It's historic. Living off that charm without actually being charming. Clean but not in great condition. Amenities lacking, as was breakfast (although a voucher was provided for use on a limited menu at cafe next door that did not have great reviews).Took 30 minutes to check in with no queue.

It’s good it have free tea, coffee and hot water.
Very convenient to restaurant and super market.

Parking was street parking only and the parking "designated" by the hotel was all taken because it was free street parking for many businesses. We were able to find parking but it was a walk with our luggage. Staff was efficient but dismissive. Could hear every conversation of neighboring rooms.

I know this is a historic hotel but the men I walked in it was dark and dingy the red carpet on the floor look like it needed cleaning steam cleaning and had an odor. My room had a bathroom, but that room smell too carpets look dirty, and didn’t wanna walk, barefoot Would not stay there again

This area demands high cost.
The first morning there was a lot noise at 0600.
The 2nd and 3rd mornings it was very quiet.
Bathroom small.
Staff was nice

Very historical which was great but needs some deep cleaning. Spent 2 nights and bed wasn’t made for us on return from our day out on day 2 and had to request clean towels. We didn’t feel we should have to make that request at that price point of hotel rate. Breakfast was very good at restaurant next door.

Do not stay here! Great location and the gent that checked me in (white hair and beard) was great in every way. No one else was. One female said her family had owned the hotel since 1958 (job security?) be described by words not appropriate here. The second morning (departure) I saw a note stuck under my wiper to stay parked because they sealed the road. i showed her and asked why they had not told me. Note when we got back the prior afternoon the tour bus dropped us off at the front door. Initially she claimed no knowledge whatsoever and suggested I talk to the “boys in blue” across the street. They told me every business there had been informed. When I went back and told her she did not contest what I said but implied I was a dummy for not noting there was a sign at every street corner warning of this. So riddle me this, how did she go from knowing nothing to knowing there was a sign on every corner, “if only I knew how to read.” She continued to be combative and denying any responsibility to inform her customers throughout the rest of the conversation. This time she followed me out and commented why I was the only car there. There were other cars further down the block and a number of parking places not sealed visibly showing there had been a car there when the work was done. When I said that she said something like she sure hoped I learned how to read. As I left I said I would never be back and she replied ‘just go home.” A job/company dependent upon tourism behaves so?

The place was fun to stay. Extremely friendly and caring staff. However, one minor thing is the tv. I wish they had smart tv which we could have hooked up with our own shows. Location is very conveniently close to the park entrance. Overall we enjoyed our stay quite a bit.

What a fantastic place to stay! We loved how old and beautiful this place is. 112 years old and it’s still standing. There is just so much character here. And the staff were so friendly. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. The restaurant next door is also great!

This was the first time I went to Yellowstone, it was the perfect hotel, right by the entrance of the park. Plenty of wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Our room was large, clean and the beds were very comfortable

This is a 112 year old building. It reminded me of something right out of an old western movie. Our room was small but we had our own bathroom and a king size bed which was very comfortable. The man at the front desk was very nice and very informative about the area. He gave us coupons to save money on our meal at the restaurant next door and free passes to the rodeo that was just outside of town. I loved this historic motel hotel and would absolutely stay here again!!

This hotel was by far the best my husband and i stayed at! The bed was comfortable, the room was spectacular, and to top it off we got a $10 coupon to go towards a breakfast, lunch or dinner meal at the cafe right next door! Also we got to use a season pass to the west yellowstone rodeo on our last night in the area which was so much fun!!! We def will be back one of these days! Also i loved the staff they tell you to leave your petsonal bedding in your car & if you need extra pillows or blankets all u have to do is ask for more and they are all over getting more to you quick and efficiently!!! If i could give these guys 100 stars id totally do it!!! Then to top it off they are not far from yellowstone and omg that is must see!!! We got to see old faithful go off and it was gorgeous!!!!!

This is a historic hotel in the most authentic way. Built in 1912 it is not bright & cheery like our more modern hotels. Rooms are small. No microwave, refrigerator or TV. Needs some TLC. HOWEVER, if you want to stay in a place that has a great location, is very unique & interesting, clean rooms, good bed and very friendly people this is the
place for you. I will always remember this place & would definitely stay there again.

This property would not be for a large family. Small room, old but quaint facility in the Hotel part which is over a gift shop. Motel section from outside looked kind of iffy, but really don’t know about interior. Parking for Hotel was on street but at the time we were there had ample parking right next to hotel. We liked the small quaint feel, but probably not for everyone. Our room had just a soak tub - no shower, however there were shared shower facilities on the floor which were clean and secure with locks. Lig canin feel once in room. No TV- we didnt care. Shared refrig and microwave area if needed but not in room. (no elevator 2 story. We didnt care)

A wood building over 100 years old is quite an experience.
So many creaks and groans, almost haunted.
Did not really know what to expect, but truly enjoyed seeing how they lived over 100 years ago.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Coffee and coco all day.

This is an unusual place to stay, but staff are quite friendly. We appreciated the complementary $10 cards for the Timberline Cafe. Very creaky floors and doors and the stairs are not meant for anyone with limited mobility.

We wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the hotel and the surrounding town. The lobby area is so fun and the gift shop is the best in town. We appreciated the hot water/coffee/tea/chocolate service, the ice, and the use of the refrigerator/freezer very much!! The restaurant next door, Timberline, was decent - salad bar and pies!! The little coffee stand was delicious and had huckleberry ice cream!

Excellent location for Yellowstone. Close to the west gate.
3.0 / 5.0
Note that when selecting a room at the Madison Hotel, that choosing the tv and fridge option puts you in the motel portion of the property, in the back, next to an alley. The room was clean (most important), but very small and a bit rough. Parking is tight. If you're traveling in an RV, forget about it. Those use to marriott's will be disappointed, but the historic lobby is worth a look.

Rude unprofessional old and unsafe and don’t like children with a lot of stupid rules.
