Some of the best hospitality we have ever experienced. This stay was one to remember. I guarantee you wont find a cleaner place. The grounds are its own botanical garden. I stood in the same place in the garden and just stared for half an hour straight. We will be back!

It was amazing! There was a large supply of food for breakfast that lasted for 3 mornings. The landscapeing was fantasticly beautful. It was close to the town, Volcano, with two good restaurants and a general store for necessities. The cabin was also well stocked with natural history, geology, and local informational materials. The kids really liked that... and the flashlights. It was very nice to chat with Barry and get some of his and the cabin's story. We'd definitely recommend this place!

Rustic charm, but served up with care. Notes provided around the place stayed one step ahead of my need. Conveniently close to Vocanoes Nat’l Park and restaurants, but the standout was the beautiful garden surroundings. Very different from rest of the island. Would definitely stay again when visiting the park.

This was the MOST charming property I've ever visited. Barry and Jim were the most incredible hosts. From the start of the communication where Jim provided maps and communication to ensure we knew how to find the cabin, to the easy and meaningful conversation with Barry, we felt welcomed and more like friends. The cabin was spotless--seriously. There was not a speck of dust to be found. There was bread, eggs, milk, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast which was fantastic. The grounds were so beautiful with so many colorful flowers. At night, you could see the glow from the nearby erupting volcano from the bedroom, and it was beautiful. The location was perfect to access the National Park. I loved, loved, loved this cabin and Jim and Barry. I can't recommend it enough.

We absolutely loved this cabin. The hosts Barry and Jim are helpful and very appreciative. The surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Beautiful flowers everywhere. The weather was perfect. Cool days and nights get chilly. Very close To the Volcanoes National Park. Lava flows and billions of stars to gaze At. Would definitely stay here again. Crater Rim Cabin is a fantastic place to stay. It is just minutes away from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park making it one of the most convenient places in the area. The cabin itself is amazing. It’s clean and has everything you need, including a kitchenette. The property is gorgeous. And the owners are amazing. They are so friendly and helpful. They provided us with a ton of information for our stay and the area in general. We would absolutely recommend Crater Rim Cabin to anyone looking for a place to stay on Big Island, especially if you’re looking to stay near the volcanoes.

We were lucky enough to see the orange volcano glow from the back window. You can’t stay closer unless you are in the park (and I chose this cabin over the military cabins). This cabin was built in the 40s by a geologist. In addition to everything else, it’s architecture was worth the stay. So many reasons this was a great choice - we just didn’t stay long enough!

We wish we’d stayed here longer: a lovely, well-appointed cabin in beautiful grounds right next to Volcanoes National Park. The owners are wonderful and anticipated everything needed for a comfortable stay. We’ll be back.

A really terrific spot right on the edge of Volcanoes National Park. Wonderfully located deep in the woods. Despite the challenges of a rare and destructive storm, our hosts were unfailingly upbeat and helpful. The cabin was charming and cozy, clean, and chock full of essentials and treats.

What a delightful experience. Crater Rim Cabin was warm and inviting and the surrounding area was beautiful. It was the perfect location for exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the surrounding area. The hosts were amazing. Highly recommend!!

The cabin was amazing. A beautiful property in a convenient location if you want to check out Volcanoes National Park, or even Hilo. We loved the DVDs about the last volcano eruption and Polynesian culture that were available. Everything in the cabin was very thoughtfully placed and useful. Really a great place to stay!

The best place we stayed at in the Hawaii Volcanoes area! Serene, peaceful and beautiful! Accomodations was awesome! The cabin was super clean! We highly recommend this cabin!

We LOVED our stay at the Crater Rim Cabin! The cabin is beautiful, roomy, well-appointed and romantic . . . a really unique place. We appreciated so many things about it: attractive living spaces, the easy-to-operate fireplace, helpful materials, and many thoughtful touches. From all the rooms, there are views of the beautiful grounds surrounding the cabin. Given its restful surroundings, it is surprisingly convenient . . . just 2.5 miles from the park entrance and visitor center and close to the town of Volcano for dining options. Our hosts, Jim and Barry, were excellent: knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. From detailed information on the volcanos (they are geologists) to great touring tips and dining recommendations, they were superb. The Crater Rim Cabin is a very special place and we feel very lucky to have found it.

The place is only a few minutes away from Volcano National Park by car. Awesome hosts (both Jim and Barry) with great hospitality. A well designed and decorated cabin great value to stay for a few nights there.

If you are hesitating to book the Crater rim cabin, please, don't wait another second. We stayed here for 2 weeks in August and we are absolutely happy about our choice. Renting a jeep , we were able to go on adventures all over the island, while coming back at night to cook supper and enjoy the cabin. On the days we wanted to take it easy, we could spend some peaceful time in the charming garden. The Cabin is situated at an ideal location to visit the volcano park and close enough to the main road for easy access, while offering privacy and tranquility. It is exceptionally comfortable. Jim and Barry are as hospitable as could be, they provided us with everything we needed for a wonderful stay. There were many books and pamphlet available to read up and plan your vacation, and if you need advice, the hosts are more than happy to guide you. The nights do get a bit chilly outside, but all the comfort of a warm bed and the coziness of a gas fireplace will provide you with a restful atmosphere. Even now, we still feel like it was our home away from home, in this little paradise. We will always hold dear the memories have made there, if we can , we will definitely be back.

There were thoughtful touches everywhere-fresh flowers, food stocked in the refrigerator, and a beautiful garden to walk in and enjoy

Don't hesitate to book a stay at this wonderful cottage! We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it, the facility was very clean, comfortable, and full of charm. The host (Barry) who showed us around was very welcoming and informative, and clearly takes well-earned pride in the ownership and superior upkeep of the cottage. Next time we'll book a longer stay here, it is a very relaxing environment and just a stone's throw from the entrance to Volcano National Park which is home to the natural wonders of Kilauea.
