Good value for money. Rooms are basic but comfortable

Comfortable supportive mattress, but not enough room around bottom of bed. I caught my feet in the bedding and fell over hurting my knee and hip. Horrible whining noise in room all night. Good breakfast, cosy restaurant. Music in reception made it difficult to hear and communicate with staff, especially for anyone with a hearing impairment.

I can’t fault the hotel. It was really clean and comfortable with a lovely bar and restaurant area. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had - so much choice. Would stay again.

Beautiful hotel. Front of service / desk a little slow, but was busy, need more staff. £30 excessive to park a car & further £3/hr if later than 12pm. Missed breakfast sadly

Expensive at the bar, but that’s city prices for you! Staff are lovely, car parking good and breakfast excellent.

When you pull up there is no real parking except on double yellows or taxi rank while you go in and sort out parking (have to use their valet service) for £30 per night Ideal location near centre Staff are very friendly Hotel is very dated Room was basic and had a very small window in the corner which was very disappointing It was a connecting room and you could hear every word the couple next door said Breakfast was excellent Collect baggage and vehicle at the end was very slow

Well let me start by saying we had to leave the hotel and drive home at 1am in the morning thanks to the group that were in the next room to us who had been unashamedly noisey and thoughtless since they arrived in the afternoon. We complained to the staff who were onto this straight away and had given them a warning , however when one of them came back to the room at 11am and decided to slam the door four times before he went out again it was just too much ! We packed up and left, because we knew the rest of the night was not going to go well . The reception staff were fully aware of what was going on and were brilliant in trying to resolve , they were going to move the group to another room , but we said it was too late we were all on edge and felt it better to leave . I can’t fault the lady manager who was on shift she was an absolute star , thank you .

Lovely stay here, close to town so no need for the car. The staff were very friendly.

Hotel is too old!

The hotel was in a great location close to the city centre. The bar and staff in the dining room were very helpful, friendly and made you feel welcome.

We were advised to arrive early to be sure valet parking was available which we did and we were successful. Unfortunately we then had to wait 5 hours for our room to be ready. Other than this we had a great 4 days.

while the staff were helpful at check in it was all so inefficient, could have been much smoother we felt...i guess just busy! room was tiny, AC control but NO functioning AC in our side of the building the other side had no AC at all....room cleaners knocked first at 0800!! on a two day stay!...

Good Breakfast and staff friendliness

Great location, great location, great location. Well done too for offering parking at relatively good rates. The staff were polite but not very attentive or friendly. The furniture was adequate with quality below par for the cupboards with doors that stuck. Sounds proofing was poor in the room and there was no fridge.

This hotel is in prime place in front of Clifford Tower so ideal for exploring York. Good service from the staff there. Breakfast included which was great. Only problem is that the air conditioning was broken on the hottest day of the year so far. There was a fan provided but not as comfortable at night.

Bar staff great reception very slow don’t really know what they doing ! Tried to get water from bar and reception both nights and there WAS NO Water , also NO AC the rooms were very hot and sweaty

Unfortunately, the rooms were extremely hot even though it was quite cool outside, especially in the evening. Therefore it was difficult to sleep even with the window open.

I paid a fortune for one night for my girlfriend’s birthday, and l was given a disabled room! Thanks! Very expensive and very disappointing!

Poor hotel , Dated , needs

Decent enough room, but the air-conditioning didn’t work. It switched on but no cold air came out of it. Had to try and sleep with a tiny desktop fan next to the bed in sweltering overnight heat. Needless to say, didn’t get much sleep as it was too uncomfortable. Mentioned it when checking out, and was told all the A/C units in the hotel were not working. Find that hard to believe, frankly. No mention of any partial refund due to basic amenities not working. Only interested in charging me for breakfast and parking. Because it’s all about the money. They also had issues printing my invoice. Very inconvenient having to leave without one. Probably wouldn’t stay here again. Fully expecting Hotels.com to censor my review as it doesn’t favour the hotel.
