I came here with my daughter for her 16th birthday. This hotel is amazing!! We felt very safe. So close to Time Square. Short walk to Radio City to see the Rockettes. The room was beautiful and the view was amazing!! Great water pressure in the showers and hot water never ran out. Very friendly staff!! Very accommodating when we needed to extend our check out time. The two restaurants next door were so good! We didnt have a chance to eat in the hotel because of timing but the restaurants looked and smelled amazing!! I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We will for sure be back again!

Terrible customer service, forgot two large important textbooks in the room needed for the following day, called 4 hours later and it took 3-4 calls and a lot of back and forth until finally got a hold of the manager on duty who told me nothing can be found in the room and that no one can check right away until the current guest checks out. I guess asking them to make a quick call and ask the guest to take a look at the shelf was too much to ask. In addition, this is a party hotel. We were on the 23rd floor and the music from the bar on the 27th floor was heard until 2 am. I couldn’t sleep until it was over. This hotel left a bad impression for us. Wouldn’t return.

It’s a well decorated hotel and they did their best to maximize space in the cozy queen room, but they really should include housekeeping every day at no extra charge considering the shower floods the bathroom floor and you have to use all your towels to dry the floor and then the towels never dry.
The bed is a bit hard as well.
There was a ball of hair in the shower when i arrived and a long black hair in the bed- they gave me a $75 f&b credit but I had to use it all at once so I got an omelette and left $25 for the tip even though my server basically forgot I existed.
Other than those issues, it’s a pretty boutique hotel!

Room was extremely small. No place to store luggage, shoes, items except undergarments and 2 coats/jackets. This hotel room would have been fine for a lone traveler with very minimal baggage. The elevator situation was horrible during the evening. They block of two of the larger elevators for restaurant guests, and leave the extremely small elevator for hotel guests who are paying 1000’s to stay. The hotel was pretty, the staff was nice, but for two girls traveling with 2 suitcases and 2 overnight bags, it was extremely tight. Would only recommend if traveling alone and not going out after 10.

The hotel is stylish in moody colors. My room had two twin sized beds, which was perfect for me and my friend. Bed was very comfortable. The design of the room maximized storage space like a cruise ship. Extra towels and toilet paper were provided. We had a city view of 42nd Street. Room was 95% quiet-can hear faintly sirens and beats from their club. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. The restaurant in the hotel had excellent food. There is no lobby/lounge space to hang out in- only to transit in and out. Highly recommended, I would stay here again.

Fabulous hotel, room very comfortable for single occupant. Large comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with shower. Perfect base for exploring New York. Very central location and wonderful view. Rooftop bar was great location for a pre theatre cocktail.

Went to NYC for an overnight trip to see a couple shows. The hotel staff was great, the rooms (and beds) were comfortable and decorated nicely. The location was also good, close enough to the theaters but out of the fray. I would definitely stay here again.

The roof top bar has a $100 minimum past a certain hour. As a person traveling alone, I could not get a drink at the hotel without spending a lot of money.

The staff were amazing - I got to hotel a few hours early hoping to leave my bags and my room was ready and they let me check in early.
Great location to get around town.
The rooms are perfect with loads of great storage spaces so you don’t clutter the room up!
Whenever you get back to hotel the reception team are so friendly.

This is a very convenient hotel with a great rooftop bar and free jazz several nights a week. We were thrilled to be able to check in early. Our only issue was the lack of hot water in our shower; however in checkout the hotel manager gave us a generous bill discount and offer to provide upgrades on a future visit. We were very grateful and will return.

We were on 23rd floor, so we could hear the music of the nightclub (a few floors up) until 2 am. Not ideal. Rooftop bar was very cool!

I love this hotel. Loaded with charm and right in the middle of everything, especially if you’re in NYC to see shows. Excellent service and attention to small details of your stay. The only drawback is there is not much space to put your things. It was just me on a 3 night trip and I struggled to put my clothes somewhere. They could have put some cute shelves on a blank wall and kept the charm of the room and give a place to set your clothes and things. Fabulous hotel though!

The Civillian is a nicely refurbished hotel close to all New York has to offer. The room was a bit small & the elevator a tad slow & cramped. While the room was small it was nice. The staff could not have been nicer. A great find only minutes from Times Square.

Such a cute spot. Everything was perfectly decorated and the staff was helpful and friendly. Very close to everything you want to see in the city. It had a modern Gen Z who loves the 1920’s vibe.

Room was clean and modern.
The light in the bathroom would not turn on without having a master switch on, which was near the room entrance which made it a little difficult using bathroom during the night. Other guests were noisy late at night. The TV did not work but turned off. When I followed the screen's directions on how to use it, it shut itself off. I did not feel the number of texts they sent me during my stay was necessary. The text asking me to specify when I would check out could have been worded more as a reminder about checkout time.

Disappointed. For a 4 star hotel and price point I was expecting more.
Pro’s: Location is good, staff is friendly and the hotel design is cool. Roof top restaurant was also nice.
Con’s: Room was extremely small, even by NY standards. No closet or hanging space, there was literally ONE drawer. Music in the hotel bar is super loud, which makes it difficult to sleep before 2am. The cherry on top for me was that the “included basis housekeeping” was a clean set of towels and throwing out the trash. The bed wasn’t even made, forget about a change of sheets or a clean bathroom. You needed to pay extra for that, which for a $300 plus a night I didn’t appreciate.
In short, there are plenty of other hotels in the area and at a similar price point that offer more spacious, clean and quiet rooms.
