Stayed there for football game nice hotel manager made you feel very welcome room is nice had Netflix and freeview and you tube channel on tv in my single room

A warm and friendly welcoming. The hotel is situated in a good location in the town centre and the takeaway breakfast was a nice touch. However the bed was not comfortable and I did not sleep well. It was a windy night and the windows were rattling which woke me up and kept me awake. The property is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade.

Upgraded to a refurbed room but a twin, the double was freezing so no choice really but it was free and a much nice room. The window had a gap and on a road so not the quietest or warmest, the shower was cold and they served turkey rashes instead of bacon for breakfast, beef sausages fine but come on. The staff are great and the hotel is clean. Overall it was ok, I won’t stay again though sorry

I rarely review but I have to say that the room was extremely comfortable and modern in design. Parking was a little limited but I managed OK. Didn't make breakfast as I was away too early. Great welcome from the manager though and you could tell there was great attention to detail overall - it's the little things that matter. I would definately aim to stay here again when next in the area.

Very steep windy stairs to get to our room but as we were only staying one night we didn't change to an offered refurbished suite on a lower floor for an extra €10 per night. Staff and breakfast were great

If you want really good service and value for money this is ideal. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and the room was absolutely fine. I was in one of the updated rooms and it had everything i needed.

Disappointing stay. Hotel needs a lot of upgrading. Room very tired. Wardrobe with door removed electric heater insufficient. Ensuite grimy and cold shower mucky. Bedding old with blankets. Tv tiny and very old. Breakfast called english in advertiding but was Halal and only available till 8.30am. First floor bathroom door open with a redident relieving himself. Not a good experience.

Good hotel stayed in one of the older rooms due a refurb and it was... Good value for money for a city centre stay. Reception and the welcome was 100%. Slept ok.

A very friendly, family run hotel. It is a short walk into the centre of Ipswich. Nice breakfast cooked to order.

We came to Ipswich to visit The Suffolk Show. We were made to feel very welcome at The Carlton, unable to fault the breakfast it was lovely and we have never had better. We were on the 2nd floor and as I am not very agile I found the steep narrow staircase rather challenging but manageable. We would stay again. A real bargain price too.

and wonderful staff seeing to everything we wanted.
Rooms are a bit dated but clean, lovely and warm with everything we needed, I know they are upgrading the rooms one at a time to.
Would definitely visit again.

Owner was very friendly and helpful. All staff were very nice. Hotel was very basic and a little tired but was fine for an overnight stay.

The staff is very friendly and polite. Room looked as on the pictures, beds were Ok. Tea/coffee available in the room. shared bathroom was very cold and the electric shower is not the best.Breakfast was absolutely amazing. Great choice of items and good cooked breakfast as well. Good place to stay for one night.

Lovely family run hotel,slightly old fashioned but it has a great location,really nice staff and nice clean,comfortable rooms

The staff were most helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a visit to the New Wolsey Theatre (a 5-minute walk). Also handily located for the railway station (a 15-minute walk).

Terrible state of the place, looks like it will fall apart any time soon, dirty and with an unpleasant smell, it's cheap but not even worth a quarter of what paid.

When I arrived, my room had been newly plastered, with no wallpaper. It smelled of fresh plaster. I was moved, no problem. But why was the room even offered to me in an unfinished state?
Also, no off-street parking available, the car park was full.
When I got back at 12.30, the hotel was in darkness, until I opened the door and the light came on.

although the rooms were not dirty, everthing was tired with the general feeling of being run down. however there was evidence that they are refurbishing the rooms. there are new doors fitted (upside down, but i doubt most people would notice this) and the walls have been prepared for painting. it is a shame they had not closed the rooms one at a time to refurbish. the parking is limited but not bad. the owner seemed really nice and helpfull. the breakfast was not bad either, but the coffee was awful.
