The hotel was conveniently located to restaurants and the Civic Center.
The room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was really good… nice variety.

Staff was great! My room 314 was nice with a balcony facing the river. However i woke up with a spider crawling above me on the ceiling.

We enjoyed our visit! This is our second time staying. The first was a couple, the second was as a family. We liked our room with a balcony and the view of the river. Great location & breakfast. Only point of concern would be that half of the jets in the hot tub didn't work.

My stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites, downtown Des Moines, IA was very nice! I honestly don't remember the time I've had a better nights sleep at a hotel. Staff was very welcoming and professional and will most definitely stay here again!

We reserved a King suite. When we checked in nothing was said about the room. When we got to the room and when we got to the room it was a double. When I called the front desk about it I was told we were switched because they didn’t have a king suite even though we reserve one. Again, nothing was said to us when we checked in.

King bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff member Emily was very helpful. Good location close to East Village. Easy garage parking.
No USB charging points in room. No shelves or drawers in bathroom and limited towel rails. Limited storage for clothes etc, in room. Had to point out twice that room thermostat needed replacing. Room door was very difficult to open after being unlocked.

The staff at check in wasn’t very welcoming, and breakfast staff was shutting the doors on guests several minutes prior to breakfast ending, so it didn’t seem as though the staff appreciated their customers. Our room was also not as clean as I’d expect, with popcorn and chunks of food in the corners.

Our shower wouldn’t warm up. They told us someone would come check it out in 30 minutes. We finally got it to get somewhat warm enough to take a quick shower.

Everything was very clean and useable. We had a handicapped shower in our room. When taking a shower, water went everywhere. Not anyone's fault for that. Just a a hassle to clean up after a long day.

We were in town for a concert at the state fair. Check in & check out was easy. Only thing was the eggs were cold at breakfast & the parking garage had very tight spaces and didn’t flow very well.

We had a dog next door, didn't hear the dog at all at night. Very quiet!!

Rooms were clean, staff was helpful and kids enjoyed the pool area while we also enjoyed the outdoor patio

Property itself was nice and the customer service was adequate, however we do have one major issue. My girlfriend and I spent one night and about 36 hours after coming home we both noticed we have small bug bites that look like bed bugs. This is not very good for the price we paid we thought we would get better. It's a shame, we would probably stay there again, everything else about the river view suite is worth it.
