The only reason I’m not rating it a poor is because the people working there are very nice, it’s a great location and is cheap. But I wouldn’t stay there again. It’s not clean. Carpets in the hall are all stained. It’s old and could be a lot nicer with some updates, like fresh paint, clean carpets, better mattresses and pillows and bedding.

The room and the service was great. The staff were very friendly and nice. The only bad thing was that the heat didn't work so well so the room was a little cold. I put the heat up and then it seemed to get better. Good value hotel for a nice Mystic visit.

Very disappointed in the state and quality of room, especially for location and price. Bathroom was disgusting mold on ceiling tiles, gobs of caulk over existing molded caulk and poor repairs of holes in walls, “patio” was overgrown and facing a parking lot and highway and security was lax. Door into motel area was not working so anyone could gain access.

The only 2 positives: the gentleman at the front desk was very kind and polite; and the beds/pillows were clean and comfortable. Everything else was pretty horrible. Most bothersome to me: The exterior door lock to the hotel was completely broken - so where one should have to use their key card to enter, it was just a swinging door that anyone could enter from the outside; the hotel's interior is disgusting - the stains on the hallway carpet and walls, and the general odor of the place is very offensive; the rooms are in bad shape - very dingy and rundown. The attention that's been given to the front of the hotel and the lobby needs to translate to the hallways and rooms. The pictures on Hotels.com are false advertising. We will never stay here again.

Absolutely disgusting, filthy. Room has putrid stench of mold mixed with urine. Building very old, completely dilapidated. Unfit for human habitation. Should be condemned and demolished. Worst “hotel” experience in my life by far.

Its what i expected for around 200 a night im not expecting a 5 star class resort i received what i paid for. It wasnt horrible like some people on here are saying. Its an old place thats getting updates as they can afford it. Id most definitely stay there again.

This was 1 nite stay for a family visit. Ive stayed here before but usually on the 1st floor. This time it was the 2nd floor with parking all the way in the back. Entrance was well lit at night. Halls were clean but worn. Rugs were stained. My room and bathroom were clean. Location is perfect right off 95, across from Mystic Village and Aquarium and about a 5 min drive to Seaport. A basic hotel and not bad for the money

Rooms are very dark which conceals a lot.. When the drapes were opened in the morning you could see how bad the floors were.. Bed seemed clean enough though

Don’t stay here. I never write a poor review but this property is run down and in need of a face lift. The hallways were musty smelling and that continued into the room. Once in the room, I opened the fridge which was not cold and the inside was dirty. The coffee maker was broken and on a high shelf so I’m not sure how a short person would get water into it. Thankfully the bed was clean. I contemplated sleeping in my car because the smell was so bad. An update to this hotel is needed because it is in a great location.

Property was poorly maintained, grass long, stained carpets, no screens in slider. Woke up to water in the bathroom from the upstairs shower. Desperatly in need of a face lift! Overall clean but run down, convenient location

Unfortunately the pictures online make this place look bright, inviting, and pretty. It’s really not. It’s slightly updated with decor in the rooms but it just looked and felt dirty. Bathroom and shower was not very clean, refrigerator in the room did not work. The outside is very run down and not well kept. The area around of course is great so we just made do for the one night. Our balcony was in poor shape and overlooked the dumpster of the back of the diner with over grown weeds and grass.

I've stayed at this Howard Johnson's before, so I'm a happy repeat customer. It's a nice property just minutes away from downtown Mystic. Staff is great, amenities are great, no complaints about anything. The pool is a nice bonus.

During my recent stay at this hotel, I had a few mixed feelings. We had a pleasant greeting at check-in, and the front desk person was very nice and cordial, which was a great start.
On the flip side, the hotel itself desperately needs an update. There were plenty of spiderwebs by the balcony lights, the light covers were stained, and the curtains were burnt. It’s clear the place has seen better days and needs some serious maintenance.
That said, the hotel does have potential. Its location is great, and the service is excellent. With some much-needed renovations, this place could really be something special.

Beds were very comfortable. Desk staff very pleasant. Close to all major attractions in Mystic. Place is rundown though. Carpets dirty, ice machines and coffee machine in lobby broken, needs more lighting in hallways.

It was depressing to be in bed looking up at all the Dirty water spots on the ceiling . The bathroom light wasnt working all the time so we had to use cell phone flash light. the place was Not torally terrible. Lobby was clesn , hallways were clean . The pool was cold but very clean.

The cons: The shower seemed a bit dirty as there was stuff on the shower wall, the mirrors were dirty, and the bathroom sink didn't drain well and would back up. The pool seemed a little cloudy and some debris floating around, around pool could use a good scrubbing.
The pros: 10% discount at the diner, there was a pool open 8a-8p, and a small fridge in the room. There was also an accessable balcony.
For the price of our stay it was better than expected and we would stay again.

The staff were nice and it’s a super convenient location for seeing Mystic Aquarium and the surrounding area. Mystic Diner on premise is good anytime with breakfast all day. Unfortunately the hotel is very dated and badly in need of a makeover. Pricey for the condition.

Not at all what I expected for almost $300. Visible dirt, bugs, peeling paint, holes in the ceiling, noisy people outside in the dark/unsafe feeling parking lot. Good location and pool looked decent. Front desk lady was lovely. I definitely would not recommend staying here overall.

The staff was very nice and the lobby was nice. The rooms were outdated and dingy. The rugs and shower needed an upgrade and our refrigerator wasn’t working and had old food and made the whole room smell.

Loved the pool and the room and bathroom were very clean. Enjoyed the convenience of the location just outside of the Mystic downtown but close enough to drive to all the popular venues.
