This is the second time we have stopped here. Last time, great - no problems, but this time was awful. We arrived very late (06:00) due to delays. Check-in was fine as the day shift had started work! When we opened the room door, we were greeted with the most awful reek of cigarettes. The room just stank☹️. Obviously the hotel staff were aware of the problem as the window was left wide open. I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if we had checked in the day before and the window had not been open for many hours…….
Breakfast was OK, but not as good as last time, with very little food available- and no croissants!
The staff were friendly and welcoming, but we could have done without the “filthy old ashtray” atmosphere in the room. We had just travelled 400 miles and taken a ferry - all we wanted was a sleep in a clean and fresh smelling room!

Toilets and Bath rooms are common and shareable by all guests. It would be great if each room has private one.

The hotel was clean. It seemed as if the showers and toilets had been renovated and were clean and presentable. The room was very hot and stuffy. There are no towels provided and you have to make up your own bed when you get there.

The check in process was horrendous - apparently i was 80 cents short despite prepaying. Having then paid this, the member of staff walked off leaving us standing in reception waiting. After 10 mins i tracked him down to get our room key. There were no room keys and actually an entry code, which was not shown to me. When given this, it didn't work. 15 mins later he came back with a key to open the door. The whole check in process took 1 hour!No towels supplied, which wasn't mentioned at the time of booking and to use the showers, there's a limited time frame to use them - WE LEFT as soon as we could the next morning!

The F1 properties are starting to show their age now, and this is no exception. Although the room was OK, the arrangement with the toilets and showers located opposite the lobby is far from satisfactory. These pre-built cubicles are small, uncomfortable, and poorly vented so, after a shower, it is very difficult to dry oneself properly. On the plus side, the location was convenient for a motorcycle tourist, with a fuel station and supermarket in close proximity. No restaurant within walking distance though.

This was an adequate F1, in pretty good condition, the rooms were very clean, and the showers etc in good condition too. Its probably one of the best F1s I've stayed in, but its an F1 so it wont get more that adequate. They now sell you towels, which is an annoyance.

Clean rooms, lots of phone chargers, and everything else you might want for a cheap price

We booked this because we were traveling from Dunkirk to Zurich and needed a place to sleep and Chamont was roughly midpoint and this hotel seemed adequate for a stopover. However, I would not recommend this hotel.
The rooms have strong smell of cigarettes and felt quite dusty.
There were 4 of us traveling, 2 adults one child (3 yrs) and one infant (one year old). On arrival we were told only max 3 people can sleep in one room so after a long conversation we were forced to book a second room. We ended up sleeping in one bedroom which had more than enough space for our little family.
Service was extremely poor!

The hotel had no receptionist on arrival and we had to wait around for a woman to appear after 10 mins or so of not knowing what to do. On entry to the hotel, it stunk of cigarettes and general uncleanness. The room was small and covered in dust. It looked like it had not been hovered in months. We were there with our little dog. Neither myself nor my partner or dog could stop itching and scratching all night. Im fairly certain that the room needs fumigation and a good clean to get rid of whatever bed bugs may have been in there. It was more like a hostel for homeless people. The mattress was also rock hard. The reason we booked here was that it was cheap and it was only for a one night stop in our way to the South of France. With hindsight, wed have been better off sleeping in the car. The only benefit is that it cost me no more than £26 for the awful experience.

The Formule 1 hotel provides as expected: a basic night but good value for money, very good for a no-frills stop whilst on a long trip. One key advantage is that there is a reception 24 hours a day, a really pleasant lady welcomed me at 2:30 AM, an ran an efficient check-in. Note you will likely need to pay the local tax, not included in most quotes, this usually amount to a fraction of an Euro or so, (1% of the stay) so no big deal.Rooms are classic, cleaner than other Formule 1, no toilet in the room but a small vanity unit, and you may want to take your own towel. It was quiet (not too much noise) despite being full.Wifi is provided and good enough to stream. On the downside, the lighting in the room is quite harsh. Location is just outside of the city centre, as Chaumont is a small city, it should suit most circumstances. It is easily approached from the motorway, avoiding the city. I was last one in and found some free car parking on site.In conclusion, you get a basic night (as you expect with Formule 1), with the added bonus of nice staff.

Positives first, good location for stop over and China Wok opposite ideal for a quick meal after arriving we’ll into evening. Parking ample but not gated. Staff friendly and welcoming, BUT the rooms though seemed clean smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke, the bed was hard and uncomfortable and the next door room occupants sat on their window sill smoking and talking loudly til early hours- it was hot (not hotels fault) which meant had to have windows opens all in all we got no sleep -a nightmare when you have a long drive the next day. Stayed in many of these transit hotels and I’m afraid this was my worse experience to date. No towels in this one either and was the communal shower and loo type. A deep clean, new beds and a better smoking policy could make a big difference!
