The front desk guy was relatedt to the grinch. That says it all.

Pros: convenient for mass transit. Clean and upgraded bathroom. No bugs.
Cons: dirty carpet, thin pillows and towels.
As a smoker I expect my rooms to be kind of shabby so I can’t judge much there, but the carpet is so dirty that I had to walk in my sandals or socks to avoid dirty feet and that’s always pretty gross. For the crappy neighborhood, it felt safe enough and was pretty quiet. I think if someone is okay with lower quality but nothing majorly negative then this place is fine but most people would probably want to pay more for a decent hotel.

It was not listed that we have to bring cash to pay a deposit and that we cannot pay the room on a credit card. Very strange. We ended up having to find another hotel do to the inconvenience. I BETTER NOT GET CHARGED!!!!

I like the vintage vibe

You need $100 cash for a deposit. Who carries cash anymore?
If you keep your car there past checkout, you will pay anything between $20-40 extra, depending on how they fee. And you won't get a receipt.
Lost my keycard and that is a $10 fee.
Location is close to BART, but the service is pretty horrible.

Good:
1. Room was decent enough for one night. The room was cozy. It had a frig and microwave along with toiletries.
2. The location to public transport. The motel is two blocks from Lake Merrit Bart and only a few blocks from Amtrak.
Not so good
1. Homeless trash pile outside on the road. I totally get it as it’s Oakland but still not the most welcoming.
2. There is a cash deposit of $100 upon arrival. You can still pay the reservation with credit card.
3. Since it’s next to the freeway it can be noisy.
Good enough for a night or two.
3.4
Fair price. Despite being next to the freeway, it was pretty quiet. Friendly staff. Area is not great, its Oakland after all.
3.4
The property is nestled next to the freeway. Using the car to drive to this property is inconvenient both for the freeway and the local streets. The management will take a bank card to pay for the room, however will only except cash payment for the room deposit, which is stupid.

Nice

The price is reasonable. The room was very quiet. The shower is good condition.
3.4
The staff are very nice and helpful, the location is two blocks from BART and within walking distance of Chinatown and the Jack London Square area. On Sundays, the Laney Flea Market is literally across the street, so that was neat too.
3.4
This motel is on the smaller side but the friendliness of the staff along with a clean room overshadows the size. A coffee maker and microwave were included. It's unfortunate that I couldn't take complete advantage. due to a family emergency I had the room for less than 6 hours.
3.4
Blood on the walls and rude service and tried to say leaves from my shoes coming inside the room and out I left it dirty I double check with them inside and they told me never mind
3.4
There was loud night construction nearby but that isn’t the motel’s fault. It is also a very rough neighborhood but I knew that beforehand and don’t mind personally. The cable didn’t work except for one channel. That should be fixed.
3.4
This is a clean, well lit budget property. The room was very clean and the shower was hot. This is the kind of place where you need a clean place to sleep, don't need amenities, want to support a small business and don't get too upset about the run down areas of Oakland.
3.4
I didn't expect much from this property, but for $90 a night, I thought it would be in better condition. The door fit so poorly that it sounded like it was open. The freeway and nearby train are incredibly noisy. Bathroom was OK.

Forced to walk in cold and rain to an atmto get a $100.oo cash deposit. I refused to pay a deposit that wasin no way indicated as a requirement at time of purchase. I am trying to file a real complaint for the whole ordeal of booking with Hotel.com
3.4
Neighborhood is terrible and unsafe and staff were not friendly. We were staying 3 nights and there was only 1 coffee bag. When I requested more coffee they gave me 1 and said they didn't have more
3.4
The staff it’s very rude the owner/employee ask you for $100 depocit ONLY CASH without giving you a receipt, I have to go to the airport very early on my checkout day and I have to knock the service door to be able to collect my cash depocit, the guy was really mad, also they don’t bother to collect the dirty towels every day you have to go to the office and ask for fresh ones while exchanging the dirty ones, it’s a total hassle and the room was very dusty and have a very bad smell, the place looks decent but once you enter to the room specially at night it’s infestated with cockroaches at night they are all over the place, the door knobs where very dirty I have to up clean and sanitize the room myself in the fist night to feel staying ove there for 3 nights and 4 days!
3.4
The carpet was extremely dirty, towels had stains on them, blankets have holes on them. The fridge wasn’t cooling properly, the location is very sketchy. Most importantly, it’s overpriced!!!
3.4
The receptionist is really helpful and nice person. The room is clean. Towels quantities may be increased. The area is not a good place I can say this. Too much noise coming from the street. Loud car listening loud music in the middle of night. People were screaming on the street.
3.4
They open my door for no reason when i was naked ! A guy with some keys open my door without any knocking! The guy next room kept yelling all night like a lil kid ! Someone knock on my door and run away when i open ,all this in one day!
3.4
Run down hotel, room has mold stench, and extremely rude customer service. I would never stay at this trash hotel again and the dilapidated building should be demolished.
3.4
The lady at the desk wouldn't check me in without cash. No debit services and wanted me to walk a couple blocks to an atm to walk the cash back to her. It was unprofessional and not a quality place to be.

I am disabled and walking up and down stairs was very difficult

It was nice having a fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker in the room. I didn't like that they wanted an undisclosed $100 cash deposit in addition to my credit card in order for me to get my room.
3.4
This place is under the freeway in a bad area of Oakland, and requires a $100 CASH ONLY deposit. I didn't have cash so I asked if I could use a credit card but they refused. I promptly left to find another place. No need to stay here, sketchy service.
3.4
on line it was listed as no cash deposit required, but at check in front desk wouldn't even look up the confirmation number without $100 cash deposit
3.4
The room is furbished with mini-fridge, microwave and coffee make and coffee supplies.
Friendliness of staff, attention to clients were nowhere to find. They made us feel like they are looking down on their guests.
Every guest was required to leave $ 100 deposit for incidental and damage in CASH which is hardly a common practice in motels and lodges in big cities and requirement that it has to be in cash could put some of the guests in distress.
Deposit is released to you upon check out and after physical inspection by the hotel personnel making the guests feel ackward and looking suspicious when there should be no reason to. Credit/debit card itself used to reserve the room should be sufficient.

This one is was terrible service bad experience I have on my life in mys trips

Terrible place to stay. Looks like it is in the middle of a very unsafe area even though it advertises as part of Chinatown but just a feew blocks away buut a world of difference. Didn't even stay there because felt so unsafe and looked like a very poor apartment building with flimsy locks, not friendly proprietor (who was behind bars on window behind check in counter). Had to pay an extra $230 to double book at another property but even though expensive to do, thought, what is the price of life!! Definitely DO NOT STAY here
3.4
Area was not good but near BART and that was important. A Safe would be needed in Rooms, bad area! Rooms could be friendlier! People were nice

Staff is always friendly and helpful. Less than 10 minute walk to Lake Merritt Bart station, as well as Jack London Square Amtrak station. Also close to great food spots and bars.

CCL has a great location near 880, Alameda tunnel, Lake Merritt and LM Bart. The rooms are a great price, with cherry wood furniture, a flat screen TV, a fridge (great for long stays) and a shower with a tub where you can fill it with hot water and epson salts and actually stretch out. My room had a kitchenette (sink and counter space) a small table with two chairs and a desk, so relatively big sized room. The only ofd thing was that from my room, I keep thinking someone was vacuuming at odd hours, when it was 880 traffic.
I stayed a week, and the staff look at you with a bit of suspicion, but they warm up. To be fair I have stayed in other hotels where people need to constantly be in the hallway having yelling matches, so they have probably been burned by guests before. It's just culturally noticeable, and at the other places I have stayed, where when you check in, they look at you, they look at the ID, look at you, the ID again, the several minutes at the screen,
