Good location, good food and friendly staff. Very quiet second week in June. The rooms are a bit lacklustre but are fine. Air conditioning wasn’t great. Everything else was great, would definitely return.

I booked this hotel for my parents and they realy like it. I was talking with stuff by mail and they regulary answered to me in short time. My parents don't speak english and because they arrived at late evening i asked hotel's stuff about taxi for them. They booked it and taxi come in right time and meet them with sign with their names. Also they said me they like hotel's buffet. They regulary called me by whatsup, so i find the inthernet was good. I highly recommend this place.

The staff were exceptionally helpful when I found I had some travel problems. The dinner and breakfast was of a high standard with very good service. Location was good.Modern bright and spotless.

We had a fantastic time here. The hotel has beautiful grounds and gardens with a huge swimming pool for the size of the hotel. There is a private gate to access the street down to the seafront which is less than three minutes away. The rooms are large, comfy and kept scrupulously clean. The bathrooms are glass fronted, which may be off-putting to some. Breakfast is excellent and varied. We ate once in the restaurant and were impressed. All in all, for a higher-end break, it is highly recommended.The local area is popular with domestic tourists (I think half of Barcelona has a villa here) and is bustling at weekends. The beaches are clean and have lifeguards. The town ones can be busy, but you can walk to deserted coves with turquoise sea easily. There are many good restaurants, a la carte prices are similar to higher-end UK restaurants, but you can get set menus for €20-30. The seafood is excellent quality.Local public transport isnt the best, we hired a car from Girona airport, which Id recommend as you can get out to many of the historic sights and towns in the area easily. Begur, Palafrugell, Palamos etc. Girona itself is an easy 40 minute drive away, and highly recommended.

The hotels situation is good, a few minutes walk to the sea front. The grounds and communal areas are pleasant. Breakfast is good and frequently replenished, although it is definitely self~service. However we paid a supplement for a side sea view and superior room and must have been allocated the worst room in the hotel and despite the fact that we emailed in advance requesting a good view we overlooked a dirty flaking wall shielding more than half the view Our room and particularly the bathroom bore no resemblance to those shown in the photos. We had to climb into the bath (with shower curtain) to use the an old shower rose. The hotel has chosen to refurbish the standard rooms first but continue to charge extra for a very old and shabby bedroom,bathroom and balcony. Despite asking to change rooms we were only offered one alternative the bathroom and view of which were worse than our allocated room. People were coming and going on a daily basis so we could have been moved. The hotel room spoiled our holiday and was not a true reflection of that advertised and totally overpriced.

The room could do with a kettle (for tea) rather than just a coffee machine

Other family members were on the other end closer to the bell tower and had trouble sleeping because of the bell tower chiming every 15 minutes. The outdoor pool was surprisingly big. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Alga is not directly located at the coast, but just a few min walk away. Some of the rooms offer a great view over the village to the sea / ocean. In general, the setup and interior of the hotel is very nice and comfortable. However, our check-in experience could have been more pleasant.

Everything was lovely. Service was impeccable and friendly. Room was beautiful and well laid out. Only concern was driving directions were virtually non existent. Address was impossible to put into gps without going around in circles. Wasted over two hours just trying to find the place. Address MUST be shown on web sites, including suburbs name and exactly how to enter address into gps. We finally ran into a kind, English speaking gentleman who literally led us to the hotel which was over ten miles from where we met him. Calling the hotel, which we did, received a very kind but unhelpful response, since they said that the address had changed recently.

Wonderful location excellent staff friendly and helpful

Family room was excellent. Very large and spacious for our family of four. Easy short walk down a well-paved road into a gorgeous little town and beach with harbor. Would highly recommend this town and this hotel. Hotel was very accommodating and knowledgeable for gluten-free concerns with our daughter who has celiac disease. We also found every restaurant we visited to have a very strong working knowledge to accommodate gluten-free needs.

Very nice hotel and staff. Beautiful pool but no towels left for us - seemed strange - and no offer to get us room towels to use. Lovely garden and easy walk to beach.

We had a newer room at Hotel Alga, which had a private deck. It was beautiful. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk to the town and the beach. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and they have a great, reasonably priced restaurant. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this spot.

Firstly, not 4* in my opinion. However, nothing to complain about- this is a small hotel in a great location. Area is full of local restaurants and lots of places to explore. Downside is a limited bar service but that might be due to timing- we were here at the end of May. Lovely reception staff and a warm welcome at 01:00! Would love to return!

Really nice hotel with super friendly staff who were without exception really happy to help everytime they were asked to. Very spacious lobby aea with plenty of quiet aeas to sit. The swimming pool and the area around it were really good with plenty of seating, including an outside eating aea. The only disappointing experience was our bedroom - black mould around the shower and noise from the corridor, beds looked really cheap but were surprisingly comfortable. The hotel is an easy stroll from the beach which is absolutely lovely.

Very good weather which helped make the holiday. Not sure how it would have been if the weather was poor as there did not seem to be much alternative entertainment.

Excellent hotel in all aspects. Of course it helps to be in a wonderful location like the Costa Brava in Spain. Breakfasts were phenomenal. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the reception staff spoke English very well. The gardens and pool area were very clean and well cared for. For two days of our stay at the hotel, we didn't go to the beach at all but stayed around the pool area and soaked up the sun.
