Clean room and bathroom.
Bed uncomfortable.
Food nice and service really good throughout. Poor nights sleep though as party on til 12.30 am and we would have probably chosen another place to stay if we knew that a function was being held so late.

A good place to stay when visiting Dover. Lots of people use it for the port. We used it to visit the castle and Battke of Britain memorial. Parking is a bit tight in the car park so we used the road. Breakfast is good and food options in the evening also good. Room has everything you need and is cosy.

Room was clean and tidy and looked to have been recently renovated to a good standard. Nice big shower and lots of hot water, always the sign of a good hotel room. Plenty of nice fluffy towels, but lacking a towel rail next to the hand basin (a cheap and quick fix there).
Bed was comfortable, however a nice bed topper would be a lovely touch.
Room was missing a small waste bin, a couple of coat hooks on the hanging rail would be especially useful. (again a cheap and quick fix). Having twin USB points on both sides of the bed with twin 13amp sockets and good free Wfi was a nice touch.
We had room 5 and from the little we saw of other rooms, I think it was the best one.
As mentioned, we could not fault the cleanliness of the bedroom or the bathroom and towels and bedlinen perfect (well done there).
one small niggle, the kettle and coffee maker were on one of the bedside tables and took up most of the table top. A small console table, like the one in the hallway with the visitors comments book on it, would have been great placed under the TV and the kettle etc could have been placed on there and a socket could have been taken from the TV supply socket above. Again a fairly small outlay for a big gain in the room.
All the staff we met, were very friendly and always willing to do what they good to help, another reason our stay was so pleasant.
The restaurant severed good pub food and good sized portions.
There is also 2 EV charging points on site.
Would I recommend, yes 100%

Quaint place with pub on ground floor. Would not advise for people with walking issues as the stairs are very steep and steps narrow and uneven.

Really helpful and friendly staff. Prepared me a grab bag for breakfast as had to leave earlier than breakfast was served. My room was a little on the small side but was very beautifully presented. (And would be fine for any one of average hight and build. As I am over 6’5 and of large build.)

No parking available on day 1. I was told an email would be sent on the day of our arrival to give us instructions for accessing the room but never received it. Had to wait for someone to take us to the room and give me the passkey. Pub was very busy and noisy on our first night which kept us awake. Second night we didn’t hear anything in the pub. Breakfast was really good and the cooks were excellent at catering for my dairy and egg allergies. Bed mattress was not good.

Lovely little pub with rooms - idea for a cozier stay in Dover. Expect old world style and rooms - and you won’t be disappointed
But they really need to get new mattresses

The location is the Hotel's biggest selling point as it is so close to the Dover Castle and the White Cliffs. The room was ok for a "base" but would not recommend it for a long stay. The food served was excellent.

Lumpy mattress,no hot food Mon-Tuesdays, no TV in the room, no desk in the room to work at, breakfast served at 8-9, not good if you’re working.

We chose to stay at the Royal Oak prior to our cruise. The hotel is situated away from the city centre in a quiet residential area steeped in history a short cab ride or 40 min walk to town. The staff exceeded our expectations with their kindness and hospitality. The pub downstairs frequented by locals and travellers was a lot of fun to have a pint, meal and watch a football match. The room met our requirements only the unseasonably warm weather made it more challenging, thankfully a fan was provided in the room. Complimentary breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

Arrived on a Tuesday to find the kitchen was closed but thankfully you could do me a Pizza. My room was lovely but would benefit from a new mattresses and a tv would be a welcome addition.
None of the above detracts from it being a lively cosy little pub and i would happily stay again.

Very pleasant and helpful, we arrived earlier than the assigned check-in and Heidi was very helpful and let us leave our bags so we could venture out for the afternoon. Highly recommend, and also the pub down stairs.

Lovely location and staff.
Lacking a TV in the room and mattresses could do with replacing. Food average too.
Even so would stay again .

This quirky pub/hotel was fun to stay at. Just getting to our room was a journey up and down different steps and through open spaces. I should have filmed it. Ha.
My friend and I had traveled from London after the disaster that was the coronation and trying to see the screens in Hyde Park. We were happy to be able to kick back and watch the recap of it...oh wait, we couldn't. There was no TV in the room. That is the ONLY downside to this place. Not the biggest deal, but we really did want to see the highlights of the event.
The restaurant downstairs was cozy and convenient. The food was really good (try the garlic mushrooms!). Breakfast the next morning was included. We thought it was just the basic cereal and yogurt offering, but no, there was a little menu we could order from without charge. It was delicious and so much food.
Parking might be an issue here as well since the lot is very small, but we managed to squeeze our little rental car into a spot.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay near Dover but not pay the Dover hotel prices. Everyone was friendly and took great care of us.

The individuality of the room design. The quality of fixtures and fittings. The total peace and quiet. The only downside was the need to go out for dinner because they don't serve food on Sunday evening at present

The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. What I wasn’t aware of is the flight of steep stairs to the first floor that my dogs couldn’t get up and down and myself and my son struggled especially with dogs and luggage! Easy to access the room after closing.
