unfortunately, the elevators were not working, and I had to climb stairs, with luggage and bad knees. The construction going on and information that the elevator was not working should have been communicated to us prior to our stay, so we could make alternate arrangements or a discount applied to the cost of the room. We were not told until arrival and with 3 rooms, making alternate arrangements could not be done. We were basically STUCK with these rooms.

This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. The rooms are clean and well equipped. They have both soft and firm pillows in the rooms to fit all preferences. The staff was very kind and the location is next to a Culver's and an IHOP.
The only issue we had was that the key cards didn't work on the exterior doors. Because of limited parking in the front, it made for a long haul to the room. To be fair, it was obviously a fluke issue. They tried reprogramming our cards but it was apparently a problem with the door locks instead. Also, they offered us free snacks for the inconvenience. Overall, a good stay.

Our stay was okay for the most part. The room was a bit small but comfortable. It appears the property may be under construction. There was a heavy scent of cleaner that smelled like bug spray.

Room that we got was NOT what I reserved! I used Expedia/Hotels.com Rewards to book a one-night King bed, but what we got was 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The attendant who checked us in first claimed that the room was what we requested (it was not), then, after talking to her boss on the phone, said that all king beds were booked to other people. When we asked about compensation, they said that because we booked through Expedia/Hotels.com, Holiday Inn Express couldn't do anything about it. NOT HAPPY their customer service. In the room, one dresser drawer would not stay closed, and the window blind would not go all the way down. All that being said, the room was clean and relatively comfortable.

There was no drain plug for the bathtub. The water pressure was the lowest I've ever felt.
There was a strong chemical smell, especially in the halls and by the elevator. I'm assuming it's from work being done in the hotel. Could literally see clouds of chemicals.
Did not have enough towels for the number of people staying in the room.
Positives: Breakfast was great and better than expected. Very friendly and helpful workers.

There was no window covering in my room. I didn’t notice until I came back to my room at midnight a light was shining through my window and people were looking right in it. I had to use a sheet to cover the window.

Called me 23 minutes before check in to tell me they gave my rooms away. We booked them a month early and they jacked the price up and gave out rooms to someone who booked long after I did. They ruined my kids event that we planned out so meticulously so that nothing bad would happen. We ended up missing most of our event because the nearest accommodation we could find with only 20 minutes notice was over 40 minutes away. Thanks for ruining our trip for your greed.

The hotel is in the process of some renovations. The hotel was clean but a bit outdated in areas. Breakfast was good. Nice selection of items to choose from. Pool was closed the first 2 days we stayed for cleaning which was disappointing. Elevator was a bit concerning. Only one and it shimmied as it was lowering and shuttering when rising. I heard someone at the front desk say the hotel was under new management. Centrally located to just about everything.

The sink and the tub were clogged. We had to ask for trash to be removed and removed it ourselves one day. Had to ask for towels. Not once were our beds even made, no sheets changed. The renovations are causing a mess, we believe our room had just been done and there was glue on our floor, so it was sticky. There was GUM ON OUR REMOTE CONTROL. So gross, not sure if anyone cleaned the room before we got there.

Everything was comfortable and most things were good. The shower was dirty though and the conditioner and body wash were almost completely gone. Everything else was good. But if you are not going to have hotel size hygiene products please for the future clients make sure soaps are filled. I didn’t even know until I was in the shower.

I was hesitant after reading some reviews for the property but we had a great stay. The front desk was helpful and friendly at check in and check out. The room was clean ( no sticky carpet I read about) and the breakfast was well appointed for a budget hotel. For the price we paid I was definitely satisfied and would stay again.

The location is excellent, convenient and very close to the outlet and restaurants. But the service is poor. The staff weren’t very helpful and friendly.

The stay started just fine, until the noise disturbance Saturday night. Other guests decided to throw a party with loud music until 1am in the parking lot of the hotel, which happened to be right under our window. We called the front desk 3x that evening asking for assistance. The front desk gave us attitude. We asked for a manager phone call the next day and never received it, even with us calling 2 more times to follow up. The elevator was broke as well, so everyone was coming up the stairs & we happened to be at the end of the hall. Asked for some type of compensation of our 5 night stay and we were declined!!

To start, computer issues at the front desk caused checkin to take 35 minutes. We came out of the elevator to heavy pot smell. The rooms floor was sticky and had some red stains. The side of the bed also had a red stain. Tub was stained. Breakfast was cold and just not many options.

This hotel was as good as we have come to expect from HIE. Beds were comfortable, bathroom nicely appointed with a big lighted mirror. We were pleased to see that they have adopted the current fashion of providing liquid soaps and hair products in dispensers, rather than bars or cakes. The window coverings provided excellent light blocking and modesty. The breakfast was very good. the breakfast room attendant was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is located close to a variety of decent eateries.

Our stay was ok. Room was clean, but the carpet throughout the hotel felt dirty, made my shoes squeek when coming onto tiled floor as if sticky. If walking barefoot, I wouldn't advise it..it felt greasy and nasty. I wore my husbands socks as I'd forgotten my slippers. The breakfast was good, attendant was very attentive to everyones needs. Pool looked very clean and nice area. Front desk staff were nice and took care in timely manner. We generally stay at HIE, but this one I'm pretty sure we would find another one to try out.

Checked into room, removed my shoes and immediately felt water in the carpet. Called desk, they were sympathetic and said they had been shampooing carpets in room and agreed to move me. Problem is the room they moved me to had the same issue just not as bad. For $150 a night I would like to not be uncomfortable walking around the room with no shoes on.

Pros: Staff was very friendly and was located in a perfect area - especially if you are going to a KC Sporting event! Breakfast was great as well!
Cons: Our room had dirty, sticky carpet. We kept our socks on the entire time and it still felt yucky. There was also hair in one of the beds and the bathtub.
You are definitely paying more for the location!
