower is a walk in shower with the sliding glass doors, which were stuck to begin with and the next morning we couldn't get them move either. Had to adjust the shower head in a way that we didn't get water out of the shower area as the glass doors were just stuck in the middle. The room has a sliding glass door with screen that looks out to the lawn, like a courtyard feel, it was cute. The screen door though was off its track, I put it back on track so we could enjoy the fresh air without bugs coming in. The bathroom also has a window way up high, so had to climb on the counter to open/close that. We had issues with the tv, kept saying low signal or no signal. Too tired to care at that time, but they do have a tv, fridge, microwave. It was a quiet place to stay. Morning staff were just as pleasant.

This hotel was full of problems. I am actually shocked this was a best western.
Food: The first day they didn’t even have plates. The second day, they didn’t have bowls. We had to get our own from our hotel room. The sausage was always half burnt. The food wasn’t refilled in a timely manner two days we were there.
Property: This doesn’t look at all like the picture. It was rundown and outdated. The pool was so filthy my girls had no desire to swim in it. The carpet was so dirty that we would take a shower and our feet would be black by the time we walked a couple of feet into the room.
Customer service: We could never get anything we needed. We asked for towels and shampoo and ended up having to call corporate because after 2 hours we still didn’t have them. They had cleaned our room the day before and only gave us three towels for a family of four. They also didn’t check any of the bottles in the shower because by day 3, every one of them was empty. It took too long to get anything from the front office. Also, the first night we asked if we had to use the card we had used in hotels.com. They said no, we could change it. They ended up charging both of my cards. They tried to blame me because I should have known the third party would take it out. We can’t be the first person who used a third party and they should have known better than to take my credit card.
They ended up giving us a 200 dollar discount. But that wasn’t enough to make up for a miserable five night stay.

The entry door was stuck, had to use my shoulder to open the door. The overall "feel" was run down and dilapidated. Finishes were old and dated. The bed was broken and sloped to one side. The front door view/ was of the side of the freeway though the sounds of the freeway were mostly mitigated. Overall, the cost was way too high for the condition of the room. I was extremely disappointed over a poor nights sleep.

This Best Western, is one of the nicer ones that I’ve visited. The grounds are clean, as well as a surrounding area and they have a swimming pool. Our entire Car Club stayed, alone with our classic cars and they were safe day and night. I haven’t stayed at a hotel, where the door faces parking lot in a while, I’m usually in a building. But to be honest, this place has been recently renovated or is a fairly new property. The room was very well-maintained and was modern. I had a king size room, room 150. Nice bed, huge TV and very clean. Also, they have soap on the wall by the sink and body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower. I can’t believe how good the continental breakfast was. You technically don’t have to run out and get breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Cons: Rooms smelt of urine, stained floors and curtains, sketchy folks in the area. Saw smashed broken glass from car windows. Noisy if you room near freeway.
Pro: Staff was nice, regular breakfast.

I have stayed at this hotel for work. It has been a great, clean, reasonable priced option as a place to return to each night. It is great to have the breakfasts included and available so early. Nice to have a bakery and grocery store across the street. I will continue to stay here when I am travelling for work in the area.

This is the hospitality industry. While the young man at the front desk was efficient, he seemed less than happy to see us checking in at 9:15pm. Once we found a parking a space (challenging), we found our room less then clean. The table between the beds had not been cleaned, guessing soda cans as when we cleaned it, it was sticky. The bathroom had hair, too personal to mention that required cleaning. Thankful for our sanitizing wipes. In the morning, discovered the shower had no curtain. Called the front desk to ask if it was a “fancy” shower that did not require a curtain. “No”. We were on a timeline to get to a memorial service. Called to follow up on our request, when maintenance came and installed the shower curtain. Upon our return that evening, again, finding parking was a challenge. In the morning, checking out, spoke with a clerk at the front desk and asked that a manager call us regarding our concerns. At $200.00/night, we at least expected a clean room and shower curtain. After a week without a return call, followed up again and still no call. Gold Country Inn, you are not a good representative of The Best Western brand, given our experience.
