Excellent for the price - get what you pay for, good basic continental breakfast, comfy bed, lots of privacy. However hot tub jets do not work which was a little disappointing. Got to check in early which was very convenient and would stay again. Thank you!

It was nice

TV did not work upon arrival, limited breakfast options, stained tub

Great place to stay

The hotel was a bit tired and cleanliness could have been a little better, but for the price we were happy with the accommodation.

In booking description our room offered a “jet jacuzzi tub” . Was in fact just a tub with no working jets, no water pressure and took over an hour to fill up . This was the main reason we booked this room which was very expensive for one night . Will not be booking again .

No air conditioner for the summer, hot tub needs real good rust cleaning windows need better locks

Worst experience ever. Don’t waste your time or money. Dirty cabins, false advertising, tweekers and rude staff! Be sure and read all reviews including here and Yelp. The older lady with white hair in the front office is rude and lies. I’m surprised the Owner of this property allows this type of behavior towards customers. Much better places to stay in Big Bear!

BEWARE: Bait-and-switch. The room I booked online was not the room I was provided. There were dozens of rooms to select from so I was very specific in the room we chose. The room I was provided was dirty and rundown, had a completely different layout, had stained bedding, had spiders, and was disgusting. The property had definitely seen better days, maybe 30 years ago. The stairs were unsafe, with torn carpeting and bricks falling off or broken.
When I asked the front desk to give us the room we paid for, they said Orbitz had assigned the rooms. Orbitz said it was the hotel. When I asked to cancel, the same issue. Neither would accept the responsibility for the gross room or the refund, each blaming the other.

If you are looking for a 5 star place to stay then this is not for you. If you are looking for a nice getaway for a weekend then this will be just fine. It is in a mountain community so you should expect just that.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet! The property really needs some work! The staff was wonderful and the cabins were cozy! We enjoyed the porch and the bed was comfy!!

The staff was courteous and friendly. A nice size room though outdated a bit.

Older property with quaint charm. Staff was great and very helpful. On the main road, so a little noisy bt new windows would fix that. Fire station across the street

Property was clean but everything felt old and like it needed major upgrades. TV was fuzzy. One bed really uncomfortable. Budget friendly, but you get what you pay for.

It was a really nice stay. Loved the hot tub and the pool. The room was a little on the old and dusty side and the plumbing fixtures had leaks but nothing too bad. Staff is very friendly, and I can’t wait to go back and bring my family on a family trip. They do have big cabins for families!

Loved it great outdoors vibes

The studio room bed was advertised as a queen bed with a couch (this was the picture that was posted with the studio room), but it was a smaller full size bed with a mattress that was lumpy and uncomfortable. The free breakfast had limited hours,8-10am and the options were prepackaged and unappealing. I would not recommend this hotel.

Loved our stay at Black Forest. Cabin was very cozy and perfect for our night stay, wished we had more time on this trip. Comfy bed, fireplace and spa tub perfect for relaxing after a day outdoors. Perfect location that was a quick drive or walk to the Village. Property was very nice and staff was very friendly with any questions we had.

Nice staff, good location, ok breakfast. Very dated rooms- extremely noisy. Had to pay for an upgrade to get a kitchenette- Expedia description of the room I ordered was inaccurate.

We had the worst experience at this lodge last night. We were attending Puppotopia in Big bear for our puppy and booked a room for a night at this place, as we live 2 hours away in Castaic!
After checking in, we realized how small the ac unit was and how it wasn’t really cooling the room but we were only there for the night so we decided to suck it up and just follow through. From 7 pm to 10 pm, the unit above us kept making lots of noises and it was like so loud, felt like they were moving furniture and dribbling basketballs. My husband went to notify the front desk as there is no phone in this lodge … the lady upfront said she will check out what is going on upstairs but not sure if she did anything because noises didn’t stop.
Then to make things worse, the roof started leaking. We didn’t notice but when we checked in, there must have been a hole in the ceiling and around 1030 pm, water was dripping on the bed. My husband went again to the front desk, in hopes someone could come take a look and maybe move us to a diff cottage… do anything… but the lady upfront suggested ‘oh just move your bed’… she had no empathy, she didn’t have the decency to apologize or even try to help us. We asked if we could get a refund as now we will need to leave here, in the middle of the night and drive home which is 2 hours away. Her response was I am not authorized and thats it. No recommendations, no understanding of what was happening and no customer service whatsoever… worst experience!

The accommodation was so dirty and unsafe. The bed was covered with a blanket that made it clear that it had not been washed. The mattresses were hairy and furry, and I had to sleep on top of the blanket. I was angry that I came here after paying for it. The photos and explanations on the website are many wrong. We wasted the price of the room, but our condition was terrible because we couldn't sleep in an uncomfortable accommodation. We stopped taking our once-in-a-year vacation and came back home. I hope others don't make mistakes.

First room had no A/C. Second area looked at and $60.00 more no A/C, smells, very old, need painted.
Hot tub has sign no jets. Ased next day when are they getting fixed. Told that it hasn't worked in years...pool needs vacuumed. Area cleaned. Never be back or recommend.

Close to the downtown area and several restaurants. The rooms left a lot to be desired. The top bedding had what seemed to be sand on them, as well as the floors. The bed was extremely squeaky and the glass in the door allowed the light outside to come in, never allowing the room to be dark, so sleep was difficult. The towels were really old and worn. It wasn’t the most comfortable stay. Don’t get your hopes up over the continental breakfast.

We had amazing stay at this cute little cabin with a kitchenette and a jet tub that we enjoyed immensely. It was clean, comfortable and amazing.

The staff here was amazing. I arrived much earlier than planned. The staff work to get me into a room early and even upgraded the room for me. The location is coinvent and easy to find. With access to many great places in Big Bear. The room was comfortable and clean inside, although the patio area could have been cleaner. The only negative about the room was that the ceiling fan didn't work.

I want not told that there was no A.C. Until I signed in .had to pay extra for a portable unit , but did so because it was a heat wave
4.0
Listing showed individual cabins, but none were available when we showed up. Bed was very uncomfortable and with heat index over 100 and no A/C in the room, we decided to cut our vacation short and go back home. Hotel would not refund us, even though we checked out early (8am). Would not recommend this location during summer season.

Had so much fun. I love the set up of these little cabins

The cabin was nice, but I wouldn’t stay there again. It could use some TLC.

The slapped together state of the AC unit was disappointing and the microwave practically falling off the wall was hazardous at best. Loved the big tub.

The website said air conditioning in room. All I got was a box fan.

The front desk help was amazing

The cabin bed sheets were dirty.

Loved how friendly the staff were. Checkin and check out were easy. The room was spacious and had ample lighting. Loved that it was within walking distance to the village or the lakeside. Even though it was hot outside the room itself was cool since there was a ceiling and floor fan along with a pool to swim in onsite.

No air conditioning but otherwise it was a plesant experiance

This is a very dated property in need of rehab

I loved everything except for how the blinds were shorter than the windows .I felt like you could see in from the outside .

I liked the shade from all the trees & the little cabin atmosphere. Very relaxing!

Terrible mattresses

Staff is very friendly and helpful, the location is a plus too. However, the property itself needs some major improvements, room furniture was very old, bubbles in the jacuzzi weren’t working, breakfast options was very limited, and we found ants everywhere in the room.
