The smell of cumin filled the hallways. Clean, fresh paint, but very dated!

The first room we checked into was unclean, we were given a second room which was worse than the first, dirty linens and trash, beds unmaid , it had not been touched except for dirty linen on floor! We did get a third room after the desk clerk first inspected it. It was clean, could have been better. We will not recommend this Hotel to anyone! This is the first bad experience we have had using Hotels.com

Room was not clean. Hair in sink and shower. Rug in room did not appear to have been cleaned. No remote when we came into the room. Trying to get 1 was difficult. Asked for remote around 5 in the afternoon and did not get one till after 8 in the evening. Staff was friendly.

Had to call for towels for our room, then had to get them ourselves. Stayed for a few days, and they never cleaned the room.

Requested a ground floor room because my wife has difficulty with stairs. Request was ignored and there are no elevators. As we were leaving on checkout day, my wife fell on the stairs. Luckily, she was not hurt badly, just a bruised knee and ego. No offer of any compensation.

The beds were clean. The rest of the room was not very clean. The bathtub had mold. There was quite a bit of hair in the bathroom. Our room had a terrible odor. The pool is not the greatest for a person with mobility issues.

Upon check-in to our room, we soon discovered our TV did not work at all and the Wi-Fi was barely working for minutes at a time. I called down to the front desk, and housekeeping was supposed to come but never did. We left for dinner, came back, and still the TV was not working. We walked down to the front desk and were told there would be no maintenance until the following day. We were told we could change rooms which is highly inconvenient at 9:30 p.m. and add to the fact my husband is disabled. But we did so because my husband enjoys watching TV at night to fall asleep. Well, we had tv but the mattress in this room was horrible! It belongs in the dumpster. All night we rolled to the edges like we were going to fall off. Plus the room smelled old and musty. It doesn't end there. The pool that this hotel boasts about was not even open for Memorial Day Weekend. It's locked up and no chairs to speak of. FALSE ADVERTISING. If they do not intend to open their pool until a certain date than they should place that information on their website. It was eighty-degree weather, people wanted to swim, but could not. The three days we were there we honestly never saw a housekeeping cart. So no fresh towels, coffee, toilet paper, etc. I have never been to a hotel where there is no housekeeping. Lastly, their Tiki Lounge is a joke I have no clue why other reviewers are saying it's a fun spot. It's a dark and gloomy, place! When we looked in there on a Saturday night it was dead.

The front desk person was awesome and helped every way he could.. The dryers dont work very well but other than that i loved the stay and loved the tiki bar

It's convenient and cheap

The service was horrible. The room was disgustingly dirty. The microwave and fridge were gross. Everything was old. I was too afraid to open the bed or use the shower.the advertised lounge was closed. I booked handicap and had an up the stairs room.

We always enjoy staying at the Southgate Hotel in Cambridge. It's an affordable hotel and always clean.

We had a great stay. Room was very nice. The woman at the front desk was so sweet, and help full. We're already planning our stay for next year.

Grew up in this town and this hotel has been around a long time. My class reunion was held here so I booked a room. The check in process and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. Not many electrical outlets for charging. The biggest issue is that it’s very dated and had a bit of deferred maintenance. My bathroom door actually had a fist hole punch in it. The staff at the tiki bar were great.

Can walk to eateries.

The biggest problem is that it is very dated. It smelled musty and every time the air conditioning came on the smell of old air filter.

Did an amazing job

I liked the pool. Did not like our bathroom the bathtub had rust all around the inside and the vent in the bathroom had paint chipping off. The blankets was very old and the bed was very hard. They charged me $64.00 over the said amount for bed tax. They need to really update their rooms. Glad i only stayed one night there and then went to a nicer hotel for two days. We'll never stay there again. I do not recommend 😐

The hotel was a bit dated and not the cleanest. There was spash marks on he cleaning and wall .The microwave didn't work. The pool and fitness center seemed desent..Had alot of fun at the tiki bar. There was a dj and we met alot of cool people

hotel was ok but it was outdated the bar is closed until Wednesday their was some gun shots around midnight so didn't sleep a whole lot their is a lot of people just wondering around outside at nights if your on a budget it will get the job done but i would recommend probably just going somewhere else

The host/desk clerk was very cordial. Everything went well. I slept well.

Great place to stay, ample parking with many food options within walking distance. Pool is very clean as well as the grilling area out back.

Staff was very helpful and maid service was great. Tv had no movie channels at all and every other station had no sound.

The desk staff were so kind and sweet, they were very helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The Tiki Lounge was a blast. I would absolutely stay there again (but will book directly through them as it is MUCH cheaper that way).

Overall it was a good stay

This is an older property, but everything was clean. They have updated carpeting and a few things. The bath area had rust stains in the tub, maybe they have real hard water not sure. But still it was clean and we felt safe in the area.
