Cheap and cheerful, the bed was ridiculously soft and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work. Room was initially set up for 1 person (1 towel, glass, milk etc) and reception staff wouldn’t accept this to begin with, however we returned from a night out to find a mountain of towels and a dairy farm’s worth of milk. Good breakfast and cheerful staff. Would stay again.

The heating did not work freezing cold

Mixed bag - friendly welcome but the double room booked was not available and we ended up with a twin. The room was ok but the carpet needed a good clean and vacuum, as did the hallways, also the lift was dirty. I like a holiday inn express because of the inclusive breakfast, this was available 6.30 - 9.30 but when we arrived at 8.30 there was limited availability. Car parking good but arrive early as limited spaces, location of the hotel very good.

I was poorly and staff let me stay extra 2 hrs past check out to help me. Very kind

stayed 2 nights, breakfast was good value, bedroom comfortable but unfortunately the bathroom door was well worn and didnt close without a loud noise!

The bottom sheet didn't seem to fit the bed right. It needs to be clearer about the £7 parking fee for over night stays.

I gave an overall rating of 3, it would have been a 2 but for the staff who were friendly and helpful. When i checked in the room i was given had not been cleaned ir serviced, the bed was not made and towels on the bathroom floor from the previous guest. The reception staff were very apologetic and moved me to a room that had been serviced. The menu choice at the bar consists of 4 items, 2 of which are pizza's, when you are visiting for business you want and should have more choice. The hotel is looking tired throughout and needs some refurbishment. Parking is very limited and often had to park in the Ridings car park. I have 2 more visits for business planned in October, for the reasons outlined above i will be cancelling my bookings. Such a shame as the reception staff were excellent, let down by housekeeping and limited kitchen staff.

Lovely staff and convenient location. But property is aged and small. Really needs major renovations to update the property

A sad hotel much in need of refurbishment. Parking a nightmare and if you can find it an extra £7 per night. Stained carpets in a very basic room with old TV. Breakfast a tepid buffet sat for hours. I was booked for two nights but didn’t stay the second - better to do a late drive home. I would not recommend esp at the price charged

Tired looking hotel bed and mattress worn and small double beds not comfy for 2 adults. Parking extremely limited at hotel with questionable alternatives. Breakfast though was awesome as usual for a Holiday Inn Express

Young lass with braces on reception when we checked in was brilliant, really friendly and a credit to the company. Room was good size, bathroom had quite a few hairs on the floor and the shower plug was blocked. The pillows aren't the best, they seem quite hard and large so your head is quite high and uncomfortable. All three of us said we didn't sleep great because of them.

Good bathroom. Shabby bedroom. TERRIBLE mattress.

Staff were lovely. Our room had a strange smell and it was because the windows on the 1st floor can't be opened. The staff offered to move rooms, but the room itself was ok and we never planned to spend much time in it anyway. The hotel is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. If you want to be close to the city centre, the location is great as is the service, its simply dated and in need of some updating.

There was limited chargeable parking. We were lucky we got the last spot. Everything else was all good but the beds could be bigger.

We have previously stayed at the Wakefield Holiday Inn Express, since we visit our family locally. It has proven to form our base of stay, since we regard the hotel rooms to be extremely clean and comfortable (and quiet) and the breakfasts to be very comprehensive and wholesome. The overall welcome from the receptionist in checking in to that of checking out is exemplary. A great venue to stay !!

Stayed here many times before when visiting friends & family in Wakefield. Great location bang in city centre. Staff always friendly & help. Yes it’s a bit worn & tired but it’s clean & does the job for a short stay trip.

Jessie was excellent. Staff make the difference and she elevated trip. V hood central hotel.

Everything was as good as it can be until I found found out that the toilet seat was broken

ok stay,looks like they are trying to charge £10 a night parking now which is not acceptable,especially if you are disabled and have a blue badge,could do with other lady manager back,its lost its spirit.

Staff were helpful and welcoming. Bathroom was clean and spot on, but the carpet in the corridors and the room obviously not vacuum cleaned. One can see hairs and bits on the carpets. Food tasted like it came from a can.

Property was fine but food options very limited, parking a huge problem, ideal location if you dont have a car as its right in town centre.
