The foyer was pleasant and staff throughout did their best to accommodate.
However our room was dirty and the decor in no way reflected the pictures on the website. The general standard was very poor- cups were unclean, the shower should significant signs of mould in the tiles, floor and around the shower head. The pillows were lumpy and stained. I requested a move and all that was available was damp, cold and musty. The carpet in the replacement room was worn and had large fold that could have been a trip hazard.
The Spa could hardly be referred to as such- it was a swimming pool with a jacuzzi at the side and to use the facility there was an additional charge. Children were having official swimming lessons making it overcrowded. The only real adult time was either dinner time in the evening or early morning.
Our food was average at best! It took 45 minutes to arrive and my Parmesan and Truffle oil pasta has no Parmesan!
Throughout the hotel I noticed worn carpets and scuffed doors and skirting boards.
While based on website photos some f the hotel must have had an upgrade but they clearly give poorer rooms to those not booking directly.

Quite disappointed was on a business trip and could got not get breakfast at an early time as there was a coach trip that blocked out all the early appointments for breakfast. So annoyingly had to travel into town. Hotel could not accommodate us even though there were only 2 of us

To be honest a nice hotel with a wonderful restaurant. However the staff and their attention to customer service lacked somewhat and the Spa for £15 per person extra charge was a disappointment. Would not go back to stay on the hotel or the spa but would consider returning to the restaurant.

I would have gave full 5 star review on this hotel, bed and pillow comfortable, the personalised cookie for our daughter a nice touch, lots of info sent before arriving. Modern and very clean hotel. Dinner and breakfast was the best hotel food we had in the UK.
Such a shame about the bed sofa for my daughter she could feel every spring so had to get in our bed, I tried to sleep in it and it really was bad. Sort that out though and I’d be happy to give full 5 stars and come back again!

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The little extras in the room such as the sleep kit or the fresh milk machine on the corridor make the hotel feel a little more special. We had breakfast and found the choice and portion sizes very good. We will definitely return

Arrived 2hrs before checkin, so used spa facilitys till 3pm ,room wasnt ready, so we were given free drinks each while we waited, stay was good, doors are v. Noisy, alll need a "soft close", weather& my health wasnt gr8, so made most of spa, was lovely ,nice gardens surrounding, shops nearby & close walk to river,all you need

Lovely place. It has a seating area with a fire (good for winter nights). It has activities for kids and board games. I like that they are pretty sustainable and you have to get your own milk and put it in your fridge. The breakfast room/restaurant was beautiful. The coffee pancakes are a delight at breakfast.
My only issue was that there was a piece missing from the coffee machine so I couldn’t have one and I was eager to try.

The room was very comfortable and clean. All members of staff very helpful. I really loved the water and milk dispensers to reduce extra waste. Bathroom was ever so slightly worn around the edges, but otherwise perfectly clean. Would definitely stay again.

There was a mix up with the room which I had booked through Hotels.com but I was soon sorted with the one I had booked( at a cost)The following morning it had been sorted and upgrade cost refunded.Staff and room very good.Will definitely be back hopefully later in the year.

Wonderful hotel, the facial at the spa was lovely and the pool was bit with a jacuzzi. Bed was very comfortable. Staff all very friendly and breakfast was delicious with lots of options

The staff were especially amazing and helped us with many questions. We loved the facilities and the location. It was very walkable to the train station and into Penrith. The restaurant has a great menu and good selection of wines.

North Lakes Hotel & Spa is a beautiful facility with lush green gardens. Who would have thought I’d be wishing for an air conditioned room in May! The rotating fan did help a little but my room still felt humid and stuffy.
Also the toilets appear to have been upgraded but holding the button in to flush is difficult.
Overall NLH&S is a beautiful facility with great service and friendly welcoming staff. I would definitely stay again but during cooler weather.

Beautiful and cosy hotel. We stayed here for one night on our way to Inverness. We checked in during the Easter break. Kids were welcomed with Cookies. They were yummy. Spa access seemed good. Didn’t have time to try it. My daughter went for a swim.
Kids had their own kit. Slippers robe, books colour pencils. Very nice touch.
We had dinner in the hotel. Very tasty and fresh produce. Only complaint being they forgot about our order. My husband had to go and enquire and then it all came out in a sec all at once. Had gone a bit cold by then.
Would recommend to book dinner earlier. We had to sit in a corner. Looked like a naughty corner. The good food might have compensated for it.

North Lakes spa and hotel is in a great location for a lot of walks and not far from Ullswater. The room was lovely and great idea to be able to fill up our own water and milk.
My only feedback would be the service was quite slow and items we ordered from the restaurant were forgotten. Overall we had a good stay.

Fabulous staff! Every interaction was good - excellent. Would recommend. Only downside some of the carpets have seen better days.

Property was very clean. Didn’t expect hotel to be close to housing estate. But that’s just my opinion. The shower in the room was awful. Hardly any power.
